Courtyards, Treptowers, Spree bank: moves in Alt-Treptow

move without stress

Unsere Firma Moving help for Alt-Treptow – from the rear building in the Karl-Kunger-Kiez to the office on the Spree, planned from Moabit.
Alt-Treptow borders Kreuzberg, Friedrichshain, Neukölln and Plänterwald and is the northernmost neighbourhood of the district. From 1887 onwards, tenement houses with rear courtyards were built here – for a private move this often means side wings, rear buildings and longer distances for furniture transport.
Around Puschkinallee, Bouchéstraße and Kiefholzstraße parking space is scarce; at the Treptowers and in the new builds on the Spree, property managers regulate deliveries. We plan the packing service, small transport and part-load transport to suit your address.

We check the access routes to your address in advance, for example near Bouchéstraße or Puschkinallee, and choose the vehicle size and arrival time accordingly. If necessary, we also set up a parking restriction zone to ensure smooth access.

Alt-Treptow: period buildings, rear courtyards and the Spree bank by Treptower Park

Alt-Treptow is one of the most varied neighbourhoods in the Treptow-Köpenick district and lies directly on the Spree, just a few minutes' walk from Kreuzberg. Anyone moving between Puschkinallee, Bouchéstraße and Kiefholzstraße knows the typical mix of Gründerzeit period buildings in the Karl-Kunger-Kiez, modern office towers such as the Treptowers and quiet residential streets near Treptower Park. Praktik Transport und Umzüge – known under the brand Beste Umzug – is based in Moabit (Stromstraße 21) and plans moves in this densely built neighbourhood on the Spree after a survey.

Treptower Park S-Bahn station on the Ringbahn (S41, S42, S8, S85, S9) and several bus routes make Alt-Treptow easy to reach, but this very central location also means busy streets and scarce parking on moving days. We therefore plan every private move with an eye on the traffic around Elsenbrücke and the B 96a to avoid waiting times and stress.

Whether you are moving out of a period flat with high ceilings near the Treptower Park landscape park or into a new build on the Spree – we expect narrow hallways, narrow courtyard gates and limited access in many side streets. Our team matches the vehicle size, number of staff and time window individually to your address. We work closely with the responsible authorities when a parking restriction zone is needed for moving day.

Alt-Treptow is also a popular location for start-ups and creative offices in the listed factory buildings on Lohmühlenstraße and Kiefholzstraße. For these clients we offer structured business relocations with minimal downtime. Whether a small flat move or a complex office move – we make sure your move in Alt-Treptow runs smoothly, transparently and without nasty surprises. Get in touch and we will be happy to prepare a no-obligation quote tailored exactly to your street and floor.

Our moving services in the Alt-Treptow neighbourhood

For Alt-Treptow we offer the complete range of services of a professional moving company – tailored to local conditions. A classic private move from a period flat on Karl-Kunger-Straße to a new flat in Baumschulenweg is just as much part of our everyday work as moving a family from the Karl-Kunger-Kiez to Adlershof.

Companies in the office complexes on the Spree, for example near the Treptowers, also rely on our business relocation service. We plan the move of IT equipment, filing cabinets and workstations so that business operations are interrupted as little as possible, often in stages at the weekend or in the evening.

For customers who only want to transport individual pieces of furniture or a few cubic metres, our part-load transport is worthwhile – particularly practical if only a sofa or a few boxes need to go from Alt-Treptow to another city. We transport valuable instruments such as a grand piano or upright piano from one of the stucco-decorated period flats with special equipment as part of our piano transport – professionally secured and carried gently through narrow stairwells.

  • Professional furniture assembly service directly at your new home
  • Senior move with particularly considerate planning and support
  • House clearance of cellar, attic or entire flats before moving out
  • Application for a parking restriction zone for smooth loading

Especially for older residents around Treptower Park, who have often lived in their flat for a very long time, we place particular emphasis on patience, clear communication and the careful handling of personal mementos during a senior move. After transport, we can also professionally reassemble wardrobes, beds and shelves on request, so that you feel at home in your new surroundings from day one.

Parking restriction zone and parking when moving in Alt-Treptow

Parking space is a scarce commodity in Alt-Treptow. Especially in the narrow streets of the Karl-Kunger-Kiez, along Kiefholzstraße and around Bouchéstraße, there are hardly any free spaces during the day. Anyone organising a removal van themselves often loses valuable time looking for a parking space here or risks long carrying distances through narrow rear courtyards.

For this reason we recommend setting up a parking restriction zone for almost every move in this neighbourhood. We handle the application to the road traffic authority of the Treptow-Köpenick district office, take care of signposting the street in good time and make sure there is space for our vehicle right outside the front door on moving day. This not only saves time but also reduces the risk of scratches on furniture or damage from long carrying distances across the pavement.

Especially near busy areas such as Puschkinallee, the riverbank at Treptower Park or the blocks near Elsenbrücke, putting up the signs with enough lead time is crucial, as these streets are also important for general traffic. According to service.berlin.de processing takes about 4 weeks; we plan the parking restriction zone so that it is in place in good time before your moving date.

  • Application and signage of the parking restriction zone from a single source
  • Taking into account narrow courtyards and narrow access roads in Alt-Treptow
  • Coordination with neighbours and property management if necessary
  • Alternatives for the parking space if the date is too tight for a parking restriction

Even if no official parking restriction zone is wanted, our moving teams check the street situation on site in advance, for example by asking residents or with an on-site survey, so that everything runs smoothly on moving day and your move in Alt-Treptow proceeds without unnecessary delays.

Moving costs in Alt-Treptow – transparent fixed prices

The moving costs in Alt-Treptow depend on several factors: the size of the flat, the floor level, whether there is a lift and the distance to the new address. A move from a third-floor period flat without a lift near Karl-Kunger-Straße naturally requires more effort than a move within a modern new build with a lift on the Spree.

On our page on Moving costs Berlin we explain in detail which criteria go into the calculation. For Alt-Treptow we also take local features into account, such as the parking situation, the need for a parking restriction zone or particularly narrow stairwells in the period buildings of the Karl-Kunger-Kiez.

We always work with fixed prices instead of vague hourly estimates, so that you have full cost transparency from the start. After a free survey – also by video if you are very busy at work – you receive a binding quote covering all agreed services, such as packing materials, furniture assembly or the transport of a piano.

  • Free on-site or video survey of your flat in Alt-Treptow
  • Binding fixed price instead of nasty surprises at the end of the month
  • Individual consideration of floor, lift and access route
  • Optional additional services such as house clearance or a parking restriction zone can be booked as a package

Especially for moves with special requirements, such as transporting a grand piano or extensive office furniture, a detailed survey is worthwhile to estimate the effort realistically. This way you avoid renegotiations on moving day and know from the outset what the total costs will be – fairly calculated for the housing market in Alt-Treptow.

Period buildings, new builds and furniture lifts: housing in Alt-Treptow

Alt-Treptow is characterised by an interesting contrast: on the one hand there are the classic Gründerzeit period buildings in the Karl-Kunger-Kiez and along Elsenstraße and Bouchéstraße, often with high ceilings, stucco elements and narrow stairwells without a lift. On the other hand, modern new builds and converted industrial buildings along the Spree shape the neighbourhood, for example the Treptowers, which were built in the 1990s on the site of the main building of the AEG electrical equipment works.

For moves from period flats on the third or fourth floor without a lift we often use a furniture lift. It transports furniture, moving boxes and bulky items such as wardrobes or a piano directly up or down the façade instead of laboriously carrying them through narrow stairwells. This protects both the stairwell and your furniture and noticeably speeds up the entire move.

In the new builds on the Spree, where lifts are available, the challenge tends to be small lift cabins, short access routes for lorries and sometimes regulated delivery times set by the property managers. Here we coordinate with facility management in advance so that moving day runs without delays.

  • Use of a furniture lift for period flats without a lift
  • Gentle transport of pianos, grand pianos and bulky furniture through narrow stairwells
  • Coordination with property managers in modern residential complexes on the Spree
  • Professional furniture assembly after arrival at your new home

Whether you are moving out of a listed period building near Treptower Park or a modern loft in a former factory building – our team brings the right equipment and finds a practical solution for every structural feature in Alt-Treptow.

Popular moving routes from Alt-Treptow

Many of the moves we handle from Alt-Treptow lead to neighbouring parts of the Treptow-Köpenick district. Families and commuters particularly often move on to Plänterwald, which is popular with young families for its green character and proximity to the Spreepark, or to the quieter neighbourhood of Baumschulenweg with the Späth Arboretum and the detached houses in Späthsfelde.

Moves towards Adlershof are also part of our everyday work, especially for employees of the science and technology park there who move from a period flat in Alt-Treptow to a new build in the science city. Those who prefer it quieter and closer to the water often move on to Friedrichshagen on the Müggelsee or to the historic industrial location of Oberschöneweide with its renovated factory lofts.

For moves to the Köpenick neighbourhood, for example near the palace or the old town, we plan the route over the Spree and Dahme bridges according to the current traffic situation in order to avoid congestion on the main roads.

Quite often, however, moves from Alt-Treptow go far beyond the district boundaries. For moves to other federal states or abroad within Europe we offer reliable long-distance moves, in which we take the same care as with a move within the neighbourhood. Because we check the narrow streets in Alt-Treptow beforehand, we know how loading and route planning have to fit together so that long distances are also covered on schedule and without incident.

Process and booking of your move in Alt-Treptow

With us, a move in Alt-Treptow always begins with a no-obligation survey – on site in your flat on Puschkinallee or conveniently by video call if you are short on time. We record the number of rooms, the amount of household goods, the accessibility of the building and any special features such as a missing lift or a particularly heavy grand piano.

We then prepare a transparent fixed-price quote that includes all the services you want – from a classic private move to a business relocation and additional services such as house clearance or part-load transport. As soon as you confirm the quote, we take care of applying for a parking restriction zone for your street in good time if needed.

On moving day itself, our team arrives punctually with the right vehicle and the necessary equipment, such as a furniture lift for period flats without a lift. We carefully pack fragile items, secure furniture for transport and, on request, reassemble everything at the new home – including professional furniture assembly.

  • Free survey on site or by video
  • Binding fixed-price quote within a short time
  • Early organisation of the parking restriction zone and parking space
  • Moving day with a trained team and access checked in advance

We also try to fit in short-notice requests wherever possible, for example for a sudden change of flat or an urgently needed senior move. Contact us by phone or via our contact form – we will get back to you promptly with a suitable date for your move in Alt-Treptow.

Insider tip: living and moving around Treptower Park

Anyone moving to Alt-Treptow should take time to get to know the neighbourhood away from the moving boxes. The extensive Treptower Park with the striking Soviet War Memorial invites long walks along the Spree, while the Insel der Jugend can be reached via a small bridge and is a popular retreat for residents in summer.

Right on the bank lies the Badeschiff, a floating swimming pool in the Spree that becomes a cult meeting place in summer, while events and concerts often take place in the colder months. Just a stone's throw away, the Arena Berlin with its halls hosts cultural and music events that have made the neighbourhood known internationally. The traditional excursion restaurant Zenner at the park entrance recalls Alt-Treptow's long history as a destination for Berliners' day trips.

If you prefer something more urban, you will find a growing number of small cafés, workshops and owner-run shops in the Karl-Kunger-Kiez between Kiefholzstraße and Bouchéstraße, which have given the area a creative, slightly alternative character in recent years. The Molecule Man sculpture in the Spree, clearly visible from Elsenbrücke, has become an unofficial landmark of the neighbourhood.

Our tip for moving day: as many residents use the riverside paths and the park, it is worth planning larger transports for the morning if possible, when the streets around Puschkinallee are still quieter. That way the move can be done in a relaxed manner before the afternoon bustle around the park and the Spree bank begins – and you can use the rest of the day to explore your new home in Alt-Treptow.

Applying for a parking restriction in Alt-Treptow: authority, deadline and fee

Anyone moving in Alt-Treptow who needs space for the removal lorry outside the front door submits the application to the district's road traffic authority. According to service.berlin.de, the responsible body for Treptow-Köpenick is the district office's Roads and Green Spaces Office (road traffic authority), Neue Krugallee 4, 12435 Berlin, telephone (030) 90297-0. Appointments are available by telephone arrangement, and you can reach the authority by email at [email protected]. Before applying, briefly check on service.berlin.de whether the contact details have changed.

According to the Berlin administration, the procedure is straightforward: an informal application is sufficient and there are no prerequisites. The fee is at least 21.00 euros and depends on the extent and duration of the parking restriction. Service.berlin.de gives an average processing time of about 4 weeks. You should therefore plan the application early, ideally as soon as the moving date is fixed.

Important to know: the authority only issues the order but does not provide traffic signs. The signs must be put up by a specialist company, such as a roadworks safety firm. Your application should include the street, house number, length of the area and time period.

We are happy to advise you on how large the area for your move should be. You can find more about the process on our page on the parking restriction zone and in the overview for the Treptow-Köpenick district.

Alt-Treptow: residential areas between Treptower Park and the Spree

According to the district office, Alt-Treptow is the northernmost neighbourhood of Treptow-Köpenick and lies on the bank of the Spree. The residential areas north and west of Treptower Park have an inner-city character that is rare for the district. The district office describes how, from 1887 onwards, mass housing and rear-courtyard development shaped the area. For a move this means: flats in rear buildings and side wings often mean longer carrying distances, which we factor in during the survey.

Treptower Park was laid out from 1876 onwards to plans by the garden director Gustav Meyer. Near Treptower Park S-Bahn station is the harbour, from which excursion steamers depart from April to October. Anyone moving on such days should expect more traffic around the station and coordinate the approach route with us.

Businesses are also part of the neighbourhood: the district office mentions, among others, the street An den Treptowers with the Treptowers high-rise, Berlin's tallest office building until 2023, Eichenstraße with the ARENA Treptow, and Lohmühlenstraße, Bouchéstraße and the northern part of Kiefholzstraße as locations of former industrial companies. For office moves in this environment we coordinate delivery times and lift use with the property management in advance, see Business relocation.

If you move to a neighbouring area, such as Plänterwald or Baumschulenweg, the same road traffic authority remains responsible.

Always one step ahead.
