Moving Berlin – Bremerhaven: 447 km to the Weser estuary

Removal company Berlin
Twice into the state of Bremen: your move to Bremerhaven
All the way to the North Sea
A move from Berlin to Bremerhaven ends in an exclave: the port city belongs to the state of Bremen but is separated from the city of Bremen by Lower Saxony territory. The lorry therefore takes the A27 right through Bremen, leaves the state at Ihlpohl, drives through Lower Saxony and reaches Bremen territory again beyond Stotel. From Moabit it is around 447 km. We work with a fixed price after a survey, packing material and tools for dismantling and assembly; we are liable for your belongings under the German Commercial Code (HGB).
Whether it is the move from Berlin to Bremerhaven or the return move from Bremerhaven to Berlin – for the approx. 6.5 hrs of lorry driving time including the mandatory break, we plan loading, driving and unloading as a whole. Because this makes for a long day, we decide at the survey whether unloading takes place the same evening or the next morning. On request we take care of the packing service, furniture assembly and disposal of old furnishings. This makes the move between the capital and the port city on the Weser estuary easy to plan.

Port city, exclave, way back
Why Bremerhaven – and why back to Berlin
A move from Berlin to Bremerhaven is often about work at the port: Bremerhaven is the largest handling hub for cars in Germany and has a large container terminal along the roughly 5 km Stromkaje quay. There is also research and teaching at the Alfred Wegener Institute and Bremerhaven University of Applied Sciences, as well as jobs in tourism and services. Others look for proximity to the North Sea or a manageable city. We tailor the move planning to your reason for moving.
The return move from Bremerhaven to Berlin often happens because of a new job, a degree at one of Berlin's universities or the capital's wider range of culture and leisure. Family reasons also play a part. We organise this return move with the same process and a fixed price after a survey.
The route: A2, A7 and the A27 to its end in Bremerhaven
From Moabit it is around 447 km: via the Berlin ring road onto the A2 as far as the Hanover-East interchange, on the A7 north to the Walsrode interchange and then on the A27 past Verden and Achim. Beyond the Bremen interchange the A27 runs right through Bremen – junctions Vahr, Horn/Lehe, Überseestadt, Bremen-Nord – leaves the state of Bremen at Ihlpohl, crosses Lower Saxony near Schwanewede, Hagen and Stotel and reaches Bremen territory again with Bremerhaven-Süd, -Wulsdorf and -Geestemünde. By lorry this takes approx. 6.5 hrs including the 45-minute break that is mandatory after four and a half hours of driving time (EU Regulation 561/2006).
On moving day we load the removal van at your old flat, secured with tension straps and blankets. After the drive come unloading and, on request, assembly; whether that is the same evening or the next morning, we decide at the survey. This way every move between Berlin and Bremerhaven runs in a structured way.
Arriving in Bremerhaven and returning to Berlin
Bremerhaven calls itself a port city (Seestadt) because this is where the Weser flows into the North Sea. The city is divided into two boroughs with nine districts, including Mitte, Lehe, Leherheide and Weddewarden in the north and Geestemünde, Wulsdorf and Surheide in the south. Many find the housing market more relaxed than in Berlin. The German Maritime Museum, the German Emigration Center, the Klimahaus and the fishing port shape the cityscape – at some of these addresses the lorry needs a parking restriction, which we apply for in advance.
Anyone planning the return move to Berlin will find a much tighter housing supply there, especially in districts such as Prenzlauer Berg, Kreuzberg or Charlottenburg. The search often takes longer, so early planning of the return move is important. We coordinate the moving date with your new Berlin flat.
What the 447 km to the port city cost
Bremerhaven is closer to Berlin than the cities on the Rhine and Ruhr – and that is reflected in the guide price. For the flat itself, the following serves as a rough guide, whether you are moving to Bremerhaven or back to Berlin:
| Flat | Cubic metres | from |
|---|---|---|
| One-room flat | 10–15 m³ | from €350 |
| Two-room flat | 20–25 m³ | from €590 |
| Three-room flat | 30–40 m³ | from €890 |
| Four-room flat | 45–60 m³ | from €1,290 |
| House | from 60 m³ | Quote after a survey |
For the drive via the A2, A7 and A27 – around 447 km – we set a guide price from €1,640. You receive your fixed price after a free survey.
Volume, old buildings, extras: price factors between the Spree and the Weser
The volume is decisive; the distance of around 447 km is built into the price. Added to this are the floor and lift, especially in old buildings without a lift, as well as furniture assembly and a parking restriction at the Bremerhaven address. If you take little with you, a part load is cheaper.

Your next step towards the Weser estuary
For the move to Bremerhaven as for the return move to Berlin, the order is: first the survey, then the fixed price, then the date. We come from Moabit, are liable under the German Commercial Code (HGB) and build the roughly 447 km into the price. Call us on 01625978461 – if your start date at the port or the institute is already fixed, let us know the date straight away.
