Moving Berlin–Feldkirch: 760 km to where three countries meet

Removal company Berlin
To Austria's western border: moving Berlin ↔ Feldkirch
Feldkirch-Nord exit
You cannot go further west in Austria: Feldkirch is the westernmost municipality in the country and borders Switzerland and Liechtenstein. From our base in Moabit (Stromstraße 21) – we have no office in Vorarlberg – it is around 760 kilometres. The lorry takes the A9 to Nuremberg, the A6 and A7 through the Allgäu to Memmingen and the A96 to Lindau; after that come a good 35 km of the Rheintal/Walgau motorway A14, past Bregenz, Dornbirn and Hohenems to the Feldkirch-Nord exit. We record volume, lorry size, assembly and access at the survey; that becomes your fixed price.
Anyone moving from Feldkirch to Berlin gets the same process, just mirrored. A good 11.5 hrs of lorry time with breaks exceeds one driver's daily driving time under EU Regulation 561/2006, so a two-driver team drives or the move is spread over two days – which solution, we decide after the survey. We include parking restrictions at both addresses, dismantling and assembling the furniture and, on request, a final cleaning of the old flat in the quote. For damage, liability under HGB applies (§ 451e: €620 per cubic metre).

One price to the Ill
Guide price and written fixed price for Feldkirch
For Berlin–Feldkirch, in whichever direction, our guide price is from €3,100. We give you the fixed price after the survey: volume, assembly, the lorry toll on the A14 and a two-driver team or overnight stop are then in black and white in the quote. Book on 01625978461 – the survey takes place in your Berlin flat or by video, free of charge.
Quotes are available individually depending on effort, availability of dates and the scope of services required.

One team to the western edge of Austria
Loading in Berlin, setting up on the Ill
Between Berlin and Feldkirch there is only one border, and it is an internal EU border: at Hörbranz the lorry rolls into Vorarlberg without stopping, and nothing has to be declared for furniture and household goods. What we do have to plan for are driving times, the tolls on the German and Austrian sides and two parking restrictions. Our team starts at Stromstraße 21 and stays with you until the last piece of furniture in Feldkirch. The fixed price is set in writing after the survey; liability is under HGB. The same applies to the trip from Feldkirch to Berlin.

What we commit to for Feldkirch
For Feldkirch this means: a written fixed price before moving day, a list of all services and a schedule that takes breaks, driver changes and the last kilometres through the Rhine Valley into account.
Same crew, same contact
Furniture where it belongs
Everything itemised
Schedule to Feldkirch-Nord
Storage if things get stuck
Parking space secured
Partial load to where three countries meet
Only a few belongings for Feldkirch? Ask about a part load: your things ride along on a tour that is heading towards Lake Constance and Vorarlberg anyway, and you only pay for the space they take up. Liability under HGB applies here too. Whether and when a tour via the A9, A7 and A96 fits, you will find out after your enquiry.

Process
Berlin ↔ Feldkirch
A move between Berlin and Feldkirch involves more than the drive: packing, dismantling, loading, transport and reassembly. Depending on the situation, a part load for small quantities, interim storage in Berlin if the handover is postponed, and the parking restrictions are added – in Berlin via the district office, in Feldkirch via the responsible authority. After moving in you have three days to register with the registration form (Meldezettel); when moving away to Berlin you deregister on the Ill and have two weeks in Berlin for the citizens' office (Bürgeramt). We clarify a two-driver team or overnight stop at the survey.

Where three countries meet: route, authorities, return trip
Feldkirch: the Montfort town on the border with two countries
Around 36,600 people live in Feldkirch, Vorarlberg's second-largest town after Dornbirn. The town lies where the Ill valley opens into the Rhine plain, borders Switzerland and Liechtenstein and, with Vorarlberg's only regional court and the bishop's seat, is regarded as the „secret state capital“. Anyone moving from Berlin to Feldkirch stays within the EU single market: furniture and household goods cross the border at Hörbranz without formalities, but a registration deadline of three days applies. We take care of packing, the 760 kilometres and furniture assembly; whether the lorry can stop outside your building and how many stairs there are, we clarify beforehand.
For the move from Feldkirch to Berlin we reverse the order: loading on the Ill, back via the A14, Lindau, Memmingen and Nuremberg, unloading in Berlin. The price is determined by volume, floors, assembly and route, not by direction – and you have the same contact person in both directions.
760 km: Allgäu, Lindau, Pfänder tunnel, Rhine Valley
From Moabit we drive via the A100, AVUS (A115) and A10 onto the A9 to Nuremberg, switch to the A6 as far as Feuchtwangen/Crailsheim, take the A7 (148 km) to Memmingen and the A96 (64 km) to Lindau. From the border at Hörbranz it is around 35 km on the A14: through the Pfänder tunnel, past Bregenz, Dornbirn, Hohenems, Götzis and Rankweil to the Feldkirch-Nord exit; south of the town the motorway continues through the Amberg tunnel into the Walgau. In total that is about 760 km and 11.5 hrs with breaks – too much for one driver, hence a two-driver team or an overnight stop.
On German motorways, lorries over 3.5 t are limited to 80 km/h (§ 18 (5) StVO), and after 4.5 hours of driving time a 45-minute break follows. In Feldkirch we unload directly at your address, whether in the city centre, in Tosters or in Nofels, and assemble the furniture. We drive the move from Feldkirch to Berlin along the same route in reverse.
Seven districts, a narrow old town and the registration deadline
Since 1925 Feldkirch has comprised seven districts: the Innenstadt with the Schattenburg, Katzenturm and Montforthaus, plus Altenstadt, Gisingen, Levis, Nofels, Tisis and Tosters. The medieval old town is one of the best preserved in Vorarlberg – for a lorry that means narrow lanes and little space to stop, which is why we often work with a smaller vehicle there. The town is home to, among others, the University College of Teacher Education Vorarlberg and the Stella Vorarlberg private music university. After moving in you register within three days with the registration form (Meldezettel), signed by your accommodation provider; online it works with ID Austria via oesterreich.gv.at.
Anyone returning to Berlin deregisters in Feldkirch between three days before and three days after moving out, and registers in Berlin within two weeks at the citizens' office (Bürgeramt). For unloading we apply for the parking restriction at the district office and set the date to match your flat handover.

What makes up the price for Berlin–Feldkirch
The volume weighs most heavily. For Berlin–Feldkirch the route comes on top (around 760 km, from €4/km) together with the lorry toll on the A14. Then come the floor, lift and extras such as furniture assembly or a parking restriction zone outside the old-town flat. For small quantities a part load is cheaper.
