From the Spree to the Oker: your move to Braunschweig

A2, then A39

Unsere Firma A period flat in the Ringgebiet, a room near the TU or a house on the edge of town: we plan vehicle and team around your address.

A move from Berlin to Braunschweig leads from our base at Stromstraße 21 (Moabit) via the A100, AVUS and Berlin ring road to the Werder interchange and then on the A2 past Magdeburg and Helmstedt. At the Wolfsburg/Königslutter interchange we turn south-west onto the A39 – the link from the interchange to Braunschweig has only been continuously open since 2009 – and leave it after 13 km at the Braunschweig-Rautheim junction. That is around 231 km, approx. 3 hrs of driving with the removal lorry. We drive the move from Braunschweig to Berlin in exactly the same way in the opposite direction.

At Beste Umzug Unternehmen we first look at your belongings – at your home or on a video call – and then put the fixed price in writing. Liability follows § 451e HGB (€620 per cubic metre of loading space); for valuables there is optional additional insurance on request. There are many period buildings in the Östliches and Westliches Ringgebiet, so we apply for the loading zone in Braunschweig as early as in Berlin. Furniture assembly, packing and storage space are added as needed. Survey: 01625978461.

MAXIMUM CARE

What the route to Braunschweig demands

One team from Moabit for both directions

We come from Berlin (Stromstraße 21) and drive right to your door in Braunschweig. With around 253,000 inhabitants, the city is the second largest in Lower Saxony; the city centre lies within the Oker moat, and around the old town follow late-19th-century and pre-war quarters such as the Östliches Ringgebiet. There we check the stairwell, rear courtyard and parking space beforehand. At approx. 3 hrs of lorry time, the route stays below the 4.5-hour driving time limit, and loading and unloading usually fit into one day. At the end there is a fixed price and liability under the HGB.

Packing service

Our packing service brings crates and blankets to Berlin, packs there and unpacks again at the Wallring – if you like, only the kitchen and bookshelf.

Office move

Laboratory, institute or law firm: we plan the office move to Braunschweig with seat numbers and a fixed time window.

Senior move

A senior move to the Oker needs calm: the same team sorts things out in Berlin and hangs the pictures back up in Braunschweig.

Furniture transport

A concert grand or a Biedermeier display cabinet gets its own securing; the furniture transport ends at its spot in Braunschweig, not at the front door.
MOVING WITH CLEAR COMMITMENTS

What matters between Berlin and Braunschweig

The drive to the Oker is short enough for one day, but the city centre behind the Wallring is tight. That is why we start before rush hour, secure loading zones at both buildings and keep the team there until the last piece of furniture.

Part load Berlin ↔ Braunschweig

Affordable in both directions
Anyone who only wants to bring a few items to Braunschweig does not need their own lorry. With a part load, a wardrobe, boxes or a washing machine occupy part of the loading space on a tour via the A10, A2 and A39 – likewise in the opposite direction from the Oker to the Spree. The collection day depends on when such a tour runs; how much flexibility you should allow for this, we discuss right away when you enquire, so that collection and arrival remain reliable.

TU, PTB, Volkswagen: reasons for moving to the Oker

Braunschweig is a city of research: the TU Braunschweig was founded in 1745 as the Collegium Carolinum and is regarded as Germany's oldest technical and scientific university, plus there is the University of Art (Hochschule für Bildende Künste), the National Metrology Institute (Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt) with its atomic clocks and the DLR at Braunschweig-Wolfsburg Airport. Volkswagen has a plant here and the headquarters of Volkswagen Financial Services. A move from Berlin to Braunschweig therefore often has to do with studies, a doctorate or a job in research and industry – from a shared-flat room to a family flat.

The move from Braunschweig to Berlin often follows starting a career after graduating or a job in the capital. We plan it with the same procedure: survey in Braunschweig, fixed price, one team to the new door in Berlin.

Via the A2 and A39 to Rautheim: route and procedure

From Moabit to Braunschweig it is around 231 kilometres. The lorry takes the A100 and A115 to the Berlin ring road (A10), from the Werder interchange the A2 past the Magdeburg interchange to the Wolfsburg/Königslutter interchange and there onto the A39, which leads south of Cremlingen to the Braunschweig-Rautheim junction. Since lorries over 3.5 t drive at a maximum of 80 km/h on the motorway (§ 18 (5) StVO), we reckon with approx. 3 hrs of driving. A mandatory break under EU Regulation 561/2006 is only due after 4.5 hours of driving time; in case of jams we plan it in anyway.

The procedure has three parts: loading in Berlin or Braunschweig, the drive and unloading including furniture assembly at the destination. Before departure we secure everything in the loading space and record its condition. We are liable for damage under § 451e HGB; additional protection is possible on request.

Arriving in Braunschweig: Ringgebiet, city centre, outskirts

Since 2021 Braunschweig has been divided into 12 districts. The city centre with the cathedral, Burgplatz and Magniviertel lies within the Oker moats; around the old town, late-19th-century and pre-war buildings shape quarters such as the Östliches Ringgebiet with the Prinz-Albrecht-Park, plus the Weststadt and old village centres such as Volkmarode on the outskirts. In period buildings we check the stairwell and access beforehand, because not every street has room for a large lorry.

A move back to Berlin often leads to districts with scarce parking such as Prenzlauer Berg or Pankow. There we apply for the parking restriction zone at the district office so that the lorry can stand right outside the building on moving day.

What determines the price for the route to the Oker

The most important item is the volume in cubic metres. Then comes the route of 231 km (from €4/km) and everything that creates work at the addresses: floor, a missing lift, a narrow rear courtyard, a parking restriction zone or furniture assembly. For small quantities a part load is the cheaper choice.
