Moving from Berlin to Frankfurt am Main: 545 km to the Main

Removal company Berlin
From the Spree to the Main: moving Berlin – Frankfurt am Main
Via the A5 to the Main
A move from Berlin to Frankfurt am Main is a long motorway drive along a clear line: from our base at Stromstraße 21 in Moabit the lorry takes the A9 to the Hermsdorfer Kreuz, the A4 through Thuringia into Hesse and, via the Hattenbach interchange, the A5. After 109 km of the A5 – past Alsfeld, Gießen and Friedberg – it switches to the A661 into Frankfurt at the Bad Homburg interchange. That is around 545 km and approx. 8 hrs by removal lorry including a break. As a guide price we quote from €2,030; the binding figure is the fixed price after a survey.
Before the lorry sets off, the parking restriction zones have been applied for – in Berlin at the district office, in Frankfurt at the city's road traffic authority. For the long motorway route we secure furniture with straps and blankets. If moving in does not fit with moving out, we provide storage. We have no base in Frankfurt; so we check access, floor and parking beforehand using your photos. We are liable under the German Commercial Code (§ 451e HGB: €620 per cubic metre of cargo space); more protection is available on request through optional additional insurance.

Main and Spree: your questions
For work, study or family – and back to Berlin
A move from Berlin to Frankfurt am Main often has professional reasons: the city is home to the European Central Bank and the Deutsche Bundesbank, the Frankfurt Stock Exchange and Messe Frankfurt operate here, and Frankfurt Airport is an important transport hub. Others come to study at the Goethe University, founded in 1914 as a foundation university. We take care of packing, parking restriction zones, transport over around 545 km and furniture assembly.
The return move from Frankfurt am Main to Berlin often follows a change of job, graduation or the wish to live closer to family and friends. In Berlin many move into period buildings with a rear courtyard and side wing – buildings we see every day as a Berlin company. The same process with a fixed price after a survey applies to the outbound and return trips.
The route: A9, A4 and 109 km of the A5 to Bad Homburg
From Stromstraße 21 the lorry drives via the A100, AVUS (A115) and the Berlin ring road (A10) to the Potsdam interchange and takes the A9 southbound there. At the Hermsdorfer Kreuz it turns onto the A4, which leads past Erfurt and Eisenach into Hesse; at the Kirchheim and Hattenbach interchanges the A5 begins. It follows this for 109 km – past Alsfeld, the Reiskirchen interchange near Gießen, the Gambach interchange and Friedberg – to the Bad Homburg interchange. Finally the A661 takes it into Frankfurt's north; altogether that is around 545 km.
Removal lorries over 3.5 t are limited to 80 km/h on the motorway (§ 18 (5) StVO). That adds up to approx. 8 hrs of driving, including the 45-minute break after four and a half hours of driving time (EU Regulation 561/2006). With loading in Berlin and unloading on the Main it becomes a long day; whether two drivers can manage it or we spread it over two days is decided after the survey. The way back to Berlin is along the same route.
Arriving in Frankfurt am Main – and back in Berlin
With a good 760,000 inhabitants, Frankfurt am Main is the largest city in Hesse and the fifth-largest in Germany. The city is divided into 16 local districts; people live, for example, in Sachsenhausen, Bornheim, the Nordend, Bockenheim, the Westend or Höchst with its old town of around 400 half-timbered houses. Flats are in demand, so start your search early and apply for the parking restriction in good time. We come from Berlin, drive right up to your door and assemble the furniture.
The 16 local districts are split into 46 neighbourhoods; north of the Main, areas such as the Nordend drop steeply at the Bornheimer Hang, and in Alt-Sachsenhausen the lanes around the cider quarter are narrow. If you later head back to Berlin, we plan for rear courtyards and side wings there, with a furniture lift where necessary.

What determines the price of a move to the Main
The most important factor is the volume, because it sets the lorry and team size. On a Berlin–Frankfurt am Main long-distance move the roughly 545 km come on top. Then floors, lift and carrying distances count, as do extras such as furniture assembly or a parking restriction zone. If you are taking little, you save with a part load.
