Stralsund on the Strelasund: 271 km to the Rügen Bridge

Removal company Berlin
Your move to Stralsund – on the Strelasund and the town ponds
All the way to the Strelasund
Between our base at Stromstraße 21 in Moabit and Stralsund lie around 271 kilometres: via the A114 and the Berlin ring road to the A11, onto the A20 at the Uckermark interchange, across the Peenetal Bridge to the Stralsund exit and the last stretch on the B96. With the removal lorry that is approx. 3.5 hrs of driving. Beste Umzug Unternehmen plans loading, driving and unloading as one process – we give you the fixed price after the survey.
Stralsund's old town sits almost like an island between the Strelasund and the Knieper, Franken and Moor ponds; through roads and parking spaces are scarce there. That is why we check the lane, entrance and stairwell before the date and arrange the loading zone with the district office (Bezirksamt) in Berlin. We are liable for damage under the German Commercial Code (§ 451e HGB: €620 per cubic metre of loading space); for valuables, higher cover can be agreed. One fixed contact person accompanies the move between the Spree and the Sund – whichever direction you are going.

Stralsund in one moving day: how we plan it
Your removal team between the Spree and the Strelasund
Beste Umzug Unternehmen sets off from Berlin-Moabit and drives right up to your new door on the Sund – whether a gabled house in the old town near Ossenreyerstraße, a flat in Knieper West or in Grünhufe. The route is long but predictable: around 271 km, all motorway apart from the last stretch of the B96, approx. 3.5 hrs by lorry and therefore just under the 4.5 hours of driving time after which a break is mandatory. Whether your move fits into one day depends mainly on volume and carrying distances; we clarify that during the survey – together with the fixed price and liability under the HGB.

Move
planning Berlin ↔ Stralsund
Besides the normal flat move, between Berlin and Stralsund we also transport pianos, pictures and delicate electronics, as well as offices, senior households and students at the university. On request we pack, assemble furniture and provide interim storage if the new flat is still occupied. Registration should be done within two weeks of moving in (§ 17 Federal Registration Act, Bundesmeldegesetz) – on the Sund at the Hanseatic city's registration authority, in Berlin at the registration office (Bürgeramt).

Stralsund and Berlin: there and back
Why Stralsund – and why some move back to Berlin
A move from Berlin to Stralsund has many reasons: a job in the Hanseatic city, studying at Stralsund University of Applied Sciences, which has existed since 1991, or the wish to live by the water – the old town lies almost entirely between the Strelasund, Knieperteich, Frankenteich and Moorteich. Via the Rügendamm causeway and the Rügen Bridge, the island of Rügen is right on the doorstep. People going into retirement also like to move to the Baltic coast. We handle the complete outward move, from packing in Berlin to assembly in Stralsund, including parking restriction zones (Halteverbotszonen) at both addresses.
Conversely, many are drawn back to the Spree after graduating or for their first big job. For a move from Stralsund to Berlin we look at the household goods on the Sund, give you the fixed price and send a team all the way to the new Berlin flat – we apply to the district office for the loading zone outside the building in Mitte, Pankow or Charlottenburg.
271 km via the A11, A20 and B96: route and driving time
From Stromstraße 21 it is around 271 kilometres to Stralsund. The lorry takes the A114 and a short stretch of the Berlin ring road to the Barnim junction, heads north on the A11 through the Schorfheide, switches to the A20 at the Uckermark interchange and crosses the Peenetal Bridge to the Stralsund exit; from there the B96 leads into the town and on towards Rügen. Removal lorries over 3.5 t may drive at a maximum of 80 km/h on the motorway (§ 18 (5) StVO), so we reckon with approx. 3.5 hrs of lorry driving. That is below the 4.5 hours after which EU Regulation 561/2006 requires a 45-minute break – in case of traffic jams we plan it in anyway.
In summer the B96 is the main route for holidaymakers heading to Rügen; we therefore try not to schedule arrival on holiday weekends. At the destination an inventory list is checked first, then everything is unloaded and assembled on request. We build in a buffer for the old town; whether everything fits into one day is clear after the survey.
World Heritage, Knieper, Grünhufe: arriving in Stralsund
Anyone moving to Stralsund chooses between very different locations: the old town, which together with Wismar has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2002, the residential areas of Knieper West and Knieper-Nord, Franken Mitte, Grünhufe or Vogelsang. In the old town with its listed buildings we check the stairwell and access particularly carefully; the Ozeaneum of the German Oceanographic Museum stands at the harbour. We schedule the moving date around your key handover, with storage in between if necessary.
Knieper and Grünhufe were built as prefabricated housing estates in GDR times – there we clarify the floor, lift and the path from the lorry to the front door in advance. If you are moving back to Berlin, the bottleneck is usually the parking space outside the new building; we apply to the district office for the loading zone in good time and schedule the day around the start of your tenancy.
Guide prices for the move to the Sund
What the move to the Strelasund costs depends mainly on the amount of furniture and boxes – whether you are moving there or back. For a rough idea:
| Home | Cubic metres | Price from |
|---|---|---|
| One-room flat | 10–15 m³ | from €350 |
| two rooms with kitchen | 20–25 m³ | from €590 |
| three rooms, family | 30–40 m³ | from €890 |
| four rooms or more | 45–60 m³ | from €1,290 |
| whole house | from 60 m³ | after a survey |
For the roughly 271 km from Moabit to the Sund, the guide price starts from €960, in both directions. The amount becomes binding after a free survey.
Volume, old-town lane, floor: what shapes the price
First comes the volume, then the distance of around 271 km via the A11 and A20. After that come the floor and lift – in the narrow gabled houses of the old town the way up is often steep – as well as furniture assembly and the loading zone. For just a few items, a part load reduces the costs.
