Removal company Berlin
From Moabit to the silver town: your move to Freiberg
Via the A13 and A4
A long-distance move from Berlin to Freiberg leads from our base at Stromstraße 21 in Moabit around 151 km along the A13 to the Dresden-Nord interchange, then around 37 km along the A4 past Dresden to the Siebenlehn junction. From there the B101 takes the lorry south into the town. In total that is around 238 km and approx. 3 hrs by lorry. We handle the move from Berlin to Freiberg as well as the move from Freiberg to Berlin – with one team that packs, drives and sets everything up again.
At the survey we record volume, floors and access at both addresses – in Freiberg, for example, whether the lorry can get close enough to the front door in the old town between Obermarkt and Untermarkt. On request we arrange a parking restriction zone (Halteverbotszone) at both addresses and interim storage if the new flat in Freiberg or Berlin is not yet free. We are liable under the German Commercial Code (§ 451e HGB: €620 per cubic metre of loading space); additional protection is possible for valuables.

Why Freiberg usually fits into one moving day
One team for the A13, A4 and the B101 to Freiberg
We come from Berlin-Moabit and drive right to the door in Freiberg – into the old town, to Freiberg-Nord with Loßnitz, to Zug or to another district. At around 238 km and approx. 3 hrs by lorry, the route stays below the 4.5-hour driving time limit after which a break is mandatory; at the survey we decide whether loading, driving and unloading can be done in one day for your volume. The fixed price is then set in writing and covers loading, transport and unloading. We are liable for damage under the HGB – for the move to Freiberg as well as for the move back to Berlin.

Berlin – Freiberg: questions about route and price
Bergakademie, old town, peace and quiet: who moves to Freiberg
Many who move from Berlin to Freiberg come because of the TU Bergakademie Freiberg: founded in 1765, the university is one of the oldest mining universities in the world and attracts students as well as staff in raw materials and materials research. Others look for more peace or more space in the district town of the Mittelsachsen district. We handle the long-distance move with packing, transport and furniture assembly right into the new flat in Freiberg.
The move from Freiberg to Berlin often follows a completed degree or doctorate, when the first job in the capital is waiting, or has family reasons. Here too: survey, written fixed price, one team from door to door and liability under the German Commercial Code. We coordinate the date with the end of term or the start of work.
238 km via the A13, A4 and B101: route and process
From Stromstraße 21 to Freiberg it is around 238 kilometres. The lorry leaves Berlin via the A100 and A113 and then drives around 151 km on the A13 to the Dresden-Nord interchange. There it switches to the A4 towards Chemnitz and drives past Dresden to the Siebenlehn junction, where the B101 joins; on it we head south to Freiberg. Lorries over 3.5 t may drive at no more than 80 km/h on the motorway (§ 18 (5) StVO), so we reckon with approx. 3 hrs lorry driving time – and plan a buffer for the Dresden area.
On moving day we load in Berlin or Freiberg, drive via the A13 and A4 and unload at the destination; on request we set up the furniture again straight away. For a typical household this usually fits into one day; for a large volume we decide at the survey whether to plan two days. We drive the move from Freiberg to Berlin on the same route in the opposite direction.
Obermarkt, Untermarkt, cathedral: living in Freiberg
Freiberg was shaped by silver mining: silver ore was found near Christiansdorf in 1168, and since 2019 the historic town centre has been part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site Erzgebirge/Krušnohoří Mining Region. The old town is divided into the upper town with the Obermarkt and town hall and the lower town with the Untermarkt and St. Mary's Cathedral, known for its Golden Gate and Silbermann organ. There are also the districts of Freiberg-Nord (with Loßnitz), -Ost, -Süd and -West as well as Halsbach, Kleinwaltersdorf and Zug. In the old town we check access and parking in advance, because not every lane has room for a large lorry.
For the move back to Berlin it pays to start the flat search early and keep the moving date flexible; if necessary we bridge the time with storage. In Berlin's inner-city districts parking is scarce – we apply for the parking restriction zone there at the district office so that, after around three hours' drive, the lorry stands right outside the door.
Costs for the 238 km to Freiberg
A room for the start of term at the Bergakademie costs differently from a family household from Pankow. The following starting prices apply to the route to Freiberg as well as to the return trip from Freiberg:
| Flat size | Volume | Price from |
|---|---|---|
| 1-room flat | 10–15 m³ | from €350 |
| 2-room flat | 20–25 m³ | from €590 |
| 3-room flat | 30–40 m³ | from €890 |
| 4-room flat | 45–60 m³ | from €1,290 |
| House / villa | from 60 m³ | individual quote |
For the around 238 km via the A13, A4 and B101 we charge from €850. The fixed price you receive in writing after a free survey is binding.
Lanes, floors, volume: what determines the Freiberg price
The deciding factor is the amount of household goods. Then there are the 238 km with the last stretch on the B101 and the location at the destination: in the old town between the Obermarkt and the cathedral, lanes are narrow and carrying distances longer. Furniture assembly, parking zone and a floor without a lift also count; for a few items part-load transport is the cheaper choice.
