Removal company Berlin

One moving team for the whole city-state

move stress-free

Unsere Firma Moving helpers for all twelve Berlin districts and the directly adjoining Brandenburg area.
Berlin is both a city and a federal state, with twelve districts and 97 neighbourhoods (Ortsteile). Whether a private move, office move or furniture transport – our team from Stromstraße in Moabit plans every address individually, from period buildings to houses on the edge of the city.
Because each district orders its own parking restrictions, we clarify which office is responsible for both the old and the new address at the same time. A packing service, small transport and part load save time, effort and unnecessary costs.

City-state of Berlin: twelve districts and the surrounding area at a glance

As a removal company based in the capital, Praktik Transport und Umzüge works throughout the state of Berlin from Stromstraße in Moabit. As a city-state, Berlin is both a city and a federal state and is divided into twelve districts, each with its own character: Mitte, Pankow, Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf, Spandau, Steglitz-Zehlendorf, Tempelhof-Schöneberg, Neukölln, Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg, Treptow-Köpenick, Marzahn-Hellersdorf, Lichtenberg and Reinickendorf. Whether you are moving from a period building in Prenzlauer Berg to a new-build flat in Adlershof or from Spandau to Falkensee in the surrounding area, we organise your move in the state of Berlin reliably and from a single source.

Moves to growing neighbourhoods such as Rummelsburg, Adlershof, Buch and the Europacity quarter by the main station are particularly in demand, but classic residential areas such as Charlottenburg, Wilmersdorf, Zehlendorf and Köpenick also remain very popular. As Berlin is completely surrounded by Brandenburg, we also regularly handle moves into the immediate surrounding area, for example to Potsdam, Teltow, Bernau, Falkensee, Oranienburg or Königs Wusterhausen. These commuter-belt municipalities are closely linked to the city via the A10 (Berlin Ring), A111, A113, A114 and A115 motorways as well as numerous regional train and S-Bahn lines.

Our moving teams plan for the conditions in each district: from the parking situation in Mitte and the narrow streets in Wedding to the detached-house areas in Rahnsdorf or Frohnau. You can find out more about our main location on our Berlin location page. Whether a small student move in Friedrichshain or a complex company move in Tempelhof, we clarify routes, permit offices and suitable time windows for a smooth process throughout the state of Berlin.

Regional particularities when moving in the state of Berlin

A move in the state of Berlin differs in many ways from a move in more rural regions. The city is characterised by Gründerzeit period buildings with high storeys and narrow stairwells, for example in Prenzlauer Berg, Neukölln or the Bergmannkiez in Kreuzberg. Lifts are often in short supply here, which is why careful carrying of heavy furniture over several floors is essential. At the same time, there are modern new-build areas such as the Europacity, the Schumacher Quartier in Tegel or the Wasserstadt Spandau, where wide lifts and underground car parks make the work easier.

Heritage protection plays a role in many Berlin neighbourhoods, for example in the Rheinisches Viertel or the Kolonie Grunewald, which requires additional coordination with the district's road traffic authority for parking restrictions and scaffolding. Inner-city traffic, especially along the A100 city ring, the A115 city motorway (formerly AVUS) and busy roads such as Karl-Marx-Straße or Frankfurter Allee, calls for good route planning to avoid traffic jams and roadworks. The numerous waterways – the Spree, the Havel and the Landwehr Canal – also shape traffic routing in districts such as Treptow-Köpenick and Charlottenburg.

Parking space is often scarce in inner-city districts such as Mitte, Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg or Schöneberg, which is why for many moves we set up a parking restriction zone early, so that the removal van can park right outside the front door. In outer districts such as Marzahn-Hellersdorf, Reinickendorf or Köpenick, the streets are wider and parking is usually easier to organise. We take these small-scale differences into account in every plan, so that your move in the state of Berlin goes ahead without nasty surprises.

Moving costs in the state of Berlin: transparent prices at a glance

The costs of a move in the state of Berlin depend on flat size, floor, distance and the additional services you want. Because we carry out short inner-city moves as well as moves into the surrounding Brandenburg area or to other federal states, we calculate every quote individually. As a rule, a local move within Berlin is usually cheaper than a long-distance move, as less driving time and fewer kilometres are involved.

ServicePrice
1-room flatfrom €375
2-room flatfrom €589
3-room flatfrom €894
Long-distance move (nationwide)from €4.10 per kilometre
Parking restriction zone per day€30–100

These guide prices serve as orientation for moves within the state of Berlin, for example between Spandau and Marzahn or between Steglitz and Lichtenberg. For moves into the nearby Brandenburg area, for example to Potsdam, Bernau or Teltow, we charge the additional kilometres transparently. Additional services such as clearing cellars and lofts, piano transport for bulky instruments or a part load for smaller quantities are calculated separately and can reduce the total price considerably if the full lorry is not needed.

The floor is also important for cost planning: moves in Berlin's many period buildings without a lift, for example on the fourth floor in Prenzlauer Berg or Wedding, require more staff and time than a move in a modern new build with a lift in the Europacity. We therefore always recommend a free on-site survey or a detailed phone call, so that we can draw up a binding and fair quote for your move in the state of Berlin.

Local moves within the state of Berlin: fast and flexible

The classic local move takes place within Berlin's city limits or in the immediate surrounding area, for example from Charlottenburg to Wilmersdorf, from Pankow to Weißensee or from Köpenick to Adlershof. Such moves are usually completed within a day and can be planned flexibly, as the distances are short. For private moves in the state of Berlin, we offer tailor-made packages ranging from simple furniture transport support to a complete all-round service with packing, assembly and dismantling. More on this on our private move page.

A common scenario in the capital: moving within one neighbourhood, for example from the third to the fourth floor in the same building in Neukölln, or a short change of address within Friedrichshain. We calculate these small-scale moves fairly too, because a complete lorry is not always needed. For smaller quantities, for example if only one room or individual pieces of furniture are to be transported, our part load is worthwhile: your belongings are transported together with other consignments, which saves you money.

The short distances within the state of Berlin allow us to offer short-notice moving dates too, which is especially important when changing flats with tight handover deadlines, for example when moving out in Steglitz at the end of the month. As many streets in the city centre, for example around Kollwitzplatz or on Simon-Dach-Straße, have restricted access or parking bans, we check in advance whether a parking restriction zone makes sense. This way your local move within the state of Berlin runs smoothly, whether within one district or across the city, for example from Spandau to Köpenick.

Long-distance moves from and to the state of Berlin

In addition to local moves, we regularly carry out long-distance moves from and to the state of Berlin – both within Germany and across borders. Berlin is conveniently located on several important motorways: the A2 takes you to Hanover and the Ruhr area, the A9 towards Leipzig and Munich, the A11 leads to Szczecin and the Baltic coast, and the A24 connects Berlin with Hamburg. The Berlin Ring, the A10, serves as the central distribution route for all long-distance moves from the state of Berlin.

For orientation: it is around 290 kilometres to Hamburg, about 190 kilometres to Leipzig, approximately 200 kilometres to Dresden, around 570 kilometres to Cologne and about 590 kilometres to Munich. For all these routes, we calculate long-distance moves from €4.10 per kilometre, with factors such as volume, floor and required additional services affecting the final price. Moves into the nearer surrounding area, for example to Potsdam, Rathenow or Frankfurt (Oder), are part of our everyday work and are planned with the same care as a move across the country.

Precise scheduling is crucial for long-distance moves: loading and unloading times, traffic on the A100 city motorway and possible roadworks on the Berlin Ring must be taken into account so that your household goods arrive at their destination on time. For moves with a smaller volume, for example when only a few cubic metres need to be transported, we recommend our part load, which secures you a place on an already planned long-distance route and saves you real money. This makes every long-distance move from or to the state of Berlin plannable and predictable in cost.

Our services for your move in the state of Berlin

As a removal company, we offer a wide range of services throughout the state of Berlin, tailored to the different needs of our customers. Whether you live in a period building in Schöneberg, a new build in Buch or a terraced house in Rahnsdorf, we have the right solution.

  • Private move: complete moving service for flats and houses throughout the state of Berlin
  • Company move: office and commercial moves with minimal downtime, ideal for companies in Mitte or Adlershof
  • Part load: affordable transport of smaller quantities within Berlin and beyond
  • House clearance: professional clearing of cellars, lofts and flats
  • Parking restriction zone: application and setup for a smooth moving day
  • Piano transport: safe transport of uprights and grand pianos by trained staff
  • Senior move: sensitive support when moving to age-appropriate housing
  • Student move: affordable moving packages for students in Berlin's university districts

We combine these services flexibly depending on the type of move. A company move in Charlottenburg, for example, often needs a parking restriction zone on busy Kantstraße, while a student move in Friedrichshain usually manages without major additional services. Combinations such as clearing the cellar before a senior move in Zehlendorf can also be booked with us from a single source.

Because we work throughout the state of Berlin – from Spandau to Köpenick, from Reinickendorf to Neukölln – we check structural features, narrow stairwells and parking situations for every address and adapt our services accordingly, so that your move runs smoothly.

How your move in the state of Berlin works: step by step

A well-organised move in the state of Berlin begins long before the actual moving day. First, we hold a consultation, either by phone, by video or directly on site in your flat, for example in Pankow, Tempelhof or Marzahn. We record the volume, floor, accessibility and special items such as pianos or works of art.

In the second step, we draw up a transparent quote that covers all the services you want – from a simple transport run to a full service with packing. If needed, we apply early for a parking restriction zone, so that our removal van can park right outside the door on moving day, which is crucial especially in densely built-up districts such as Mitte or Prenzlauer Berg.

On moving day itself, our trained teams work in a structured way: first the furniture is dismantled and wrapped for protection, then it is carried by practised movers who also safely handle narrow stairwells in Berlin's Gründerzeit buildings. For bulky or heavy items, we use professional equipment such as furniture dollies, straps and, if needed, an external lift. After the transport, we take care of the reassembly of the furniture on request and do a basic final clean of the old flat.

Finally, we carry out a joint handover check, in which you can satisfy yourself that your household goods are complete and in perfect condition. For larger projects, such as a company move in Adlershof or a complete house move to Zehlendorf, we also plan buffer times so that we can react to traffic on the A100 or unexpected situations. This clearly structured process ensures that your move in the state of Berlin is professional and stress-free from start to finish.

Moves for seniors, students and businesses in the state of Berlin

Berlin is a city of diversity – and this is also reflected in different moving needs. For older residents who want to move, for example, from a detached house in Rahnsdorf to an accessible flat in Steglitz, we offer a sensitive senior move, in which we take particular time over organisation, sorting and emotional support.

Students at the Humboldt University, the FU Berlin in Dahlem or the TU Berlin in Charlottenburg, on the other hand, appreciate our affordable student move, which is specially tailored to smaller flats, shared-flat rooms and tight budgets. Especially at the start of semester in October, moves pile up in student neighbourhoods such as Friedrichshain, Wedding or Moabit, which is why booking early is advisable.

Businesses benefit from our company move service, which is specifically designed to minimise disruption to operations. Whether moving a start-up out of a coworking space in Mitte or relocating a complete office floor to the Adlershof business park, we plan the transport of furniture, IT and files so that business can resume as quickly as possible. For clearing old storage areas or offices, we also offer professional house clearance.

Special items also require special know-how: for safe piano transport from a period flat in Wilmersdorf or a concert hall, we plan the team and special equipment. Whatever the target group and whatever the district, we adapt our services flexibly to the requirements throughout the state of Berlin.

Applying for a parking restriction in Berlin: responsibility by district

In Berlin, you submit the application to the road traffic authority of the district in which the parking restriction is to be put up. According to service.berlin.de, in some districts it is part of the Public Order Office (Ordnungsamt), in others of the Roads and Green Spaces Office (Straßen- und Grünflächenamt). The application is informal, and there are no special requirements.

  • Fee: At least 21 euros; the final amount depends on scope and duration.
  • Processing: According to service.berlin.de, it takes about four weeks. So allow at least one month's lead time.
  • Signs: The authority only issues the order and does not put up any traffic signs. For that you hire a company, such as a site safety firm.

For moves within Berlin, two districts are often involved, because the moving-out and moving-in addresses each need their own order from the responsible district. You can find the contact details of the offices for each district at service.berlin.de.

Our guide to parking restriction zones gives an overview of the process and application, and you can find our service under parking restriction zone. The city of Berlin with all its neighbourhoods can be found on the Berlin page.

As examples, service.berlin.de lists, among others, the Pankow road traffic authority (telephone (030) 90295-0), the Neukölln road traffic authority (telephone (030) 90239-2181) and the Mitte Roads and Green Spaces Office (telephone (030) 9018-22823). Opening hours vary from district to district, so check them before a visit.

Berlin districts: moving in Berlin's twelve districts

Berlin consists of twelve districts (Bezirke), whose district offices, according to berlin.de, handle local administration. For your move, it is worth looking at the district in question, because the road traffic authority, parking space and buildings differ.

  • Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf: seven neighbourhoods, with the Kurfürstendamm and Charlottenburg Palace.
  • Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg: the smallest and most densely populated district, with only two neighbourhoods.
  • Lichtenberg: ten neighbourhoods, including Friedrichsfelde with the Tierpark.
  • Marzahn-Hellersdorf: five neighbourhoods, large housing estates and the Gardens of the World.
  • Mitte: six neighbourhoods from Wedding to Tiergarten; our premises are in Moabit.
  • Neukölln: five neighbourhoods, including Britz with the Horseshoe Estate (UNESCO World Heritage).
  • Pankow: the most populous district, 13 neighbourhoods.
  • Reinickendorf: eleven neighbourhoods, with Lake Tegel and Frohnau.
  • Spandau: nine neighbourhoods, the old town and the Citadel on the Havel and Spree.
  • Steglitz-Zehlendorf: eight neighbourhoods, with the FU Berlin in Dahlem and the Wannsee.
  • Tempelhof-Schöneberg: six neighbourhoods, Rathaus Schöneberg and Tempelhofer Feld.
  • Treptow-Köpenick: 15 neighbourhoods, more than any other district, with the Großer Müggelsee.

Pankow shows how varied a district can be: according to the district office, it has 13 neighbourhoods, from the densely built Gründerzeit quarter of Prenzlauer Berg to rural areas such as Blankenfelde and Karow.

After moving in, you register within 14 days – according to service.berlin.de, free of charge, online or with an appointment at a Citizens' Office (Bürgeramt). Read more about the city in our guide for newcomers; for the surrounding area, see the Brandenburg page.

There are also big differences within a single district. In Pankow, for example, the district office describes Niederschönhausen with villas and Gründerzeit tenement buildings, and Französisch Buchholz as the district's oldest village. That is why we clarify access, floors and parking space for each address rather than as a blanket rule for each district.

According to service.berlin.de, you can book appointments at any Berlin Citizens' Office, including by phone on 115. With eID and a BundID account, you can also register online.
