Moving Berlin – Wiener Neustadt: 736 km to the Steinfeld and back

Removal company Berlin
Beyond Vienna: moving Berlin ↔ Wiener Neustadt
Finally via the A2
Wiener Neustadt lies south of Vienna in the Steinfeld – at around 736 kilometres it is one of our longer routes to Austria. We start at Stromstraße 21 in Moabit; we have no office in Lower Austria. After the survey you receive a fixed price, with a guide price from 2,690 euros; it covers packing, transport, tolls, parking restriction and, on request, final cleaning. Because the drive takes longer than one driver is allowed to drive in a day, we decide in advance whether two drivers take turns or we stay overnight on the way.
Liability is under the HGB (§ 451e: €620 per cubic metre of cargo space); if you are taking valuables, you can arrange more cover through us. Our removal workers dismantle and reassemble kitchens, handle furniture assembly and also transport pianos or art. We apply for the parking restriction zone in Berlin with the district office and in Wiener Neustadt with the office responsible there – whether you are moving there or back to the Spree.

FAQ on long-distance moves in both directions
To Wiener Neustadt and back: into the Steinfeld south of Vienna
With a good 50,000 inhabitants, Wiener Neustadt is the second-largest city in Lower Austria after St. Pölten and the main town of the Industrieviertel; it lies south of Vienna in the Steinfeld, and to the east the Leitha forms the border with Burgenland. The old town, founded between 1192 and 1194, still has an almost rectangular layout modelled on a Roman camp, and its main axes are now pedestrian zones. The Theresian Military Academy has been teaching in the former castle since 1752, and Austria's first university of applied sciences (Fachhochschule) was founded here in 1994. Anyone moving from Berlin to Wiener Neustadt stays within the EU single market – for us, what counts is access, stopping place, floor and lift, which we clarify at the survey.
We organise the return move from Wiener Neustadt to Berlin on the same pattern: survey by video or in your flat, a written fixed price, parking restriction at both buildings, loading in the Steinfeld, the drive with two drivers or an overnight stay, and assembly in Berlin. The direction changes nothing about the price.
The route: around 736 km via Prague, Brno, Vienna and the A2
We leave Berlin via the A100 and A113; the A13 takes the lorry to Dresden after around 151 km, and a short stretch of the A4 and the A17 (44 km) lead to the Czech border. Then follow the D8 to Prague and the D1 via Jihlava to Brno; on road 52 we continue via Mikulov to the Drasenhofen border crossing. In Austria the A5 (5 km), B7, S1 and S2 lead to the south-east bypass A23 (15 km), and from there the Süd Autobahn A2 (42 km) takes the lorry into the Steinfeld – altogether around 736 km and approx. 11.5 hrs of lorry driving time including breaks.
As a rule, EU Regulation 561/2006 allows a driver nine hours of driving time a day, after every 4.5 hours a 45-minute break is mandatory, and in Germany lorries over 3.5 t are limited to 80 km/h (§ 18 (5) StVO). For Wiener Neustadt one driver in one day is therefore not enough: either two drivers take turns, or we stay overnight on the way and unload the following day. Which suits better, we decide at the survey; the return move to Berlin runs in reverse order.
Arriving in Wiener Neustadt: Meldezettel and city districts
You register your new residence in Wiener Neustadt no later than three days after moving in. For this you need the Meldezettel signed by your accommodation provider and a travel document; if you use ID Austria or EU Login, you can also do it online via oesterreich.gv.at. Since 2007 the city has been divided into eight districts: Innere Stadt, Ungarviertel, Gymelsdorfer Vorstadt, Zehnerviertel, Flugfeld, Josefstadt, Civitas Nova and Heideansiedlung. In the north an airfield was created in 1909, and in 1911 the first Austrian aviation week took place there; the Civitas Nova is now home to a campus of the university of applied sciences and the Arena Nova. How the lorry gets to your building, we check before the date.
If you are going back to Berlin, you deregister in Wiener Neustadt in the three days before or after moving out and register in Berlin at the registration office (Bürgeramt) within two weeks. We apply to the district office for the parking restriction outside the new flat – for example in Schöneberg, Moabit or Weißensee – and schedule the unloading for the day of the key handover.
What the move to the Steinfeld costs (guide prices)

What affects the price of the Berlin–Wiener Neustadt move
The deciding factor is the volume, because it determines the vehicle and staff. For Wiener Neustadt the distance of around 736 km, the Czech and Austrian tolls and the decision between a two-person crew and an overnight stay also carry weight. Then there are the floor, lift and services such as furniture assembly or a parking restriction zone. Small quantities become cheaper with a part load.

For the way to the Steinfeld and back we offer:
- Private move – from a student room to a family flat
