Moving to Erlangen: 444 km to the Siemens and university town

Removal company Berlin
Three motorways to the Regnitz: moving to Erlangen
Via Bamberg and Forchheim
Departure is from Stromstraße 21, the destination is in Middle Franconia: the lorry takes the A9 to the Bayreuth/Kulmbach interchange, switches to the A70, which takes it after about 54 km to the Bamberg interchange, and rolls on the A73 past Forchheim to Erlangen. According to the route calculation that is 444 km; for a removal lorry we plan approx. 6.5 hrs including a break. We set the guide price at from €1,750; the binding figure is the fixed price after a survey. Anyone moving from Erlangen to Berlin drives the same chain in reverse order.
Whether a flat in the Baroque Neustadt, on the Anger or in Tennenlohe: before we name a price, we look at your household goods – in your home or by video call – and note the floor, lift and walking distance to the lorry. That determines the vehicle size, the number of helpers and the departure time. Dismantling furniture, packing crockery and screens, and the parking restriction zones on the Spree and the Regnitz are things we take on at your request. Liability is under § 451e HGB at €620 per cubic metre of cargo space; valuables can be additionally protected on request. The fixed price is set before the first box is moved.

444 kilometres, three motorways, one price range: for Erlangen we set a guide price from €1,750. Why the drive to Erlangen goes via Bamberg
Moabit – Bamberg interchange – Erlangen with one crew
Our lorry starts in Moabit, not in Franconia: we are a Berlin removal company and bring your household goods right to the door in Erlangen. The city has 116,450 inhabitants (end of 2025), has been a city with over 100,000 inhabitants (Großstadt) since 1974 and, according to Wikipedia, is shaped by the Friedrich-Alexander University and by Siemens. For the 444 km we calculate approx. 6.5 hrs of driving including the mandatory 45-minute break due after no more than 4.5 hours of driving time. Whether that fits into one day with loading and unloading, or whether two drivers or two days make sense, we clarify at the survey and write it into the quote along with the fixed price and HGB liability.

Spree ↔ Regnitz: asked and answered
University, Siemens, Huguenot town: who moves to Erlangen
Many people who move from Berlin to Erlangen already have a university place or a job lined up. According to Wikipedia, the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg and Siemens still shape the city today; after 1945 Erlangen became the „Siemens town“, and Siemens Healthineers has its main site here. The city centre shows older traces: the Baroque Neustadt was built from 1686 for Huguenot religious refugees.
In the opposite direction, i.e. from Erlangen to Berlin, people often move after a doctorate, with a change of job or to return to family. The process and pricing logic stay the same: survey in Erlangen, fixed price, one crew right up to the Berlin flat door, liability under HGB.
Via Bamberg and Forchheim: the 444 km at a glance
It is around 444 kilometres from our departure point at Stromstraße 21 to Erlangen. From Moabit the route goes via the A100 and AVUS to the Berlin ring road and onto the A9, which takes the lorry past Leipzig and the Hermsdorfer Kreuz into Upper Franconia. At the Bayreuth/Kulmbach interchange the A70 branches off; after about 54 km the Bamberg interchange is reached. There the A73 takes over – between Bamberg and Nuremberg often called the Frankenschnellweg – and leads via Forchheim to the Erlangen-Nord, Erlangen-Zentrum and Erlangen-Bruck exits. A lorry over 3.5 t may not drive faster than 80 km/h on the motorway (§ 18 (5) StVO), and after 4.5 hours of driving time a 45-minute break is mandatory (Regulation (EC) No 561/2006) – which results in approx. 6.5 hrs of driving including the break.
The day begins with loading in Berlin and ends with unloading and, if desired, furniture assembly in Erlangen. Whether your volume fits into one day or two drivers or two days are needed is decided by the survey. Back to Berlin everything runs in reverse order: A73, A70, A9.
Arriving in Erlangen – or back in Berlin
Erlangen lies on the Regnitz, with the Main-Danube Canal running west of the city. Its districts include the city centre with the Baroque Huguenot Neustadt, the Burgberg – on whose southern slope the Bergkirchweih fair has been held around Whitsun since 1755 –, the Anger, Röthelheimpark, Büchenbach, Alterlangen and Tennenlohe. Many students and employees are looking for housing at the same time, so an early search pays off. For the move we check access, floor and parking and set the date around your key handover – we would rather not schedule it during the Bergkirchweih around the Burgberg.
If you are heading back to Berlin, parking space is often the bottleneck – in Kreuzberg or Prenzlauer Berg as well as in Moabit. We apply for the parking restriction zone at the road traffic authority of the responsible district office so that the lorry can stand right outside the building after the drive via the A73, A70 and A9.
Guide prices for Erlangen: flat size and route
Before we name a binding amount, a rough classification helps. The following guide prices apply to the trip to Erlangen as well as back to Berlin; the later fixed price contains no hidden items.
| Flat | Moving volume | Price |
|---|---|---|
| 1-room flat | 10–15 m³ | from €350 |
| 2-room flat | 20–25 m³ | from €590 |
| 3-room flat | 30–40 m³ | from €890 |
| 4-room flat | 45–60 m³ | from €1,290 |
| House / villa | from 60 m³ | individual quote |
For the route itself – around 444 km over three motorways – we set a guide price from €1,750, whichever direction. It becomes binding after a free survey.
What the price for a Berlin–Erlangen move depends on
The volume has the greatest effect: how many cubic metres have to go on the lorry determines the vehicle and team size. Next comes the route of around 444 km via the A9, A70 and A73. The floor and lift at both addresses also count, as do a parking restriction zone and extras such as furniture assembly. For small quantities the part load is the cheaper option.
