For the move from Berlin to Eisenach our lorry drives from Stromstraße 21 in Moabit via the A100, the AVUS and the Berlin ring road to the Potsdam interchange, on the A9 to the Hermsdorf interchange and then on the A4 west through the whole of Thuringia: past Jena, Weimar, Erfurt and Gotha to the Eisenach-Ost junction. A move from Berlin to Eisenach takes you to a town with a lot of history: above it stands the Wartburg, a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1999, where Martin Luther translated the New Testament in 1521/22. Johann Sebastian Bach was born in Eisenach in 1685, and the Bach House opened in 1907. Economically, car-making shapes the town – from the vehicle factory of 1896, where the Wartburg car was built in GDR times, to Opel production since 1990; together Opel and Bosch employ over 4,000 people in Eisenach. Since 2021 Eisenach has been a large district town (Große Kreisstadt) in the Wartburgkreis.

Mandatory break planned in: how the lorry drives to Eisenach
From Stromstraße 21 to Eisenach it is around 358 kilometres. The lorry takes the AVUS and the Berlin ring road onto the A9 and at the Hermsdorf interchange onto the A4, which it follows through the whole of Thuringia to the Eisenach-Ost junction. Removal lorries over 3.5 t drive at no more than 80 km/h on the motorway (§ 18 (5) StVO). The pure driving time is over four and a half hours, so under EU Regulation 561/2006 a 45-minute break is mandatory – we calculate approx. 5.5 hrs lorry driving time including the break.
In Berlin we secure your furniture; in Eisenach we unload and assemble it on request. Whether loading, the drive with a break and unloading can be done in one day for your volume is decided during the survey – the same process applies to the way back to Berlin.
Old town, Stedtfeld, Neuenhof: arriving in Eisenach
Eisenach consists of the core town and eleven outlying districts, including Stedtfeld, Neuenhof, Hörschel, Stockhausen and Wartha. The town lies in the valley of the Hörsel, with the Wartburg around 220 m above it on a ridge.
