Moving from Berlin to Flensburg (Schleswig-Holstein) – and back

Removal company Berlin
From Moabit to the Förde: your move to Flensburg
To just short of Denmark
A move from Berlin to Flensburg crosses almost the whole of northern Germany: from our base at Stromstraße 21 in Moabit the lorry takes the A111 onto the Berlin ring road and, at the Havelland interchange, the A24 heading north-west. We bypass Hamburg to the east – via the B 404 and the A21 past Bad Segeberg; near Neumünster we join the A7 and continue over the Rader Hochbrücke to Flensburg. That is around 425 km, approx. 6.5 hrs by removal lorry including the mandatory break. Call us on 01625978461 and arrange a survey for your Berlin Flensburg move.
Whether the outbound trip from the Spree to the Förde or a return move from Flensburg to Berlin – we set the fixed price after the survey, and congestion on the A24 or the weather change nothing about it. Over this distance we decide with you whether everything can be done in one long day or whether we load the day before. We are liable under the German Commercial Code (§ 451e HGB: €620 per cubic metre of cargo space), and for valuables additional protection is available on request. We come from Berlin and drive right to your door in Flensburg.

Move
planning for Flensburg
A Berlin Flensburg move needs more planning than a move within the city – from the parking restriction zone outside your Berlin flat to the parking space at the new house in Flensburg. We advise on the number of boxes, moving date and part loads for smaller quantities; you must register with the registration office within two weeks. The return move from Flensburg to Berlin has its own hurdles too, such as the flat search in Berlin's tight market. A checklist and one fixed contact person make every step easier.

FAQ on long-distance moves in both directions
Why people head to the Förde – and back to Berlin
A move from Berlin to Flensburg is often linked to study or work: around 9,000 people study at the Europa-Universität Flensburg and the Hochschule Flensburg combined, and Mürwik is home to a naval base. Others are drawn to the Flensburg Förde, at whose inner end lies Germany's northernmost independent city, or to a town with a Danish character – Flensburg is the centre of the Danish minority in Southern Schleswig. We transport your household goods from the capital to just short of the Danish border.
The return move from Flensburg to Berlin often follows a new job, the larger job market or a return to family and friends. Graduates, too, are often drawn to the capital after their studies. We plan both directions with equal care – with a fixed price after a survey and liability under the German Commercial Code.
425 km, Hamburg bypassed: route, driving time and schedule
From Stromstraße 21 in Moabit to Flensburg it is around 425 kilometres. The lorry takes the A111 and the Berlin ring road (A10) to the Havelland interchange, then 215 km on the A24 via Wittstock/Dosse to the Schwarzenbek/Grande junction. Via the B 404 and the A21 past Bad Segeberg and the B 205 near Neumünster it reaches the A7, which takes it over the last 90 km across the Rader Hochbrücke on the Kiel Canal to Flensburg. At a maximum of 80 km/h for lorries over 3.5 t (§ 18 (5) StVO) that is a good five and a half hours of driving time. After four and a half hours, EU Regulation 561/2006 requires a 45-minute break – approx. 6.5 hrs in total.
With loading in Berlin and unloading in Flensburg this makes a very long working day. Whether we start early in the morning or load the day before and unload the next morning, we decide at the survey according to your volume. For the return move from Flensburg to Berlin the same planning applies in the opposite direction via the A7, A21 and A24.
Arriving in Flensburg – or back in Berlin
Flensburg lies at the inner end of the Flensburg Förde and has around 95,000 inhabitants in 13 districts, including the Altstadt, Neustadt, Jürgensby, Sandberg, Mürwik, Fruerlund, Friesischer Berg, Weiche and Tarup. The nearest border crossing to Denmark is in the neighbouring municipality of Harrislee, and via the A7 the road continues at Ellund towards Aabenraa. Depending on the address we take the Flensburg or Flensburg/Harrislee exit; we check access and parking before moving day.
On a return move to Berlin you can expect a much tighter housing market, especially in neighbourhoods such as Prenzlauer Berg, Friedrichshain or Neukölln. In return the capital offers a wide range of jobs and plenty of culture. We take care of the logistics – including the parking restriction zone via the district office – so that the change goes smoothly.
