Long-Distance Move

& across Germany and Europe – planned by km and m³

Service Details

Long-Distance Move at a fixed price.

Long-distance moves across Germany and Europe at a fixed price after a survey, guide price from €4/km. We plan your route from Berlin-Moabit and deliver punctually and safely – on request with packing, furniture assembly and unpacking. Part-loads for smaller households are also possible, with liability under the HGB.

With a long-distance move, planning is what counts: how many cubic metres, how many hours at the wheel, and where can the lorry stop at both addresses? Praktik Transport und Umzüge plans your move from Berlin to other cities in Germany and to other European countries and gives you a fixed price after a survey. Your goods are covered by liability under the German Commercial Code (HGB, § 451e: €620 per m³); we arrange additional insurance on request. Request a free quote – we will get back to you with a suggested date.

What does the cost depend on?

The cost of a long-distance move depends on the distance, volume, floors and extra services such as packing or assembly. At Praktik Transport und Umzüge, long-distance moves start from €4/km; we price flat moves from €350, €590, €890 or €1,290 depending on size. We state the binding amount as a fixed price after the survey. You will find individual routes with distances under Long-distance moves.

For an accurate calculation we need your inventory list or a survey appointment. Request a free quote.

Across Germany and to other European countries

Whether to Munich, Cologne or Vienna: every long-distance move starts at our base in Moabit (Stromstraße 21) and is planned according to distance and driving time. Within the EU there are no customs formalities; for Switzerland a customs declaration for household removal goods is required. You will find routes with distances on our location pages.

  • Germany-wide moves to all federal states
  • Europe-wide moves, with no customs within the EU
  • One contact person from planning to arrival

Part-load for small moving volumes

If you are moving only a few pieces of furniture, your goods can travel as a part-load (Beiladung) on a tour heading in your direction. You share the transport costs and receive a delivery window instead of a fixed date. Read more about this money-saving option under Part-load.

For a room in a shared flat, a partial move or individual pieces of furniture, this is often the most economical solution for a long-distance move.

How a long-distance move with Praktik works

A long-distance move begins a few weeks before loading day. We plan these steps with you:

  • Survey or video appointment, then a fixed price
  • No-parking zone (Halteverbotszone) in Berlin (apply approx. 2–4 weeks in advance) and at the destination
  • Packing and securing the furniture with blankets and straps
  • Driving in line with driving and rest times, with two drivers if needed
  • Unloading and, on request, assembly at the destination

Driving times: how far a removal lorry gets in one day

For lorries over 3.5 t the EU driving-time rules apply: after 4.5 hours at the wheel, a break of at least 45 minutes, and no more than 9 hours of driving per day (10 hours twice between two weekly rest periods). At an average of around 75 km/h, Berlin–Munich (585 km) or Berlin–Cologne (574 km) can be driven in one day. For Zurich (856 km) one driver cannot manage it in a day – then two drivers share the trip or there is an overnight stop. Small quantities travel more cheaply as a part-load.

The lorry has to be able to stop at both addresses: in Berlin you apply for the no-parking zone at the road traffic authority (Straßenverkehrsbehörde) of the district office (Bezirksamt), and the signs go up at least 72 hours beforehand; at the destination the rules of the local authority apply. On request we take care of interim storage, packing and assembly at the destination.
