Berlin–Innsbruck: 751 km the last 75 on the Inntal motorway

Removal company Berlin
Through the Inn valley by day: moving Berlin ↔ Innsbruck
To the foot of the Nordkette
From Moabit, the route to Innsbruck is a clear line: the A9 almost 520 km to Munich, the A99 ring road around the city, the A8 to the Inntaldreieck near Rosenheim and the A93 to the border at Kiefersfelden. Then comes Tyrol: around 75 km on the Inntal motorway A12, past Kufstein, Wörgl and Schwaz, until the Tyrolean capital appears between the Nordkette and the Patscherkofel. We come from Berlin (Stromstraße 21); we have no branch in Tyrol. During the survey – in person in Berlin or by video – we record volume, furniture and special items and clarify where the lorry can stand at your new address. From this comes the written fixed price; you can add packing service, assembly and storage in Berlin on request.
Around 11.5 h with breaks – that puts Innsbruck above the daily driving time that EU Regulation 561/2006 allows one driver. We therefore plan a two-person team or an overnight stay and schedule the stage through the Inn valley during the day: in Austria a night-time driving ban applies to lorries over 7.5 t between 10 pm and 5 am (with exceptions for low-noise vehicles), and on parts of the A12 it starts earlier. In addition there is a 100 km/h limit on some sections under the Air Pollution Control Act (IG-L) and the lorry checkpoints near Kundl and Radfeld. Liability is under the HGB (§ 451e: €620 per cubic metre); more cover is possible. We plan the move from Innsbruck to Berlin according to the same rules.

For a move from Berlin to Innsbruck we first give you a guide price from €2,880, then the binding fixed price after the survey. It lists volume, assembly, the toll on the A12 and the two-person team or overnight stay separately. One crew from the Spree to the Inn
Loading in Moabit, unloading in the state capital
Of the 751 kilometres to Innsbruck, the lorry drives the last 75 on the Inntal motorway. The border at Kiefersfelden is an internal EU border; your household goods are neither declared nor checked there. What matters: driving and rest times, the night-time driving ban in Tyrol, the toll and a stopping place in front of both buildings. The crew that loads at Stromstraße 21 also sets up the furniture in Innsbruck. You receive the fixed price in writing after the survey; liability is under the HGB. The same applies to the way from Innsbruck back to Berlin.

Schedule
Berlin ↔ Innsbruck
Before the move to Innsbruck we go through with you: parking restriction in Berlin (district office) and at the new address with the Stadtmagistrat, dismantling of kitchen and wardrobes, piano or sensitive technology, storage in Berlin if the handover is later, a two-person team or overnight stay before the border and your registration obligation. In Austria: register within three days of moving in with the registration form (Meldezettel) – as a main residence or, for example during studies, as a secondary residence. Anyone moving back from Innsbruck to Berlin deregisters in Tyrol and has two weeks in Berlin for the Bürgeramt.

Tyrol, route, deadlines, return journey
Innsbruck: Tyrol's capital between the Nordkette and the Patscherkofel
With a good 132,000 inhabitants, Innsbruck is the fifth-largest city in Austria and the capital of Tyrol; it has twice been an Olympic city. It lies at 574 m in the Inn valley, where the Sill flows in and the Wipptal branches off towards the Brenner; to the north rises the Nordkette, to the south the Patscherkofel. With the university and the Medical University, Innsbruck is also a student city. With a move from Berlin to Innsbruck, your household goods stay within the EU single market and need no papers at all at the border; what matters instead is the three-day registration deadline. For planning, your address counts above all: can the lorry stop in front of the building, how steep is the access, how many floors are there? We clarify this during the survey before the fixed price is set.
We drive the move from Innsbruck to Berlin in just the same way, only in reverse: loading on the Inn, back via Kufstein, Rosenheim and Munich, unloading in Berlin. For the price, volume, floors, assembly and the 751 kilometres count, not the direction. We apply for parking restrictions at both addresses, and liability in both directions is under the HGB.
Schedule: the A9 to Munich, then the A8, A93 and 75 km on the A12
In Berlin we usually load in the early morning. Via the A100, the AVUS (A115) and the A10 we reach the A9 and drive via Leipzig and Nuremberg to Munich. There we go around the city on the A99 (27 km), follow the A8 (44 km) to the Inntaldreieck and the A93 (25 km) to the border at Kiefersfelden. The Inntal motorway A12 then runs around 75 km along the Inn via Kufstein, Wörgl and Schwaz to Innsbruck; near Innsbruck the A13 branches off to the Brenner. In total that is about 751 km and 11.5 h with breaks.
On German motorways lorries over 3.5 t drive at a maximum of 80 km/h (§ 18 (5) StVO); after 4.5 hours at the wheel a 45-minute break follows. In Austria the A12 is subject to a toll for lorries, and there are checkpoints for heavy goods traffic near Kundl and Radfeld. Because the route exceeds the daily driving time, two drivers take turns or we stay overnight before the border and drive through the Inn valley in the morning. For the move from Innsbruck to Berlin the same planning applies in reverse order.
Nine cadastral municipalities, many hillside locations: arriving in Innsbruck
Innsbruck is divided into nine cadastral municipalities – Innsbruck with the old town around the Golden Roof, Wilten, Pradl, Hötting, Mühlau, Arzl, Amras, Igls and Vill – and into 20 statistical districts such as Saggen, Reichenau, Höttinger Au or the Hungerburg. In the old town and on the slope of Hötting, access is narrow or steep; there we plan a smaller lorry or longer carrying routes. Within three days of moving in, you register at the registration office of the Stadtmagistrat with the Meldezettel signed by your accommodation provider and an ID; online it works with ID Austria. We need your address early to check access and stopping space.
Anyone moving back to Berlin deregisters in Innsbruck between three days before and three days after moving out, and registers in Berlin at the Bürgeramt within two weeks – whether the new flat is in Prenzlauer Berg, Charlottenburg or Spandau. For unloading we submit the parking restriction application to the district office and set the date to match your handover so that nobody has to wait.
Innsbruck: guide values and fixed price
For the route from Berlin to Innsbruck as well as from Innsbruck to Berlin we agree fixed prices that do not change after the contract is concluded. For a first orientation:
| Flat size | Volume | Price from |
|---|---|---|
| 1-room flat | 10–15 m³ | from €350 |
| 2-room flat | 20–25 m³ | from €590 |
| 3-room flat | 30–40 m³ | from €890 |
| 4-room flat | 45–60 m³ | from €1,290 |
| House / villa | from 60 m³ | individual quote |
For the Tyrol route of around 751 km the guide price is from €2,880, outward and back. Toll, a two-person team or overnight stay appear separately in the quote. The price is binding after the free survey.
Which points determine the price for Berlin–Innsbruck
The greatest influence is the volume. For Berlin–Innsbruck the distance of around 751 km, the lorry toll on the A12 and the choice between a two-person team and an overnight stay are added. After that, floor, lift and extras such as furniture assembly or a parking restriction zone in front of the building in Hötting or Wilten count. With few belongings a part load is worthwhile.
