Moving Berlin – Munich: 585 km on the A9 to Schwabing and back

Removal company Berlin
One team for your Berlin – Munich move via the A9
From Moabit via the A9
A move from Berlin to Munich is above all a long motorway drive: from our base at Stromstraße 21 in Moabit the lorry takes the A100, the AVUS (A115) and the Berlin ring road onto the A9, which carries it past Leipzig, Hof, Nuremberg and Ingolstadt all the way to Munich-Schwabing. We pack, dismantle furniture and load the vehicle so that whatever is needed first in Munich comes out first. Stairwells without a lift, pianos or heavy wardrobes are clarified in advance at the survey – at both addresses.
We set the fixed price at the free survey – in your Berlin flat or by video. For the roughly 585 km we allow approx. 8.5 hrs of lorry driving time, including the mandatory break after four and a half hours. If the new address is in Munich's low-emission zone, which has also covered the Mittlerer Ring since February 2023, we check in advance that the vehicle used meets the sticker and diesel requirements. If the flat is not yet free, we put your things into storage. We are liable under the German Commercial Code (HGB) (§ 451e: €620 per cubic metre of cargo space), with more cover available on request.

Your long-distance moving partner in both directions
Our base is Berlin-Moabit, Stromstraße 21 – from there we drive right to your front door in Munich. Rear courtyards, side wings and Berlin stairwells are part of our everyday work; for the Munich address, whether in Schwabing-West, Sendling or Bogenhausen, we look at access, floor and parking space beforehand using your photos. After the survey the fixed price is set; for damage, statutory liability under the German Commercial Code (HGB) applies, and optional additional insurance is possible. FAQ on long-distance moves in both directions
To Munich for the job – and back to Berlin
Many people move from Berlin to Munich because corporations such as BMW, Siemens or Allianz have their headquarters there, or to study, for example at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität. They then often look in neighbourhoods such as the Maxvorstadt or Bogenhausen. For this journey we take care of packing, dismantling, transport over around 585 km and reassembly in the new flat – with a fixed price that is set after the survey.
We drive from Munich to Berlin in just the same way: after a job ends, for studies or to return to family and friends. Destinations include Prenzlauer Berg or Friedrichshain, where as a Berlin company we know rear courtyards and side wings from everyday work. Parking restriction zones at both addresses and furniture assembly are part of it in this direction too.
The route: from Moabit onto the A9 to Schwabing
From our base at Stromstraße 21 it is only a few kilometres on the A100 city motorway to the Funkturm interchange, then the route continues via the AVUS (A115) and a short stretch of the Berlin ring road (A10) to the Potsdam interchange. That is where the A9 begins, and the lorry stays on it almost to the destination: past the Schkeuditz interchange near Leipzig, over the Hermsdorf interchange, past Hof, Bayreuth and Nuremberg and via Ingolstadt to Munich-Schwabing – around 585 km in total.
A lorry over 3.5 t may not drive faster than 80 km/h on the motorway (§ 18 (5) StVO); after 4.5 hours of driving time at the latest, EU Regulation 561/2006 requires a 45-minute break. For the A9 to Munich that adds up to approx. 8.5 hrs of driving time. With loading and unloading the day is full – whether two drivers manage everything in one day or we split it over two days, we decide together at the survey. The same route applies for the return trip to Berlin.
Arriving in Munich – and back in Berlin
With a good 1.5 million inhabitants, Munich is the most densely populated municipality in Germany, spread across 25 city districts from the Maxvorstadt via Au-Haidhausen to Bogenhausen. For the move that means: parking spaces outside the building are scarce and flats are in demand – apply for the parking restriction in good time and start your search early. We come from Berlin (Stromstraße 21), drive right to your door in Munich, carry everything in and assemble the furniture.
Anyone moving back to Berlin often ends up in old buildings with a rear courtyard and side wing, for example in Charlottenburg, Kreuzberg or Prenzlauer Berg. Buildings like these are our everyday work in Berlin: we plan the carrying route across the courtyard and, where necessary, a furniture lift. Here too we take care of the complete unloading and furniture assembly in your new flat.
Guide prices for the Berlin ↔ Munich move
Whether you are going to Munich or coming back from Munich to Berlin – these figures are an initial reference point. What is in the fixed price does not change later:
| Size | Moving volume | Guide price |
|---|---|---|
| Apartment (1 room) | 10–15 m³ | from €350 |
| 2-room flat | 20–25 m³ | from €590 |
| 3-room flat | 30–40 m³ | from €890 |
| 4-room flat | 45–60 m³ | from €1,290 |
| House | from 60 m³ | Quote after a survey |
For the roughly 585 km on the A9 we set a guide price from €2,420 – there and back alike, with volume and extra services added.
It becomes binding with the fixed price you receive after the free survey.
What determines the price of your move to Munich
Three things decide the price. First the volume, because it determines the lorry size and crew. Then the distance: for Berlin–Munich that is around 585 km (from €4/km). And finally the conditions at both addresses – floor, access, a lift – as well as extras such as furniture assembly or a parking restriction zone, which is often needed in Munich because parking spaces are scarce. With a part load you save on small quantities.
Services from packing to clearance
Between the Spree and the Isar we take care of:
- Private move – your whole flat, packing included on request
- Company move – office including IT, planned for a quick restart
- Furniture transport – a designer piece, piano or heirloom wardrobe on its own
- Part load – space on an A9 tour to Upper Bavaria
- Move with assembly – dismantling in Berlin, reassembly in the Munich flat
- Clearance – cellar and storeroom emptied before moving out
