Moving from Berlin to Gelsenkirchen: 519 km ending on the Emscherschnellweg

Removal company Berlin
Your move Berlin – Gelsenkirchen, north or south of the Emscher
Via the A42 to the destination
A move from Berlin to Gelsenkirchen covers around 519 kilometres, almost all of it on the A2 – past Magdeburg, Hanover and Bielefeld to Dortmund. There the lorry switches to the A42, the Emscherschnellweg, which serves Gelsenkirchen with its own exits. We start at Stromstraße 21 in Berlin-Moabit. One fixed contact person coordinates everything from packing in Berlin to unloading in Gelsenkirchen; the fixed price is set after the survey, and we are liable for your goods under the HGB.
We handle the return move from Gelsenkirchen to Berlin in the same way – whether from Buer, Horst or the town centre. We look at access, floor and parking space at your Gelsenkirchen flat in advance, by video or in person by arrangement. You can add furniture assembly, packing and the disposal of old furnishings as needed, so that the route between the Ruhr and the capital stays plannable in both directions.

From the Spree to the solar city – and back
We load in Berlin – in a period building with a back courtyard as well as in a new build with a lift – and drive ourselves right to your Gelsenkirchen door, whether in Buer, Erle, Ückendorf or Schalke. Because the city has two centres, the core town south and Buer north of the Emscher and the Rhine–Herne Canal, we choose the A42 exit according to your address. Liability is under the HGB, and optional additional insurance is available for more protection; the fixed price applies in both directions.

Move
planning Berlin ↔ Gelsenkirchen
A move over around 519 kilometres raises questions: how many boxes, who dismantles the kitchen, when do we apply for the parking restriction in Berlin and in Gelsenkirchen? On request we take over the complete moving service with kitchen assembly and final cleaning of the old flat. For a piano, storage or part-load transport for small households there are separate solutions. In Gelsenkirchen it is worth looking at the map: Buer lies north, the core town south of the Emscher and the Rhine–Herne Canal.

Who moves from Berlin to Gelsenkirchen – and who moves back
Behind a move from Berlin to Gelsenkirchen there are usually professional or family reasons: a new job in the Ruhr, studies in the region or relatives who already live in Buer, Horst or Schalke. Across Germany, Gelsenkirchen is known above all as the home of FC Schalke 04 and used to be called the “City of 1000 Fires” because of the flares of its coking plants. Our team handles the complete transport from the Berlin flat to the new home in Gelsenkirchen, including furniture assembly and packing.
The return move from Gelsenkirchen to Berlin often follows a new job in the capital, the end of a training course or a return to family. For this direction we prepare a separate quote with a fixed price after a survey; liability under the HGB is the same, supplemented on request by optional additional insurance.
The route: A2 to Dortmund, then the Emscherschnellweg A42
After loading at your Berlin address, the lorry drives via the A100, A115 and the Berlin ring road to the Werder interchange and then on the A2 into the Ruhr. At the Dortmund-Nordwest interchange we leave the A2 and, after a short connecting section, take the A42, the Emscherschnellweg, at the Castrop-Rauxel-Ost interchange, past Herne to Gelsenkirchen – exits Bismarck, Schalke, Zentrum, Heßler. In total it is around 519 kilometres, approx. 7.5 hrs lorry driving time with the mandatory break.
After four and a half hours of driving time a 45-minute break is mandatory (EU Regulation 561/2006), and lorries over 3.5 t may drive at no more than 80 km/h on the motorway (§ 18 (5) StVO). Whether loading, driving and unloading take place on one day with two drivers or are spread over two days, we set in the fixed price at the survey.
Getting to know Gelsenkirchen – and returning to Berlin
Gelsenkirchen is divided into five boroughs, from Mitte to West. The city has two cores: Buer in the north was a separate town until 1928 and was then merged with Gelsenkirchen and the Amt Horst to form the town of “Gelsenkirchen-Buer”; the core town lies south of the Emscher and the Rhine–Herne Canal. Where the Federal Garden Show took place in 1997, on the site of the Nordstern colliery, there is now a landscape park. We come from Berlin and drive right to the door in every district; we clarify parking space and access beforehand.
For the return move to Berlin you should start the flat search early; the Berlin rent index (Mietspiegel) provides current figures. If the new Berlin flat is not yet ready to move into on the moving date, we store your furniture in the meantime. Berlin period buildings with back courtyards and narrow stairwells are our everyday work.
