To the state capital: moving Berlin ↔ St. Pölten
The last stretch on the S33
For the move from Berlin to St. Pölten a Beste Umzug Unternehmen team drives the whole route of around 637 km – from our base at Stromstraße 21 in Moabit to your door on the Traisen; we do not have an office in Austria. At the survey we determine the volume, lorry size and loading day. The fixed price includes tolls, parking restriction and assembly, and there are no per-kilometre surcharges afterwards. Call us on 01625978461 and you will get a quote for the Berlin–St. Pölten route.
We plan the return move from St. Pölten to Berlin in exactly the same way. There is no border control with customs papers on this route – Germany, the Czech Republic and Austria are in the EU. What needs clarifying instead is the route that suits the lorry size, parking spaces outside period buildings in both cities and the registration deadlines. Our liability for your belongings is under the HGB (§ 451e: €620 per cubic metre), and optional additional insurance is available on request. That makes the move plannable in both directions.

Move
planning Berlin ↔ St. Pölten
A move of around 637 km raises questions: which route suits the lorry size, how tolls are charged in the Czech Republic and Austria, when the loading day is and how parking restrictions are applied for in both cities. After moving in, you register in St. Pölten within three days with the registration form (Meldezettel). Interim storage, packing material, furniture assembly and a part load are part of our offer – also if you move back from St. Pölten to Berlin.

FAQ on long-distance moves in both directions
To St. Pölten and back: to the state capital
St. Pölten has been the state capital since 1986 and is today the largest city in Lower Austria; it lies in the Alpine foothills on the Traisen, south of the Wachau. With the construction of the Landhausviertel government quarter, the Lower Austrian state government moved here. Anyone moving from Berlin to St. Pölten stays within the EU – furniture and household goods need no customs papers, but in Austria there is a registration deadline of three days. For us what counts above all is access, parking, floor and lift at your new address; we clarify this at the survey.
The return move from St. Pölten to Berlin follows the same pattern: survey by video or in person, fixed price, parking restriction at both addresses, loading in St. Pölten, the drive via Prague and Dresden and unloading with assembly in Berlin. Volume, floors, lorry size and route determine the price, not the direction.
The route: around 637 km via Prague – the last stretch on the S33
We drive via the A100 and A113 onto the A13 (around 151 km to Dresden), briefly on the A4 and via the A17 (44 km) to the Czech border, then via the D8 to Prague. The shortest connection – around 637 km, approx. 9 h by lorry including breaks – runs via the D3 and Třeboň to the border at Neu-Nagelberg, through the Waldviertel to the Danube and via the Krems expressway S33 to St. Pölten. That is how we drive with vans up to 3.5 t.
For heavier lorries a through-traffic ban applies on the B2 between Neu-Nagelberg and Horn. With these we drive via the D1 to Jihlava, the I/38 to Znojmo and Kleinhaugsdorf, then via the S3 and S5 to the Traismauer Danube bridge – here too the S33 is the last stretch, and the route is somewhat longer. In Germany a speed limit of 80 km/h applies to lorries over 3.5 t (§ 18 para. 5 StVO), with a 45-minute break after four and a half hours of driving. As the driving time comes close to nine hours, we load the day before or use two drivers. The return move to Berlin runs the other way round.
Arriving in St. Pölten: registration form and districts
After moving into St. Pölten you register your residence within three days. You need the registration form (Meldezettel), signed by the person providing your accommodation, and a travel document; online it is possible via oesterreich.gv.at with ID Austria or EU Login. The city comprises 42 cadastral municipalities, and residential areas range from the Innenstadt (city centre) via Viehofen, Wagram and Spratzern, which were incorporated in 1922, to Pottenbrunn in the north. In the city centre we apply for a parking restriction outside the building and check access and carrying distances in advance.
For the return move to Berlin you deregister in St. Pölten within three days before or after moving out and register in Berlin within two weeks at the citizens' office (Bürgeramt). We apply for the parking restriction outside your new Berlin flat at the district office and coordinate the unloading date with the flat handover.
