Reutlingen beneath the Achalm: 676 km the last ones on the B312

Reutlingen lies in the heart of Baden-Württemberg on the Echaz, at the foot of the Swabian Jura (Schwäbische Alb); to the east rises the Achalm. With around 119,000 inhabitants it is the state's ninth-largest city – and the only one of these nine cities that belongs to a rural district. Anyone planning a move from Berlin to Reutlingen often has a job in the region or a university place at Reutlingen University, which began in 1855 as a weaving school. With the mandatory breaks it adds up to approx. 10.5 hrs. A single driver is not allowed to do that in one day; we therefore drive with two drivers or stay overnight. Reutlingen consists of the core city and twelve formerly independent municipalities, including Betzingen, Sondelfingen, Rommelsbach, Gönningen and Degerschlacht; Orschel-Hagen is a district of the core city. The landmark of the old town is the Gothic Marienkirche, completed in 1343. Since 2017 the Scheibengipfel tunnel has relieved the city centre of through traffic.
