Moving to Leoben: 856 km to the bend of the Mur

Berlin → Upper Styria
Mining town on the Mur: your move Berlin ↔ Leoben
Onto the S6 from St. Michael
The shortest lorry route to Leoben does not go via Munich and Salzburg but through eastern Bavaria: the A9 and A72 to Hof, the A93 to Regensburg, the A3 down the Danube to Passau. Beyond the Inn at Suben the Innkreis motorway takes over, and at the Voralpenkreuz interchange the Pyhrn motorway (A9) begins. It passes beneath the Bosruck and leads through the Enns valley past Liezen to St. Michael; we drive the last eight kilometres east on the Semmering expressway S6. Our base is Stromstraße 21 in Berlin-Moabit; we are not based in Styria. At the survey we clarify volume, lorry size, assembly and access at your Leoben address, and then give you the fixed price.
A good eleven hours at the wheel, approx. 13 hrs with breaks: this route is clearly above the daily driving time that EU Regulation 561/2006 allows one driver. For Leoben we therefore plan a two-person team taking turns, or an overnight stay with arrival in the Mur valley the next day. Liability is under § 451e HGB at €620 per cubic metre; we can arrange higher protection on request. Piano, storage or kitchen assembly are part of the offer – for the way to the mining town as well as for the way from Leoben to Berlin.

Fixed price for Leoben
Toll, Bosruck rate and change of driver included
We give you your fixed price for Leoben after a survey – at your home in Berlin or by video, appointments on 01625978461. It includes lorry tolls in Germany and Austria with the special rate at the Bosruck tunnel, a two-person team or overnight stay and the parking restrictions at both addresses. The way back is calculated in the same way.
Quotes are available individually depending on effort, availability of dates and the scope of services required.

Planning
Berlin ↔ Leoben
Before the move to Leoben we go through the following with you: parking restriction outside the Berlin flat (district office) and a parking space at the address in the Mur valley, dismantling and assembly of kitchen and wardrobes, a piano or heavy workbench, storage in case the new flat has not yet been handed over, and the question of a two-person team or an overnight stay. In Austria you must register your new residence within three days with the registration form (Meldezettel); in Leoben the municipality is responsible. Anyone returning from Leoben to Berlin deregisters and registers in Berlin within two weeks at the registration office (Bürgeramt).

Pyhrn, Bosruck, mining town
Leoben: mining town in the upper Mur valley
With around 24,500 inhabitants, Leoben is the second-largest city in Styria after Graz and the seat of the district administration. The old town centre grew up in a bend of the Mur, about eight kilometres east of St. Michael and 15 kilometres west of Bruck an der Mur; today the town stretches along both banks up to the mountain slopes. Leoben is home to the Montanuniversität (University of Leoben), and in the Donawitz district stands the voestalpine steelworks, which produces rails and wire rod. Household goods from Berlin need no border papers within the EU; what we need to know is access, floor and lift at your new address, whether in the town centre, in Leitendorf or in Judendorf.
For the way from Leoben to Berlin we reverse the procedure: loading in the Mur valley, north via the S6, Pyhrn motorway, Passau and Regensburg, unloading and assembly in Berlin. The price depends on volume, floors, assembly and the roughly 856 km, not on the direction; liability is under the German Commercial Code (HGB).
Route: Hof, Regensburg, Passau, Bosruck, S6
After loading in Berlin we drive south on the A9 and via the short A72 to the Hochfranken interchange. There the A93 begins, 177 km via Weiden to Regensburg; the A3 takes us 137 km to Passau and the border at Suben. On the Austrian side we continue via the Innkreis motorway to the Voralpenkreuz and onto the Pyhrn motorway: through the 5.5 km Bosruck tunnel from Spital am Pyhrn to Ardning, then through the Enns valley past Liezen and over the Schober Pass to St. Michael. We cover the last stretch on the Semmering expressway S6. Altogether around 856 km, approx. 13 hrs with breaks.
On German motorways lorries over 3.5 t drive at a maximum of 80 km/h (§ 18 (5) StVO); after 4.5 hours of driving time a 45-minute break follows. The Bosruck tunnel is a special toll section with its own lorry rate. Because the drive exceeds one day shift, two drivers take turns, or we stay overnight and unload in Leoben on the second day.
Hauptplatz, Göß, Donawitz: arriving in Leoben
The centre of the town is the Hauptplatz, redesigned in 1997 to plans by Boris Podrecca, with the Old Town Hall from 1485 and the Hacklhaus; the Schwammerlturm, a former toll tower, also stands in the town centre. The town is divided into localities such as Leoben (town centre with Mühltal and Pölzgraben), Donawitz, Göß, Hinterberg, Judendorf and Leitendorf, plus the suburbs of Waasen and Lerchenfeld. We need your new address early to check access and a parking space. Leoben is not a statutory city; you register within three days at the municipality – with the Meldezettel signed by your accommodation provider and an ID, or online with ID Austria.
If the way back to Berlin comes up later, you deregister in Leoben from three days before to three days after moving out and register in Berlin within two weeks at the registration office (Bürgeramt), whether in Mitte, Neukölln or Reinickendorf. We apply for the parking restriction at the Berlin address at the district office and schedule the unloading for your handover date.
Price range for the move to Leoben
Whether you are moving to the Mur valley or back to the Spree: you receive a written fixed price that stays the same on the way. For initial orientation:
| Flat size | Volume | Price from |
|---|---|---|
| 1-room flat | 10–15 m³ | from €350 |
| 2-room flat | 20–25 m³ | from €590 |
| 3-room flat | 30–40 m³ | from €890 |
| 4-room flat | 45–60 m³ | from €1,290 |
| House / villa | from 60 m³ | individual quote |
For the roughly 856 km to Leoben we set a guide price from €2,800, in both directions. Tolls including the Bosruck rate and a second driver or overnight stay appear separately. The binding price is the one after the free survey.
These factors determine the price for Leoben
The decisive factor first of all is the volume. For Leoben there are also the roughly 856 kilometres, tolls in two countries with a special rate at the Bosruck and the choice between two drivers and a night on the road. Floor, lift, carrying distances on slopes and extras such as furniture assembly or a parking restriction zone also count. Small loads travel more cheaply as a part load.
