Newcomer's Guide to Fürth
Fürth: City of Monuments Right Next to Nuremberg
for newcomers
Fürth had around 131,300 inhabitants at the end of 2025 and, after Nuremberg and Würzburg, is the third-largest city in Franconia. The historic core lies east and south of the Rednitz and Pegnitz, which merge here to form the Regnitz; Nuremberg adjoins directly to the east, and the Knoblauchsland market-garden area to the north. Fürth owes its nickname Cloverleaf City (Kleeblattstadt) to its coat of arms. Measured by population, the city has the fourth-highest density of listed buildings among Germany's large cities – unbroken rows of Gründerzeit and Art Nouveau buildings shape the city centre. The biggest folk festival is the Michaeliskirchweih in autumn.
Important for work are Uvex with its headquarters and production, the Leonhard Kurz Stiftung on Schwabacher Straße, the toy makers Simba-Dickie and Bruder, Trolli, the BSH central warehouse in Sack and several Siemens sites. Since 2016 the Bavarian State Office for Statistics has been based in the former Quelle building. The U1 and S-Bahn run to Nuremberg, and the S1 to Erlangen. We do not quote specific rents because we have no reliable source. We handle the move from Berlin as a home removal.

From Berlin to Fürth
We come from Berlin-Moabit; Fürth is around 456 km away. The route via the A9, A3 and A73 is described on the page Moving Berlin – Fürth. The return trip from Fürth to Berlin is also possible.
Registration in Fürth: Deadline, Citizens' Centres and Digital Residence Registration
Anyone moving into a flat in Fürth must, according to the Fürth service portal, register within two weeks of moving in. This also applies to a move within the city. Missing the deadline is an administrative offence and can be punished with a fine of up to 1,000 euros. Registration itself is free of charge.
- In person: registrations, deregistrations and changes of address are possible at the Süd and Nord (Stadeln) citizens' centres. An on-site appointment is required for this. According to the city, short-notice appointments are released daily from Monday to Friday at around 11.00 am. If you cannot keep an appointment, you must cancel it via the cancellation link in the confirmation e-mail.
- Bring: the registration form, the ID card or passport of all persons to be registered and the landlord confirmation (Wohnungsgeberbestätigung).
- Digital: registration is also possible via the federal portal wohnsitzanmeldung.gov.de, with BayernID or BundID and the online ID function.
Important: registrations in advance are not permitted. The moving-in date must match the date on the landlord confirmation; otherwise the registration is automatically rejected and can then only be done on site.
On the page Digital move the city explains that the service is being activated in stages and can initially be used by adults living alone without minor children. Afterwards, a short visit to the citizens' office is needed to update the address on your ID card; express appointments are available for this. Further registration steps can be found under Change of address: who to inform?.
Everyday Life in Fürth: Parking Restriction, Vehicle and U-Bahn to Nuremberg
Around the move and everyday life in Fürth, three points are worth a look. First, the parking restriction: in its service portal the city lists setting up a parking restriction zone for a move as a case for a traffic order. The road traffic office, traffic supervision section, is responsible. The application should normally be submitted at least two weeks in advance; it must include a written application with location and time frame as well as a traffic sign plan. For signage orders, the city generally states fees between €10.20 and €767.00.
Second, the vehicle: according to the service portal, there is no fixed deadline for re-registration after a change of residence; however, the deadline for the general inspection (Hauptuntersuchung) continues to run. Among other things, you need the registration certificate part I, your ID and the insurer's eVB number.
Third, transport links: in its list of lines, the Greater Nuremberg Transport Association (VGN) lists the U-Bahn U1 from Fürth Hardhöhe via Nürnberg Plärrer and the main station to Langwasser Süd. The VGN also lists connections on the Nuremberg, Fürth, Erlangen, Forchheim and Bamberg route as well as city lines that connect Fürth main station with Stadeln and the hospital.
