Moving from Berlin to Münster: via Osnabrück to the cycling city

Removal company Berlin
From Moabit to the Prinzipalmarkt: moving to Münster
All the way to the Münsterland
On a move from Berlin to Münster our lorry leaves Stromstraße 21 in Moabit and first joins the A2 – past Magdeburg and Hanover to the Bad Oeynhausen interchange. There it switches to the A30 towards Osnabrück and at the Lotte/Osnabrück interchange onto the A1, which it follows south for around 40 km. Altogether that is around 474 km. You receive the fixed price in writing after the survey; as a guide price we quote from €1,910. Whether a single apartment, a family household or an office – the same process applies to the move from Münster to Berlin.
For the three motorways the lorry needs a good six hours of pure driving. The 80 km/h limit for vehicles over 3.5 t and the mandatory 45-minute break after four and a half hours (EU Regulation 561/2006) add up to approx. 7 hrs. When unloading takes place in Münster – on the evening of the loading day or the following morning – depends on the volume and is fixed at the survey. We take care of furniture assembly, packing and the parking restriction zones (Halteverbotszonen) in both cities; if the new flat is not yet free, we put your things into storage. Liability is under § 451e HGB.

Move
planning Berlin ↔ Münster
On a move over 474 kilometres many questions come into play: what packing do the household goods need for three motorways? Does a large lorry fit into your street, or is a parking restriction zone needed? By when do you register in Münster? Who dismantles and reassembles the furniture? And what happens if the new flat in Münster or Berlin is not yet free – is storage needed or is a part load enough? We clarify all of this with you before moving day – so that the process from Berlin to Münster and from Münster to Berlin is settled.

Osnabrück route, old town, the way back
University, administration, bicycles: why people move to Münster
Many make the move from Berlin to Münster for a university place: the University of Münster – until October 2023 the Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität – has around 41,000 students, and its administration is based in the former prince-bishop's palace. Others follow a job in the city, which is the seat of the administrative district of the same name. And many appreciate that Münster is regarded as a cycling city: the roughly 4.5 km Promenade on the former fortification ring around the old town is closed to cars, and its central strip belongs to cyclists. We organise the move with parking restriction zones in both cities and secure transport over the whole route.
The return move from Münster to Berlin often has professional reasons – a larger job market, the next career step, the capital's cultural offering. Family or the wish for neighbourhoods such as Prenzlauer Berg or Friedrichshain also play a part. We plan the way back as carefully as the way there: survey, fixed price and a date after your key handover.
The route to Münster: A2, A30 and A1 with a break
For the Berlin Münster move we plan around 474 kilometres. Via the AVUS and the Berlin ring road the lorry heads to the Werder interchange and onto the A2, past Magdeburg and Hanover and across the Weser to the Bad Oeynhausen interchange. That is where the A30 begins, which since December 2018 has run north around Bad Oeynhausen, past Löhne, Bünde and Melle and south around Osnabrück. At the Lotte/Osnabrück interchange we switch to the A1 and drive past Lengerich, Ladbergen, Münster/Osnabrück Airport and Greven to Münster. Going via the Kamen interchange would be a detour.
After four and a half hours of driving time a 45-minute break is mandatory; with it we reckon on approx. 7 hrs by lorry. In Berlin we secure furniture and boxes in the vehicle, in Münster we unload and assemble the furniture on request. On the return move from Münster to Berlin we take the same route in the opposite direction via the A1, A30 and A2.
Arriving in Münster – six city districts, one old town
Münster is divided into six city districts: Mitte, Nord, Ost, West, Süd-Ost and Hiltrup. At its centre lies the Prinzipalmarkt with its gabled houses, rebuilt in simplified form after the Second World War; the Historic Town Hall is the site of the Peace of Westphalia of 1648. The city centre includes the Kreuzviertel, a historic neighbourhood; to the south-west lies the Aasee, dammed in the 1930s, with the Allwetterzoo on its shore. In the densely built city centre we clarify in advance where the lorry may stop.
On the return move to Berlin a larger, more varied housing market awaits you, with districts such as Charlottenburg, Kreuzberg or Prenzlauer Berg – and considerably more competition at viewings. Those who search early find a flat more easily. We deliver your household goods to the new Berlin address and apply for the parking restriction zone at the district office.
Guide prices for the trip to the Münsterland
In the cycling city people count Leezen (bikes), we count cubic metres. The guide prices apply to Berlin → Münster and equally to Münster → Berlin, with no hidden surcharges:
| Living situation | Volume approx. | Guide price |
|---|---|---|
| Shared-flat room or 1 room | 10 to 15 m³ | from €350 |
| 2 rooms | 20 to 25 m³ | from €590 |
| 3 rooms | 30 to 40 m³ | from €890 |
| 4 rooms | 45 to 60 m³ | from €1,290 |
| whole house | more than 60 m³ | calculated individually |
For the route of around 474 km via the A2, A30 and A1 we set a guide price from €1,910. It becomes binding after the free survey, whether you are moving to the Kreuzviertel, Hiltrup or Gievenbeck.
Three motorways, one old town: what determines the price to Münster
First comes the quantity: how many cubic metres are coming along? Then the route of around 474 km, calculated from €4/km. In the old town, where the Promenade is closed to cars, longer carrying distances or a parking restriction zone may be needed; on top of that come the floor, lift and wishes such as furniture assembly. If you take little with you, you save with a part load.
Services for the move between the Spree and the Aa
For the trip to Münster and back you can book individually or in combination:
- Private move – from a shared-flat room to a family household
- Company move – practice, law firm or office with numbered workstations
- Furniture transport – piano, cargo bike or antique
- Part load – shared cargo space via Osnabrück
- Move with assembly – beds, wardrobes and kitchen dismantled and reassembled
- Clearance – cellar and attic cleared before moving out
