Moving to Graz: 895 km through Bosruck and Gleinalm

Berlin → Styria
Bosruck, Gleinalm, Graz basin: the way to the Mur
All the way to the north of Graz
We reach Austria's second-largest city from Berlin without a detour via Munich or Salzburg. We take the A9 to just before Hof, the A93 through the Upper Palatinate to Regensburg and the A3 to Passau. Beyond the Inn the Innkreis motorway takes us to the Voralpenkreuz interchange near Sattledt, where the Pyhrn motorway (A9) begins: between Spital am Pyhrn and Ardning it passes under the Bosruck, runs past Liezen and St. Michael, through the Gleinalm tunnel of a good eight kilometres and at Gratkorn into the Graz basin – around 895 km in total. We start at Stromstraße 21 in Moabit; we do not have a branch in Styria. At the survey in your Berlin flat or by video we record volume, special items and access at the new Graz address. This gives the written fixed price; liability under § 451e HGB at €620 per cubic metre, more cover on request.
Just under twelve hours of pure driving time, approx. 13.5 hrs with breaks: that is more than a single driver may drive in one day under EU Regulation 561/2006 – even without loading. For Graz, therefore, two drivers take turns at the wheel, or the lorry stays overnight and reaches the Mur on the second day. We plan in packing, assembly and, for narrow stairwells in Gründerzeit buildings, a furniture lift, plus the parking restrictions at both addresses and storage in Berlin if the dates do not match. The way from Graz back to Berlin works the same.

Price for Graz fixed
Tunnel toll, driver change and parking spaces already included
What the move to Graz costs is set after a survey – at your place in Berlin or in a video appointment; enquire on 01625978461. The fixed price includes lorry tolls in Germany and Austria, including the Bosruck and Gleinalm tunnels, two drivers or an overnight stay, and both parking restrictions. We calculate the way back to the Spree in the same way.
Quotes are available individually depending on effort, availability of dates and the scope of services required.

Long-Distance Move

No-Parking Zone

Berlin ↔ Graz in one lorry
No reloading between the Spree and the Mur
Around 895 kilometres lie between Moabit and Graz; we cross the border at Passau on the Inn. Within the EU single market, household goods need no declaration there; what requires planning is rather the driving times, two special toll sections on the Pyhrn motorway and parking restrictions in two large cities. We set off from Berlin (Stromstraße 21), and your household goods stay in the same vehicle with the same people for the whole route. You receive the fixed price in writing after the survey; liability is under the HGB, and we can arrange higher cover. Furniture assembly, a piano or interim storage can be added on request – also for a move from Styria to Berlin.

With around 63,000 students in the city, this is a common case. We clarify after your enquiry whether a trip fits your time window.

Preparation
Berlin ↔ Graz
Before heading to Graz we go through: the parking restriction in front of the Berlin flat via the district office and the parking space at the Graz address, dismantling and assembling the kitchen, beds and wardrobes, a piano or aquarium, storage if the new flat is still occupied, and the choice between a two-driver team and an overnight stay. After moving in, Austria has a registration obligation of three days: fill in the registration form (Meldezettel), have it signed by your accommodation provider and hand it in at the Magistrat (municipal office), or register online with ID Austria. Anyone moving back from Graz to Berlin deregisters there and registers in Berlin at the registration office (Bürgeramt) within two weeks.

Graz: capital of Styria on the Mur
With a good 300,000 inhabitants, Graz is Austria's second-largest city after Vienna. It lies on both banks of the Mur, where the river leaves the Alps and enters the Graz basin; in the middle of the city rises the Schloßberg with its clock tower. The old town has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1999, and Eggenberg Palace was added in 2010. Household goods from Berlin travel to Austria within the EU without formalities; the main thing to note is the short registration deadline after moving in.
We drive the way from Graz to Berlin with the same process: loading on the Mur, north via the Pyhrn motorway, Passau and Regensburg, unloading and assembly in Berlin. For the price, what counts is volume, floors, assembly and the around 895 km, not the direction.
Route: Upper Palatinate, Innviertel, Pyhrn, Gleinalm
After loading in Berlin we drive south on the A9, via a short stretch of the A72 to the Hochfranken junction and on the A93 (177 km) via Weiden to Regensburg. The A3 (137 km) leads along the Danube to Passau. Beyond the Inn at Suben we take the Innkreis motorway into the Innviertel and at the Voralpenkreuz onto the Pyhrn motorway: through the 5.5 km Bosruck tunnel into Styria, through the Enns valley past Liezen to St. Michael and through the Gleinalm tunnel (8.3 km) down to Gratkorn. Total route around 895 km, approx. 13.5 hrs with breaks.
In Germany, lorries over 3.5 t are limited to 80 km/h (§ 18 (5) StVO), and after at most 4.5 hours of driving time a 45-minute break follows. The Bosruck and Gleinalm tunnels are special toll sections with their own, higher lorry rate. Two drivers take turns, or we stay overnight and unload in Graz on the second day. The way back to Berlin is in reverse order.
Arriving in Graz: 17 districts, three days to register
The city is divided into 17 city districts. Around the Innere Stadt lie St. Leonhard, Geidorf, Lend, Gries and Jakomini, and further out, among others, Andritz, Mariatrost, Eggenberg, Straßgang and Puntigam. In the old town, with steep, narrow lanes such as Sporgasse or the baroque Herrengasse between Hauptplatz and Jakominiplatz, a lorry can rarely stop right in front of the building; so we need your address early. Graz is a statutory city, and you register at the Magistrat: within three days of moving in, with the registration form (Meldezettel) signed by your accommodation provider and an ID document; with ID Austria also online.
If you move back to Berlin, you deregister in Graz within three days around moving out and register in Berlin at the registration office (Bürgeramt) within two weeks – whether your new flat is in Friedrichshain, Steglitz or Wedding. We apply for the parking restriction in front of the Berlin building at the district office and schedule the unloading for your handover date.

What moves the price for Graz up or down
The volume counts most. For Graz there are also the 895 kilometres, the lorry tolls in two countries with the special rate for Bosruck and Gleinalm, and the decision between two drivers and a night on the road. Floor, lift, carrying distances in the old town and extras such as furniture assembly or a parking restriction zone also have an effect. If you take little with you, you save with a part load.
