Rhine Valley, Lake Walen, Schwyz: your move Berlin ↔ Schwyz

With customs declaration

Unsere Firma From Moabit to the foot of the Mythen: inventory list, form 18.44, two drivers or two days, and a fixed price.

For the move from Berlin to Schwyz the Beste Umzug Unternehmen team plans one of the longer Swiss routes: around 874 kilometres to the main town of the canton of Schwyz, through the St. Gallen Rhine Valley and along Lake Walen. At the border your household goods are declared as removal goods (Übersiedlungsgut), with form 18.44 and an inventory list. We protect furniture with blankets, sturdy boxes and straps so that antiques and the new wardrobe alike arrive intact. We set the fixed price in writing after the survey – a traffic jam on the A9 or waiting time at the customs office does not change it. On request we also plan packing, furniture assembly and interim storage, as well as the parking space for the lorry at both addresses.

Our lorry sets off from Moabit (Stromstraße 21) and only stops outside your building – in the town centre around the Dorfplatz, in Ibach, in Seewen near the station or in Rickenbach. How wide the access is, where the lorry may stand and how far things need to be carried, we clarify before the date. Approx. 13 h by lorry with breaks is more than one driver may drive in a day: either two drivers take turns, or the lorry stops overnight. Between 10 pm and 5 am heavy traffic over 3.5 t is in any case at rest in Switzerland. On request we also take care of packing, furniture assembly and collecting old furniture. We answer questions on 01625978461.

MAXIMUM CARE

One team from the Spree to the Mythen

Via Lindau and Lake Walen – there and back

We come from Berlin, not from Central Switzerland – so before moving day we clarify what your address in the canton of Schwyz requires: access, lorry size, parking space and carrying distances. For customs we go through the inventory list, form 18.44 and the proof of your change of residence with you, and we time the border crossing for the opening hours of the customs office for commercial goods. The fixed price is set after the survey and lists the toll, LSVA and a second driver or overnight stay individually; liability is under the HGB. This applies to the journey to Schwyz as well as to the return move from Schwyz to Berlin.

Packing service

Our packing service numbers every box; the same number appears on the inventory list that Swiss customs wants to see.

Office move

If a law firm or office moves to the cantonal capital, the office move lists furniture, files and computers individually for customs and sets up the workstations again after clearance.

Senior move

For the senior move to the foot of the Mythen we pack at both flats and fill in the customs list with you.

Furniture transport

In furniture transport, cupboards and heirlooms stand strapped down and wrapped in blankets, from the Moabit courtyard to Seewen or Ibach.

Move
planning Berlin ↔ Schwyz

Long-distance move Berlin–Schwyz and back

Besides the transport, before the move to Schwyz we clarify the points that a customs border and a long route bring with them: inventory list and form 18.44, proof of your change of residence, two drivers or an overnight stay, parking restriction via the Berlin district office and a parking space at your address in Schwyz. After moving in, you register with the municipality of Schwyz; the municipality states the deadline and documents. People returning to Berlin plan deregistration in Schwyz, giving notice on the tenancy and registration at the citizens' office (Bürgeramt) – we coordinate the moving dates with this.

Planning made safe and relaxed

Before the move to Schwyz: deregister in Berlin, customs list and form 18.44 ready, proof of the new residence, parking spaces at both buildings, the border on a working day, then registration with the municipality.

Furniture, boxes, transport routes

Boxes, furniture and assembly travel with the packing service and furniture transport via the A9, A7, A96, A13 and A3 right into your flat – with a smaller lorry if access in the town is narrow, and with a furniture lift if needed.

Costs, timing and special cases

The price is made up of cubic metres, floor, Austrian toll, LSVA, customs clearance and a change of driver or overnight stay; small households save with a part load, and a company move is set up after clearance.

Frequently asked questions: moving Berlin ↔ Schwyz

Questions about the route via Lake Walen

Customs, the route via the Rhine Valley, driving time and registration – Berlin–Schwyz and back.
As a guide price for the roughly 874 kilometres we quote from 3,360 euros. The binding fixed price depends on the volume, floor and additional services such as packing or furniture assembly, plus toll, LSVA, customs declaration and whether two drivers or an overnight stay are needed. After a short survey you receive a written quote for the whole route from Berlin to Schwyz.

To Schwyz and back: one contact for both directions

On a move from Berlin to Schwyz you transfer your residence to the main town of the canton of the same name – between Lake Lauerz and Lake Lucerne, beneath the two Mythen peaks – and thus to a country outside the EU customs union. Household goods that you have used for at least six months and will continue to use in Switzerland can be imported free of duty as removal goods: with a signed form 18.44, an inventory list and proof of the change of residence such as an employment or tenancy agreement. We handle the logistics from your Berlin flat to the new address in Schwyz, Ibach, Seewen or Rickenbach, including furniture assembly.

If you are going from Schwyz back to Berlin, the steps are reversed: on export the Swiss customs office receives a list of your household goods with the old and new address, and German customs the declaration as removal goods. It remains free of duty if you have lived outside the EU for at least twelve months and used the items for six months (Regulation (EC) 1186/2009). The fixed price is also available for this direction after the survey, and liability is under the HGB.

The route: around 874 km via the Rhine Valley and Lake Walen

We drive via the A9 to Nuremberg, the A6 to the Feuchtwangen/Crailsheim interchange, the A7 to Memmingen and the A96 to Lindau. Via the Austrian A14 we enter the Rhine Valley, cross the border and drive up the valley on the Swiss A13 (41 km) to Sargans. There we switch to the A3 (62 km) along the southern shore of Lake Walen towards Zurich as far as Pfäffikon SZ and drive the last kilometres on main road 8 via Biberbrugg, Rothenthurm and Sattel to Schwyz. In total around 874 km, approx. 13 h by lorry including breaks.

Lorries over 3.5 t may not exceed 80 km/h on German motorways (§ 18 para. 5 StVO), and after 4.5 hours at the wheel at the latest a 45-minute break follows. One day's driving time is not enough to reach Lake Lauerz: we use two drivers or stop overnight on this side of the border. In Switzerland the lorry stays parked between 10 pm and 5 am. For the return move we drive the same route in reverse.

Arriving in Schwyz or back in Berlin: localities and registration

The municipality of Schwyz consists of the main town and Ibach, Seewen and Rickenbach; Schwyz station on the Gotthard line is in Seewen. The town is known for the Museum of the Federal Charters with the Federal Charter of 1291 and for the Mythen above the valley. What counts for the move is your exact address: we check access, parking space for the lorry, floor and carrying distances in advance and coordinate moving day with the flat handover and the border crossing. After moving in, you register with the municipality; the municipality of Schwyz states the deadline and documents.

Anyone moving back from Schwyz to Berlin registers within two weeks at the citizens' office (Bürgeramt) – with ID and the landlord's confirmation. We apply for the parking restriction zone outside the Berlin door at the district office; the signs there must be up at least three full days beforehand. You hand over the flat in Schwyz as soon as everything is in the lorry; if there is a gap between moving out and moving in, your household goods go into storage.

Guide prices for the town of Schwyz

The table shows rough guide prices by flat size – for the move from Berlin to Schwyz as well as for the journey from Schwyz back to Berlin. We only calculate the fixed price after the survey:

Three rooms30–40 m³from €890
Four rooms45–60 m³from €1,290

For the roughly 874 km to the cantonal capital we set a guide price from €3,360, there and back. A14 toll, LSVA, customs clearance and a second driver or overnight stay appear in the quote as separate lines. The amount becomes binding after a free survey.

Cubic metres, floor, border: price factors for Schwyz

The volume has the greatest effect. On the Berlin–Schwyz route there are also the 874 kilometres, the toll on the A14 in Vorarlberg, the LSVA from the Rhine Valley, customs clearance and the second driver or hotel night. Then come the floor, an existing lift and extras such as furniture assembly or a cordoned-off parking space. If you are taking little, a part load is cheaper.
