From the Spree to the Moselle: moving to Trier
All the way to the Moselle
Around 718 km separate Moabit from the Moselle. On a move from Berlin to Trier our furniture packers handle dismantling, sturdy packing and transport; we agree the process after a free survey, which takes place in your flat or by video. Over nine hours of pure driving time is too much for one driver, so the quote already states whether we drive as a pair or plan an overnight stop. The fixed price comes in writing, whether you are going from the Spree to the Moselle or the other way round.
On request we dismantle and reassemble kitchen and furniture, connect lamps and take care of the final cleaning of the old flat in Berlin or Trier. We secure pianos, art and antiques with blankets, straps and suitable carrying equipment; we are liable for damage under the HGB, and optional additional insurance is possible. We plan the route from Berlin to Trier and the return move from Trier to Berlin the same way – including parking restrictions at both addresses, even in the narrow streets of the town centre. That way your move becomes predictable, whichever direction it goes.

Why Trier needs more planning
One team from Moabit – there and back
We come from Berlin-Moabit and bring your Berlin–Trier move right to the front door on the Moselle. You find out the fixed price after the survey, with no surcharges at the destination. Over the roughly 718 kilometres we are liable under the HGB. Because part of the route runs as a federal road along the Lahn, followed by the Eifel, two drivers drive or we split the tour over two days – that is stated in the quote beforehand. In this city, more than 2,000 years old, one thing matters most to us: where the lorry is allowed to stand outside your building.

The Moselle and Berlin: briefly explained
Why Berliners move to Trier – and back again
A move from Berlin to Trier often has to do with location: the border with Luxembourg at Wasserbillig is not far, and together with Luxembourg, Metz and Saarbrücken the city forms the QuattroPole city network. Many come for a job in the Greater Region, others to study at Trier University or Trier University of Applied Sciences. Trier has around 105,000 inhabitants and is the fourth-largest city in Rhineland-Palatinate. We organise the move, whether you are moving out of a Berlin period building or a new build.
The return move from Trier to Berlin often follows graduation, a new job in the capital or the wish to live closer to family and friends. Berlin's large job market in IT, start-ups and the creative industries also plays a role. We plan this return move with the same survey, the same fixed-price model and the same driver planning as the outward journey.
The route to Trier: Lahn, Westerwald, Eifel, Moselle
It is around 718 kilometres to Trier, and they run differently from the route to Saarbrücken. From the Berlin ring road the lorry takes the A9 to Hermsdorf, the A4 westwards and the A5 to the Reiskirchen junction. It then bypasses Gießen to the north on the A480 and switches to the B 49, which as a federal road along the Lahn leads via Wetzlar and Weilburg to Limburg. From there it goes on the A3 to Dernbach, on the A48 over the Bendorf Rhine Bridge and the Koblenz interchange right across the Eifel to the Vulkaneifel junction; the A1 and A602 finally bring it into the Moselle valley.
Lorries over 3.5 t are not allowed to exceed 80 km/h, which results in a pure driving time of over nine hours – above the daily limit of EU Regulation 561/2006. We plan approx. 11 hrs with breaks and two drivers or an overnight stop. In Trier we unload as soon as the parking restriction is in place, and assemble on request. The same applies from Trier to Berlin.
Arriving in Trier or Berlin: districts and the flat search
Trier lies in a widening of the Moselle valley and is divided into 19 local districts. Besides the town centre and core districts, the city includes incorporated places such as Ehrang-Pfalzel, Zewen, Euren, Olewig, Kürenz, Tarforst or Ruwer. The Roman buildings – Porta Nigra, amphitheatre, Imperial Baths, Barbara Baths, Basilica of Constantine and Roman Bridge – have been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1986, as have the cathedral and the Church of Our Lady. Housing is in demand: because of the proximity to Luxembourg, rents in Trier rose more sharply between 2005 and 2010 than anywhere else in Germany, according to a BBSR survey. So start your search early.
Between the Moselle and the heights above the city there are up to 300 metres: the Hauptmarkt is at 137 m, while the heights near Irsch reach 427 m. For hillside locations in Tarforst or on the Petrisberg we plan carrying distances and vehicle size in advance. Anyone moving back to Berlin later should also start searching early there; we apply for the parking restriction at the new address at the district office.
What the move to the Roman city costs
Whether a student room in Tarforst or a family flat in Ehrang: on a move from Berlin to Trier and back from Trier to Berlin, the price depends first on the quantity. This is how you can make a rough calculation:
| Flat | Cubic metres | Price from |
|---|---|---|
| Room or apartment | 10–15 m³ | from €350 |
| Two-room flat | 20–25 m³ | from €590 |
| Three-room flat | 30–40 m³ | from €890 |
| Four-room flat | 45–60 m³ | from €1,290 |
| House | from 60 m³ | after a survey |
For the route via the A9, A4, A5, B 49, A3, A48 and A1 – around 718 km – a guide price from €2,700 applies there and back. You receive the binding quote after a free survey.
Quantity, floor, distance: your price for Trier
The volume counts most, because it determines the vehicle and team size. For the long-distance move Berlin–Trier there are also the roughly 718 km, as well as the choice between two drivers and two days. After that come floor, lift, carrying distances on slopes and extras such as furniture assembly or a parking restriction zone. Small quantities travel more cheaply with a part load.

Survey and fixed price for Trier
For a binding price we need two things: a look at your belongings and your preferred date.
