From the Spree to Lake Constance: moving Berlin–Bregenz

Removal company Berlin
Through the Allgäu to Lake Constance: moving Berlin ↔ Bregenz
Hörbranz/Lochau exit
If you are moving to Lake Constance, we do not drive via Munich: from Berlin the lorry rolls along the A9 to Nuremberg, switches to the A6 as far as the Feuchtwangen/Crailsheim interchange, takes the A7 down into the Allgäu and from Memmingen the A96 to Lindau. Austria begins at the Leiblach, and the very first exit, Hörbranz/Lochau, leads along the lake into the Vorarlberg state capital. We are at home in Moabit (Stromstraße 21), not in Vorarlberg. What goes into the lorry, which furniture we dismantle and what access in Bregenz looks like, we clarify during the survey – then the fixed price is set.
Adding up driving and breaks, the lorry comes to about 11 hours – two more than EU Regulation 561/2006 allows a driver per day. For Bregenz that means: a change of driver on the way so that the lorry reaches the lake in the evening, or a night in the Allgäu and unloading in the morning. The quote shows which option is cheaper. In the event of damage, liability under the HGB applies (§ 451e: €620 per cubic metre); for art or instruments we arrange higher cover. We also handle dismantling, driving and assembly if you return from Bregenz to Berlin.

Lake Constance at a fixed price
Toll, change of driver, parking restriction: all in the quote
We write the fixed price for Bregenz after we have seen your household – at your home in Berlin or on a video call, appointments on 01625978461. The quote includes the lorry toll for Germany and Austria, the choice between a change of driver and an overnight stay in the Allgäu, both parking restrictions and furniture assembly by the lake. Enquiring early gives you a wider choice of dates. For the way back to Berlin we calculate in the same way.
Quotes available individually, depending on the work involved, availability and the scope of services required.

Long-Distance Move

No-Parking Zone

One crew from Moabit to the lakeshore
Loading on the Spree, unloading on Lake Constance
727 kilometres of motorway and an internal border at the Leiblach separate Berlin from Bregenz. Household goods are not declared there; our planning revolves around driving times, rest areas, tolls in two countries and parking restrictions on both sides. The team that sets off from Stromstraße 21 also carries the furniture into your flat in Bregenz. You receive the fixed price in writing after the survey; liability follows the HGB, and higher cover is possible. We plan a piano, furniture assembly or a few weeks of storage straight away. The same applies to the move from Bregenz back to Berlin.

Lake
Constance move step by step
Before the drive to Lake Constance we discuss with you: the parking restriction in Berlin (district office) and at your new address in Bregenz, dismantling of the kitchen and wardrobes, a piano and other heavy items, storage if the handover is delayed, a change of driver or an overnight stay in the Allgäu, and your registration. In Austria the new residence must be registered within three days of moving in with the registration form (Meldezettel). Anyone moving the other way, from Lake Constance to Berlin, deregisters in Bregenz and has two weeks in Berlin to register at the citizens' office (Bürgeramt).

Lake Constance, route, deadlines, way back
State capital between the lake and the Pfänder
Bregenz has around 29,000 inhabitants and is the capital of Vorarlberg: the state government meets here in the Landhaus, here stands the lake stage of the Bregenz Festival, and here the boats dock at the larger of the two Austrian ports on Lake Constance. The town lies on the eastern shore of the lake, squeezed between the water and the 1,064 m Pfänder; to the north it borders Lochau and Lindau in Bavaria, and to the south the Bregenzer Ach forms the boundary. Anyone moving from Berlin to Bregenz changes country within the EU – there is nothing to declare for furniture and household goods at the Leiblach. What matters to us is where the lorry can stand at your address and how many stairs there are.
Conversely, for the move from Bregenz to Berlin, we load by the lake and drive back via Lindau, Memmingen and Nuremberg. The price is determined by volume, floors, assembly and the 727 kilometres; the direction changes nothing. We arrange the parking restrictions at both addresses for you.
727 km via Nuremberg, Memmingen, Lindau
We usually load in Berlin in the morning. The A100, AVUS (A115) and the Berlin ring road A10 take us onto the A9, which we drive as far as Nuremberg. At the Nürnberg-Süd interchange we head west onto the A6 (77 km) to Feuchtwangen/Crailsheim, then 148 km on the A7 south into the Allgäu to Memmingen. The A96 (64 km) ends at the border near Lindau, where the Austrian Rheintal/Walgau motorway A14 continues. Instead of entering the Pfänder tunnel, we leave it at the first exit, Hörbranz/Lochau, and reach Bregenz on the main road along the lake. Altogether: around 727 km, about 11 hrs including breaks.
Lorries over 3.5 t may drive at 80 km/h on German motorways (§ 18 (5) StVO); after 4.5 hours of driving time a 45-minute break is required. Because the route exceeds one driver's daily driving time, two drivers take turns or we stay overnight in the Allgäu. In the new flat we set up and assemble the furniture. For the move from Bregenz to Berlin we drive the route in reverse.
Oberstadt, Vorkloster, Rieden, Fluh: arriving in Bregenz
Bregenz consists of the districts Stadt, Vorkloster, Rieden and Fluh. Above the centre lies the walled Oberstadt with the Martinsturm, the landmark from 1601 – the lanes there are narrow and steep. Vorkloster, on the plain towards the Bregenzer Ach, is by contrast easy to reach with a large lorry, while Fluh is a mountain hamlet high up on the slope of the Pfänder. For every address we clarify access, parking space and carrying route in advance and bring a smaller vehicle or a furniture lift if needed. After moving in you have three days to register with the city's registration office using the registration form (Meldezettel); your landlord (Unterkunftgeber) also signs it, and you need ID. With ID Austria it can be done online via oesterreich.gv.at.
Anyone moving back to Berlin deregisters in Bregenz within the window from three days before to three days after moving out and registers in Berlin within two weeks at the citizens' office (Bürgeramt). If the Berlin handover is later, we store the belongings and deliver on the date. For unloading in Berlin we apply for the parking restriction at the district office.
Bregenz: guide prices by flat size
Whether you are going from Berlin to Bregenz or from Bregenz to Berlin: you receive a fixed price that does not change after the contract is signed. First reference points by flat size:
| Flat size | Volume | Price from |
|---|---|---|
| 1-room flat | 10–15 m³ | from €350 |
| 2-room flat | 20–25 m³ | from €590 |
| 3-room flat | 30–40 m³ | from €890 |
| 4-room flat | 45–60 m³ | from €1,290 |
| House / villa | from 60 m³ | individual quote |
For the Lake Constance route (around 727 km) a guide price from €2,950 applies, there and back. We list tolls, a change of driver or an overnight stay in the Allgäu separately. You receive the binding price after a free survey.
These points determine the price for Bregenz
The volume is decisive. On the Berlin–Bregenz route the roughly 727 km are added (from €4/km), as well as the lorry toll in both countries. Floor, lift and extras such as furniture assembly or a parking restriction outside the building also count. Not much to move? Then a part load saves money.
