From the Spree to the Main: your move to Würzburg
Via Bamberg and Schweinfurt
Würzburg lies in the basin of the middle Main valley, and the Main accompanies the lorry for a good stretch beforehand: from Stromstraße 21 we first take the A9 heading south, then the A70 at the Bayreuth/Kulmbach interchange. This “Main Valley motorway” (Maintalautobahn) runs around 119 km past Kulmbach, Bamberg and Schweinfurt to the Schweinfurt/Werneck junction; the A7 covers the last few kilometres. Altogether that makes 493 km and approx. 7.5 hrs by lorry including a break. Our guide price starts from €1,860; the fixed price becomes binding after a survey – the same applies to the move from Würzburg to Berlin.
Before the quote we look at what is coming along: in your flat or via a video call, with an eye on volume, stairs and the route from the house to the lorry – in Berlin as in Würzburg. From that we plan the vehicle, crew and time. Dismantling the kitchen, taking furniture apart, carefully packing porcelain and a wine collection: we do that on request. Your long-distance move Berlin Würzburg has one fixed contact person from the first conversation to the handover of keys. Liability is under § 451e HGB (€620 per cubic metre of cargo space); for valuable items, optional additional insurance can be arranged.

Why we drive to Würzburg via the A70
From the Spree into the Main valley with one team
With 133,753 inhabitants, Würzburg is the second-largest city in Franconia after Nuremberg. As a Berlin company we set off from Moabit and drive right up to your front door on the Main. Over 493 km via the A9, A70 and A7, the lorry takes approx. 7.5 hrs, including the mandatory 45-minute break after at most four and a half hours of driving time. With loading and unloading this becomes a very long day; whether it is two drivers or two days is set out in the fixed price after the survey – with liability under the HGB, there and back.

For the journey to the Main and back
University hospital, university, the Main: who moves to Würzburg
People who move from Berlin to Würzburg often do so for a job or a university place. According to Wikipedia, the largest employer is the University Hospital Würzburg (Universitätsklinikum) with around 7,500 employees; Brose is considered the largest industrial employer, and the printing press manufacturer Koenig & Bauer is also based here. The Julius-Maximilians-Universität goes back to a college founded in 1402, and in the 2025/26 winter semester 35,385 students were enrolled in the city. And then there is the wine: three of the fifteen largest wine estates in Germany are based in Würzburg.
The move back from Würzburg to Berlin often comes after final exams, with a new job or because the family lives in Berlin. For us only the direction changes: a survey on the Main, a fixed price, parking restrictions at both addresses and the same crew all the way to the Berlin door.
493 km via the A9, A70 and A7: route, break, procedure
In the morning we load in Berlin, every piece of furniture strapped down and protected with blankets. From Stromstraße 21 it is then around 493 kilometres to Würzburg: via the AVUS and the Berlin ring road onto the A9, past Leipzig and the Hermsdorf interchange to the Bayreuth/Kulmbach junction. From here the lorry drives on the A70, the Main Valley motorway – around 119 km via Kulmbach, Bamberg and Schweinfurt to the Schweinfurt/Werneck junction, running right alongside the Main between Schonungen and Knetzgau. Around 20 km on the A7 take it to Würzburg. Removal lorries over 3.5 t are limited to 80 km/h on motorways (§ 18 (5) StVO), and EU Regulation 561/2006 requires a 45-minute break after 4.5 hours of driving time. That is why we plan approx. 7.5 hrs of driving including the break.
Loading in Berlin, the journey, unloading on the Main – that makes a very long working day. Whether your move fits into one day or we plan two drivers or two days is settled after the survey. For the return move from Würzburg to Berlin we drive the same route in reverse.
Arriving in Würzburg – or back in Berlin
Würzburg lies in the Main triangle and is divided into 13 city districts, including the Altstadt, the Sanderau, the Frauenland, Grombühl, the Zellerau, Heidingsfeld, Versbach, Lengfeld and the Heuchelhof. Above the city stands the Marienberg Fortress, the Residence has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1981, and the Old Main Bridge dates back in its beginnings to the 12th century. In the old town, access is often narrow; we check the parking space, floor and stairwell in advance and set the date around your key handover.
Back in Berlin, a much larger housing market awaits – from Prenzlauer Berg to Neukölln, with very different neighbourhoods (Kieze). Start searching early; as soon as the address is fixed, we apply for the parking restriction zone at the road traffic authority of the district office.
