Dörpfeldstraße or WISTA: planning moves in Adlershof

move without stress

Unsere Firma Moving help for Adlershof – period buildings, new builds and offices, planned by our team from Moabit.
The railway embankment of the Görlitz line divides Adlershof: to the north-east lie the established residential quarters around Dörpfeldstraße, to the south-west the WISTA science city. For a private move, office move or furniture transport we plan the route and access depending on the side.
Because Adlershof was built on wet meadows, an eaves height of 12 metres applied – the houses around the market square mostly have two to four storeys. New flats on the former airfield often have a lift. We add a packing service, small transport and part-load transport as needed.

Questions and answers about moving in Adlershof

Key answers for your move in Berlin Adlershof

Short answers on access, parking restrictions, lifts, office moves and costs in Adlershof – for planning your move, transport and additional services.

Adlershof has only around ten access roads, and only two streets pass under the embankment of the Görlitz railway. The Adlergestell (B 96a) runs parallel; the Adlershof junction of the A 113 lies in the neighbouring Johannisthal. We choose the route depending on which side of the railway you live on.

Adlershof: residential quarters on Dörpfeldstraße, science city on the Teltow Canal

Adlershof in the Treptow-Köpenick district is divided by the raised embankment of the Görlitz railway. To the north-east lie the established residential quarters with Dörpfeldstraße as the shopping and main street and the small market square; to the south-west lies the science city with the WISTA technology park, the natural science institutes of Humboldt University and the BESSY synchrotron. Since the 2010s, new residential quarters by the Landschaftspark have been built on the former Johannisthal-Adlershof airfield. Praktik Transport und Umzüge – known under the brand “Beste Umzug” – is based in Moabit (Stromstraße 21) and plans moves on both sides of the railway after a survey.

What matters for logistics: Adlershof has only around ten access roads, only two streets pass under the railway embankment, and the six-lane Adlergestell (B 96a) runs parallel. Four S-Bahn lines stop at Adlershof station, and tram 63 crosses the neighbourhood. On busy roads such as Adlergestell and Rudower Chaussee, a removal lorry can hardly stop on the spur of the moment. That is why we plan every private move in Adlershof with a survey, so that the parking restriction, access and carrying route are right from the start.

Whether you are moving from a flat in the two- to four-storey houses around the market square, from a new build on Newtonstraße or Volmerstraße, or need a business relocation from the technology park – we put together the right team, vehicle and equipment. Families, institute staff and start-ups get the same process: survey, transparent quote, packing, transport and assembly from a single source. This makes a move into or out of Adlershof, within Berlin or as a long-distance move, plannable and predictable.

Moving services in Adlershof: from private moves to piano transport

For the Adlershof neighbourhood we offer the complete range of services of a moving company – tailored to the typical residential and commercial situations on site. A classic private move often takes us from the period buildings around Dörpfeldstraße or from the quiet residential streets near the Köllnische Heide to new flats in the neighbourhood or beyond. At the same time, the science city with its institutes, laboratories and technology companies along Rudower Chaussee and Groß-Berliner Damm regularly attracts businesses that need a smooth business relocation without interrupting operations.

Especially in the Adlershof science city, where institutes and residential buildings are close together, careful planning is important: loading zones, access routes and lifts must be coordinated in advance. For families moving out of a large flat near Adlershof S-Bahn station, we often combine house clearance and the move in one appointment to save time and costs. Piano transport out of the often narrow stairwells of the older houses around the market square is also part of our everyday work – here our team uses suitable equipment. Anyone who only wants to transport a few pieces of furniture benefits from our part-load transport, in which several small jobs are sensibly combined. This way you get a tailored solution from a single source for every moving situation in Adlershof.

Parking restriction zone and parking when moving in Adlershof

Anyone moving in Adlershof knows the problem: around Dörpfeldstraße with its small shops, along the Adlergestell or in the more densely built streets near Adlershof S-Bahn station, free parking space is often in short supply. Loading zones are rare, residents' parking is regulated in many sections, and on busy roads such as Rudower Chaussee, stopping with a removal van quickly becomes a problem. For this reason, applying for a parking restriction zone is standard for us on every larger move in Adlershof.

We take care of the complete organisation: we make sure the signs are in place in good time before the moving date, handle the application to the road traffic authority of the Treptow-Köpenick district office and ensure that there is enough space for our removal lorry right outside the front door on moving day. This saves valuable time when carrying and reduces the risk of scratches or damage caused by long carrying routes across the street.

Especially in the residential streets on both sides of Dörpfeldstraße, where older buildings meet narrow pavements, a reserved parking restriction zone is worth its weight in gold. The same applies to the more modern residential complexes near Newtonstraße, where delivery zones are often further restricted by cycle paths and grass verges. Contact us early so that we can arrange the signage in time before your moving date – ideally four to six weeks in advance, because according to service.berlin.de processing takes about 4 weeks. This way your move in Adlershof runs smoothly, without searching for parking and without unnecessary waiting times for the moving team.

Moving costs in Adlershof: transparent fixed prices instead of surprises

The moving costs for a move in Adlershof depend on several factors: the size of the flat, the floor, whether there is a lift, the moving volume and the distance between the old and new address. A move within the neighbourhood, for example from a period flat on Dörpfeldstraße to a new build on Rudower Chaussee, differs significantly in price from a larger long-distance move to another city or abroad within Europe. On our overview page Moving costs Berlin you will find a detailed classification of the usual price ranges for moves in Berlin.

For Adlershof the following applies: flats in the older houses on Dörpfeldstraße are often smaller in layout and without a lift – this increases the staff and time required for moving furniture over several floors. New builds in the science city and in the newer residential quarters, on the other hand, usually have a lift and sufficiently wide stairwells, which speeds up the process. Both factors are included in our individual fixed-price quote, which we prepare after a free survey or virtual assessment.

We calculate transparently and without hidden extra costs: the agreed fixed price covers staff, vehicle, packing materials as agreed and the agreed additional services such as furniture assembly or house clearance. Parking restriction zones and any necessary part-load transport are also priced in beforehand, so there are no nasty surprises on moving day. For companies in the WISTA technology park we also offer individual quotes that minimise downtime and disrupt ongoing operations as little as possible. This keeps the move in Adlershof – whether private or commercial – financially plannable and comprehensible.

Period buildings, new builds and furniture lifts: moving in Adlershof's different residential areas

Adlershof combines very different building types in a small area, each of which places its own demands on a professional move. In the residential quarters around Dörpfeldstraße and the market square there are predominantly two- to four-storey houses – on the former wet meadows the eaves height was limited to 12 metres – some with narrow stairwells, tight bends and no lift. Here we use a furniture lift where needed to transport bulky furniture, wardrobes or a piano safely via the balcony or window instead of laboriously carrying them through narrow stairwells.

The situation is quite different in the Adlershof science city: along Rudower Chaussee, Newtonstraße and Volmerstraße, modern residential and office buildings have been built in recent years, often with a lift, wide corridors and good access for delivery vehicles. For moves into these new builds a furniture lift is usually not necessary; instead, we pay particular attention to protecting floors, lifts and shared entrance areas, which are often finished to a high standard in modern residential complexes.

In larger residential complexes we also come across lifts with limited cabin sizes, which require larger furniture to be dismantled with foresight. Our team therefore makes a precise assessment at every survey: how wide is the stairwell, how big is the lift, is a furniture lift advisable or even necessary? In addition, we offer furniture assembly so that beds, wardrobes and shelves are ready for use straight away at the new home – whether in a listed period building or a modern new build in the science city.

Popular moving routes from Adlershof in Berlin and beyond

From Adlershof, many moves lead to neighbouring parts of Treptow-Köpenick or to other Berlin districts. We particularly often handle moves towards Köpenick, where families often move from the science city to the old town by the water on the Dahme and Spree, and to Oberschöneweide, which is also in high demand with its converted industrial sites and new loft flats. The route to the northern shore of the Müggelsee in Friedrichshagen with its Bölschestraße is also one of the popular routes for customers looking for a neighbourhood with a village character, similar to Dörpfeldstraße in Adlershof itself.

Within the district, moves to Alt-Treptow, Plänterwald and Baumschulenweg are also not uncommon, for example when students or young families want to move closer to the Spree or Treptower Park. Thanks to good connections via S-Bahn, tram and the urban motorway, these routes can be planned reliably, even with a larger moving volume or a tight time window.

Beyond the district boundaries, we regularly organise moves from Adlershof to other German cities or abroad within Europe. For these routes we recommend our page on long-distance moves, where you will find information on the process, costs and planning of longer distances. Whether your new home is just a few kilometres away or in another federal state – we tailor the vehicle size, team size and schedule individually to the route.

Booking a move in Adlershof: how we work together

A good move in Adlershof begins long before the actual moving day. In the first step we get in touch, either by phone or via our contact form, and discuss the key details: your current address in the neighbourhood, the new address, the desired date and the approximate moving volume. For larger moves, for example from multi-room flats near Adlershof S-Bahn station or from office premises in the technology park, this is followed by a free on-site survey in which we assess the stairwell, lift, access routes and any need for a parking restriction zone.

Based on this survey we prepare a detailed fixed-price quote that includes all agreed services – from pure transport to furniture assembly and the clearance of items you no longer need. Once you accept, we take care of all the organisational details: applying for the parking restriction zone at the responsible office in Treptow-Köpenick, providing packing materials and assigning a moving team to suit the size of the flat.

On moving day itself, our trained staff take care of professional packing, transport and, on request, assembling the furniture in the new flat – whether in a period building on Dörpfeldstraße, a new build on Rudower Chaussee or an office building in the science city. For senior citizens moving from a flat in Adlershof they have lived in for many years to barrier-free accommodation, we also offer our sensitive senior move, which places particular emphasis on calm, care and personal support. After the move is complete we remain available for questions, so that the final touches in the new flat also go smoothly.

Insider tip Adlershof: the neighbourhood away from the science city

Anyone new to Adlershof often only knows the science city with its institutes and research facilities along Rudower Chaussee at first. Yet it is worth taking a look at the quieter, greener part of the neighbourhood: the Köllnische Heide urban forest on the northern edge is the neighbourhood's real recreational area and can be reached on foot from many residential streets – a genuine counterbalance to everyday research life in the science city. The Teltow Canal, which lines the southern edge of Adlershof, also offers quiet paths for a walk straight after moving into the new neighbourhood.

Those interested in history will find traces of aviation history in the Aerodynamic Park with its Large Wind Tunnel and Spin Tower: in 1909 the first German motorised airfield began operating here, and in 1912 the German Research Institute for Aviation was added. This past can still be felt today in street names and individual surviving buildings, and makes a walk through the neighbourhood a small journey through time – a nice first outing to get to know the new surroundings after the move.

For everyday life, Dörpfeldstraße with its small shops, cafés and the Verklärungskirche south-east of the market square is a good place to go, while the modern infrastructure around the campus with its canteen, library and event rooms offers further points of contact. If you still want to get rid of furniture, books or household items after the move, you can use our house clearance service instead of storing things unnecessarily long in cellar compartments. In this way Adlershof combines research and quiet residential streets – a neighbourhood that still has a lot to discover after the move.

Office and business relocation in the Adlershof science city

According to the Treptow-Köpenick district office, Adlershof is one of Germany's most successful high-technology locations and has been developed since 1991. The science city includes a science and technology park, non-university research institutions and the natural science institutes of Humboldt University. The location is also Berlin's largest media location. The site is operated by WISTA Management GmbH; a landscape park lies on the former airfield site.

For an office move, clear arrangements are what matter most here: clarify with your landlord, property management or the respective site operator when loading zones and goods lifts can be used and whether your building specifies time windows for deliveries. We plan packing, dismantling, transport and reassembly around this so that operations are interrupted for as short a time as possible. For technology such as laboratory equipment or sensitive devices, please tell us about any special features in advance.

On the street, the same applies as everywhere in Berlin: you apply for a parking restriction at the road traffic authority in the Roads and Green Spaces Office of Treptow-Köpenick ([email protected]). According to service.berlin.de the minimum fee is 21.00 euros, and processing takes about 4 weeks. Further information can be found under Business relocation.

In your enquiry, state the floor space, number of workstations, number of floors and lift size, and name your preferred moving days. This makes it possible to plan an office move in stages, for example at the weekend.

Adlershof village centre: Dörpfeldstraße, market square and residential areas

Adlershof has an older history than the science city. According to the district office, the Adlershof estate (Zinsgut) was founded on 14 April 1754, and in 1874 the village got a stop on the Görlitz railway. According to the district office, Dörpfeldstraße is the neighbourhood's main traffic artery. Along it lie the market square with the Lion Fountain and the former Old Community School, today a community and cultural centre. The Johannisthal-Adlershof airfield opened in 1909.

According to the district office, new residential quarters with shops, hotels and restaurants are being built around the science city. For moves this means: in the village centre older houses dominate, in the newer quarters flats with lifts – please tell us in your enquiry whether a building has a lift and how big it is. This also makes it easier to plan pianos and other heavy items; our piano transport is a separate service for this.

Before the moving date, also check current notices from the district office about roadworks, for example on Dörpfeldstraße. You can find the neighbouring areas on the pages for Johannisthal and Altglienicke.

If a student or employee of the science city is moving, a small move is often enough. Tell us the amount and the floor so that we can plan accordingly.

Always one step ahead.
