Greifswald on the Ryck: 236 km via the Schorfheide and the Peene Valley

Removal company Berlin
From Moabit to the Ryck: your move to Greifswald
All the way to the Bodden
With us, a move from Berlin to Greifswald begins in Moabit, Stromstraße 21. In Pankow the lorry takes the A114, switches briefly onto the Berlin Ring at the Pankow junction and onto the A11 at the Barnim junction, which leads north through the Schorfheide-Chorin Biosphere Reserve. At the Uckermark interchange it takes the A20, crosses the Peene Valley Bridge and leaves at the Gützkow exit; we drive the last kilometres to Greifswald on country roads. Altogether that is around 236 km, approx. 3 hrs driving time by removal lorry.
We put the fixed price in writing once we have seen your household goods – at your home or on a video call – and it applies even if traffic stalls in the Schorfheide. For damage we are liable under the German Commercial Code (§ 451e HGB: €620 per cubic metre of loading space); higher protection can be agreed for paintings or measuring instruments. The team starts in Berlin and unloads in Greifswald itself, applies for the loading zones at both buildings, dismantles and assembles furniture and provides storage if the new tenancy only starts later.

Why Greifswald fits into one moving day
Via the A11 and A20 to Western Pomerania – and back to the Spree
The lorry drives from Moabit right up to your new front door on the Ryck – to a Gründerzeit building in the Fleischervorstadt, one of the prefabricated-block flats in Schönwalde or a house in Eldena near the monastery ruins. The 236 km are motorway as far as Gützkow; at approx. 3 hrs of pure driving time, the driving time stays below the 4.5 hours after which a break is mandatory. Whether loading, the route and unloading can be done in one day for your volume we clarify at the survey – together with the fixed price and liability under the German Commercial Code (HGB).

Move
planning Berlin ↔ Greifswald
For the move to Greifswald we take more off your hands than the driving if you wish: boxes and packing material, furniture assembly, the parking restriction zone (Halteverbotszone) in front of both buildings and interim storage if moving out and moving in are far apart. We pad laboratory equipment, monitors and pictures individually; on request we clear and clean the old flat. For registration you have two weeks after moving in (§ 17 Federal Registration Act, BMG) – on the Ryck at the town's registration authority, in Berlin at the registration office (Bürgeramt).

Greifswald and Berlin in both directions
Studies, hospital, coast: reasons for Greifswald
A move from Berlin to Greifswald often has to do with the university: the University of Greifswald, founded in 1456 – since 2018 without its former addition Ernst-Moritz-Arndt – has around 9,000 students, plus the university medical centre as a major employer. Others are attracted by the location on the Ryck and the Greifswald Bodden, the brick buildings of the Hanseatic town or the proximity to Rügen and Usedom. For us that means: everything from a shared-flat room to a family household.
The move from Greifswald to Berlin often follows final exams, a job in the capital or family. Then too, we look at the household goods in Greifswald, give the fixed price and send the same team right up to the Berlin flat door; we apply for the loading zone there at the district office.
236 km via the A11 and A20: route, driving time and process
From Stromstraße 21 it is around 236 kilometres to Greifswald. The lorry takes the A114 and a short stretch of the Berlin Ring to the Barnim junction, then the A11 through the Schorfheide to the Uckermark interchange and on along the A20 towards Stralsund. After Jarmen it crosses the Peene valley on the Peene Valley Bridge and leaves the motorway at the Gützkow exit. Removal lorries over 3.5 t drive at most 80 km/h on the motorway (§ 18 (5) StVO), so we calculate with approx. 3 hrs lorry driving time – below the 4.5 hours after which EU Regulation 561/2006 requires a 45-minute break.
In town we drive slowly: Greifswald is regarded as Germany's cycling capital, with 44 per cent of everyday journeys made by bike. Then we unload and assemble on request; whether everything fits into one day is decided after the survey.
From the city centre to Wieck: arriving in Greifswald
Greifswald is the district town of the district of Vorpommern-Greifswald and is divided into very different districts: the city centre around the market square, the Fleischervorstadt and the Steinbeckervorstadt, the residential areas of Schönwalde I and II and the Ostseeviertel, plus Eldena and the former fishing village of Wieck with its wooden bascule bridge at the mouth of the Ryck. For period buildings we check the stairwell and access in advance, as not every street has room for a large lorry.
Schönwalde II alone was built with around 5,250 flats; there we clarify floor and lift in advance, while in the city centre it is more the parking space that is scarce. If you are drawn back to Berlin, we apply for the loading zone in front of the new building at the district office and plan the day around the start of your tenancy.
What Greifswald costs depending on household size
Whether you are moving to the Ryck or from there back to the Spree: the price is determined first and foremost by the amount of your household goods. As a rough guide:
| Flat | Loading space | Starting price |
|---|---|---|
| Shared-flat room or 1 room | 10–15 m³ | from €350 |
| Two-room flat | 20–25 m³ | from €590 |
| Three-room flat | 30–40 m³ | from €890 |
| Four-room flat | 45–60 m³ | from €1,290 |
| House with garden | from 60 m³ | quote after appointment |
For the around 236 km from Moabit to the Ryck the guide price is from €840, the same in both directions. It becomes binding after a free survey.
Volume, floor, old-town lane: what the price depends on
The deciding factor is the volume, followed by the route of around 236 km via the A11 and A20. Floor and lift also count – in a housing block without a lift the team carries every box upstairs – plus furniture assembly and the loading zone. If you only take a little, you save with a part load.
