Your questions about moving in Berlin Treptow-Köpenick
The entire district with its 15 neighbourhoods – from Alt-Treptow, Plänterwald and Johannisthal through Adlershof, Altglienicke, Köpenick and Friedrichshagen to Rahnsdorf, Grünau and Schmöckwitz.
Treptow-Köpenick: Berlin's largest district between the Spree, the Dahme and the Müggelsee
At around 168 square kilometres, Treptow-Köpenick is Berlin's largest district by area and at the same time one of the greenest and richest in water. Between the Spree, the Dahme, the Müggelsee and the Langer See stretches an area that ranges from dense inner-city development in Alt-Treptow to rural structures in Müggelheim and Schmöckwitz. This variety presents moving companies with particular challenges – from narrow streets of period buildings to spacious detached-house plots by the water.
Praktik Transport und Umzüge comes from Moabit and plans moves throughout the district after a survey. We check in advance where narrow cobbled streets in Köpenick's old town require a smaller vehicle, where modern new builds with lifts make moving easier in Adlershof and where long access routes to plots have to be planned in Grünau or Müggelheim.
Whether a private move into a new family flat in Baumschulenweg or a company relocation into the Adlershof technology park – we plan every move individually, transparently and on schedule. Our team of furniture packers and drivers plans for rush-hour traffic on the Adlergestell just as much as for the parking situation around Bahnhofstraße in Köpenick.
Treptow-Köpenick combines urban life with living close to nature – from the flat with a view of the Spree in Alt-Treptow to the villa on the Müggelsee in Friedrichshagen. This range calls for a moving partner who adapts flexibly to every living situation. That is exactly what our planning is geared to – for private customers, families, seniors and businesses throughout the district. Rely on thorough preparation, fair prices and a smooth process – from the first survey to the last box in your new home.
Neighbourhoods of Treptow-Köpenick: our service area at a glance
Treptow-Köpenick is divided into 15 neighbourhoods with very different characters. For each one we plan the vehicle, team and parking space separately – one particular feature each:
- Alt-Treptow – the northernmost neighbourhood, apartment blocks with rear courtyards north and west of Treptower Park
- Plänterwald – a self-contained residential area from the 1950s and 1960s by the forest of the same name with the Spreepark
- Baumschulenweg – named after the Späth tree nursery, whose arboretum now belongs to Humboldt University
- Johannisthal – loosely built up; this was the site of Johannisthal airfield, in 1909 the first German airfield for powered flight
- Niederschöneweide – on the left bank of the Spree opposite Oberschöneweide, seat of the staff of the Federal Police Directorate Berlin
- Oberschöneweide – once one of Germany's most important factory districts, closely linked to AEG; today also a university location of the HTW
- Adlershof – WISTA science city with over 1,300 companies and the natural science institutes of Humboldt University
- Altglienicke – prefabricated blocks in the Kosmosviertel (1987–1990) and estate houses on the hill
- Bohnsdorf – listed village green on the Dorfplatz and Bruno Taut's UNESCO-listed Falkenberg garden city
- Köpenick – old town and palace each on an island at the confluence of the Spree and the Dahme, Berlin's largest neighbourhood by area
- Friedrichshagen – colonists' village from 1753, Bölschestraße running from Fürstenwalder Damm to the Müggelsee
- Rahnsdorf – the easternmost neighbourhood of the district, between the Müggelsee and the city boundary
- Müggelheim – founded in 1747 by families from the Palatinate, located south of the Müggelsee in the city forest
- Grünau – villa suburb on the left bank of the Dahme with the regatta course of the 1936 Olympic Games
- Schmöckwitz – Berlin's south-easternmost neighbourhood, a former fishing village by the water
In Adlershof, a student move at a fixed price is often worthwhile for students. In the quiet villa areas of Grünau, Müggelheim or Friedrichshagen, on the other hand, a considerate senior move is often the right fit. Whatever the neighbourhood – we look at the address beforehand and bring the right equipment.
Moves from period and new buildings in Treptow-Köpenick: mastering the district's challenges
Hardly any Berlin district combines as many different building eras as Treptow-Köpenick. In Köpenick's historic old town, around Schlossplatz and the town hall, there are numerous listed period buildings with narrow stairwells, narrow door frames and in some cases no lift. Manual skill is needed here to transport bulky furniture, wardrobes or a piano safely through winding hallways.
In Oberschöneweide and Niederschöneweide, too, former industrial buildings shape the townscape – many of them have been converted into modern loft flats. These properties often come with high ceilings, large window fronts and solid wooden floors that need special protection during furniture transport. Our teams work with blankets, edge guards and non-slip mats so as to damage neither your property nor the historic building fabric.
The situation in Adlershof is quite different: as a modern science and residential location, many new builds here have lifts, wide stairwells and designated delivery zones – ideal for a quick move without loss of time. The same applies to newer residential projects in Johannisthal and Baumschulenweg, where generous floor plans make furniture transport easier.
When moving from large period flats or detached houses in Grünau, Müggelheim or Schmöckwitz, there are often additional household goods that are not to be moved. Here, professional clearance before or after the actual move is recommended, so that the cellar, loft or garage can be handed over swept clean. If there is a valuable instrument in the household, we also take care of safe piano transport with special equipment and careful staff – whether from the third floor of a period building in Alt-Treptow or from a villa on the Müggelsee.
Applying for a parking restriction zone for your move in Treptow-Köpenick
Especially in densely built-up neighbourhoods such as Köpenick's old town, along Bölschestraße in Friedrichshagen or in the narrow residential streets of Alt-Treptow, sufficient parking space on moving day is often in short supply. Without a free loading zone directly in front of the door, the carrying distance becomes considerably longer – which costs time and increases the risk of damage to furniture or vehicles.
That is why we apply for a parking restriction zone (Halteverbotszone) on your behalf at the road traffic authority of the Treptow-Köpenick district office. We take care of all the signage, submit the applications in good time and ensure that a reserved area directly in front of your flat is available on moving day.
This is particularly important in the following areas:
- Köpenick's old town around Schlossplatz and Grünstraße – narrow lanes with high parking pressure
- Bölschestraße and the Seepromenade in Friedrichshagen – popular destinations with many tourists
- Adlergestell between Schöneweide and Grünau – at 11.9 km Berlin's longest street, and heavily used
- Residential streets in Alt-Treptow near Puschkinallee – limited parking due to residents' parking
- Villa areas in Grünau and Schmöckwitz – some narrow access roads without public parking
Depending on location, duration and signage effort, a parking restriction zone costs between €30 and €100 per day. Allow at least four weeks' lead time – that is how long processing takes according to service.berlin.de – so that the signs are in place in good time before the moving date. You will find more information on the process, costs and responsibilities on our parking restriction zone page. We take care of the entire organisation so that you can concentrate on what matters on moving day: your new home in Treptow-Köpenick.
Moving costs in Treptow-Köpenick: transparent prices for every move
The cost of a move in Treptow-Köpenick depends on several factors: the size of the flat, the floor, the distance to your new home and any additional services required, such as a parking restriction zone or clearance. We calculate every move individually and transparently so that you know from the outset what costs to expect.
| Service | Price from |
|---|---|
| 1-room flat | €365 |
| 2-room flat | €609 |
| 3-room flat | €909 |
| Long-distance move (per km) | from €3.80 |
| Parking restriction zone (per day) | €30–100 |
These guide values apply to standard moves within Berlin, for example from Adlershof to Baumschulenweg or from Köpenick to Alt-Treptow. For longer distances, such as a move from Schmöckwitz or Müggelheim to another federal state, our fair per-kilometre price for long-distance moves applies.
If you only want to transport single pieces of furniture or a few boxes, you can save real money with our part-load transport: your belongings are carried together with other transports in the same region, which is a low-cost alternative especially for smaller moves within Treptow-Köpenick or to neighbouring districts.
Additional factors that can affect the price include:
- Floor and whether there is a lift
- Carrying distance between the vehicle and the front door of the flat
- Bulky or particularly valuable items such as pianos
- Additional packing service or furniture assembly
- A parking restriction zone needed on narrow streets
We will gladly prepare an individual, non-binding quote after a free survey or on the basis of your information – transparently calculated and with no hidden costs.

Parking restrictions in Treptow-Köpenick: road traffic authority, application and lead time
In Treptow-Köpenick, the road traffic authority (Straßenverkehrsbehörde, SVB) at the Roads and Green Spaces Office (Straßen- und Grünflächenamt) is responsible for moving-related parking restrictions. According to the district office, you can reach it at Neue Krugallee 4, 12435 Berlin (PO Box 91 02 40, 12414 Berlin). Service Berlin gives the email address as [email protected].
For parking restrictions for moves, Service Berlin states:
- an informal application without special requirements,
- a minimum fee of €21.00, depending on scope and duration,
- an average processing time of about 4 weeks.
The page of the Treptow-Köpenick road traffic authority also points out that certain orders are only issued to qualified traffic safety companies, which also handle the application and the putting up and collection of the signs. So before applying, clarify with the authority whether you as a private individual can apply yourself or whether a specialist company is needed.
Note the road category: according to the district page, the central road traffic authority at the Senate Department is generally responsible for main roads, while the district looks after side streets.
In the application, state the street, house number, date, time and the required length. The signs must be in place in good time before moving day, and since the fee depends on scope and duration, apply for the parking restriction only for as long as necessary.
Our guide Applying for a parking restriction zone explains the process. You will find our service on the parking restriction zone page.
15 neighbourhoods between the Spree, the Müggelsee and the forest: moving in Treptow-Köpenick
According to the district office, Treptow-Köpenick is Berlin's largest district by area. It covers almost 19 per cent of the city's area; a good 41 per cent of its area is forest and just under 13 per cent water – in each case the highest share of all Berlin districts. The district office lists 15 neighbourhoods.
These include Alt-Treptow, Plänterwald, Baumschulenweg, Johannisthal, Niederschöneweide, Oberschöneweide, Adlershof, Köpenick, Friedrichshagen and Müggelheim. In addition there are Altglienicke, Bohnsdorf, Grünau, Rahnsdorf and Schmöckwitz. Each of these neighbourhoods has its own streets, access routes and types of building.
The large areas of forest and water have a practical consequence: distances can be long, and not every plot is on a wide road. For locations near forest or water, we therefore check access, turning space and carrying distance in advance and choose the vehicle to match. Where a removal van cannot reach the door, longer carrying routes with more staff or a furniture lift help.
In the neighbourhood centres too, we record the floor, lift and parking distance before making a quote. We do not quote a fixed journey time from our depot in Berlin-Moabit, as it depends on the neighbourhood and the traffic situation.
For a move to the neighbouring districts, read on at Lichtenberg and Neukölln. Offices and businesses will find help under company relocation.
