There it goes west on the A4, past Erfurt and Eisenach to the Kirchheim junction in Hesse; after around four kilometres the A5 begins at the Hattenbach junction. On it the lorry drives around 109 km via Alsfeld and the Gambach interchange to the Bad Homburg interchange and then takes the A661: the last 15 km or so lead right through Frankfurt and over the Kaiserlei bridge directly into Offenbach.
Lorries over 3.5 t drive at a maximum of 80 km/h on the motorway (§ 18 (5) StVO), and after four and a half hours of driving time EU Regulation 561/2006 requires a 45-minute break; that is why we calculate approx. 8 hrs driving time including the break. With loading and unloading the day becomes long; whether one day is enough or we plan with two drivers or over two days, we decide at the survey. From Offenbach to Berlin we drive the same route back.
