Moving to Eisenstadt: 737 km via Prague Brno and Vienna

Berlin → Burgenland
Through the Czech Republic to Austria's smallest state capital
All the way to the Eisenstadt junction
We do not reach Burgenland via Bavaria but via the Czech Republic: the A13 to Dresden, the A17 into the Ore Mountains to the border, then the D8 to Prague and the D1 via Jihlava to Brno. At Mikulov we cross into Lower Austria, via Drasenhofen and the B7 to Vienna, on the South-East Tangent A23 and the South Motorway A2 to the Guntramsdorf junction and finally on the South-East Motorway A3 to Eisenstadt. We start at Stromstraße 21 in Moabit; we have no office in Burgenland. We set the lorry size and assembly during the survey, and then the fixed price is settled.
Almost ten hours at the wheel, around 11.5 hrs with breaks: that clearly exceeds what one driver may drive in a day under EU Regulation 561/2006, especially as loading in Berlin comes first. For Eisenstadt we therefore use two drivers who take turns, or the lorry stays overnight on the way and reaches the Leitha Mountains the following day; both options are priced in the quote. We are liable for damage under § 451e HGB at €620 per cubic metre, and on request we arrange more cover. We plan in a piano, a wine fridge or a fitted kitchen – just the same if you are moving from Eisenstadt back to Berlin.

Fixed price all the way to Burgenland
Toll in three countries, driver change and parking restriction in one sum
We quote a fixed price for Eisenstadt as soon as we have seen your household goods – in your Berlin flat or by video call; book a date on 01625978461. It includes the lorry toll in Germany, the Czech Republic and Austria, the two-driver team or the overnight stop and the parking restrictions at both addresses. If you later move back to Berlin, we calculate on the same basis.
Quotes are available individually depending on effort, availability of dates and the scope of services required.

All three countries belong to the EU, and household goods need no declaration there. The work lies in driving times, three toll systems and the drive through Vienna. Preparation
Berlin ↔ Eisenstadt
Before heading to Eisenstadt we discuss: the parking restriction in front of the Berlin flat (district office) and the stopping place at the address in Burgenland, dismantling and assembly of the kitchen and wardrobes, storage if the new flat is still occupied, and the appointment with the authorities – in Austria the new residence must be registered within three days using the registration form (Meldezettel), in Eisenstadt at the municipal authority (Magistrat) of the statutory city. On returning from Eisenstadt to Berlin, registration at the citizens' office (Bürgeramt) follows within two weeks.

What determines the price

Czech route, toll, statutory city
Eisenstadt: statutory city at the Leitha Mountains and capital of Burgenland
With just over 16,000 inhabitants, Eisenstadt is Austria's smallest state capital. It lies at the southern foot of the Leitha Mountains on a terrace that slopes gently down to the Wulka plain; vineyards surround the town on all sides. As a Freistadt it is equivalent to a statutory city and governs itself. Besides the centre, the villages of Kleinhöflein and St. Georgen am Leithagebirge belong to it. Anyone moving from Berlin to Eisenstadt crosses the Czech Republic and Austria but stays within the EU throughout – furniture and household goods travel without forms. What we need to know beforehand: whether the lorry can stop in front of your building, how many floors there are to carry and whether there is a lift.
We drive the way from Eisenstadt to Berlin with the same care: loading in Burgenland, through Vienna, via Brno and Prague to Dresden and on to Berlin, unloading at your new address. The price results from volume, floors, assembly and the roughly 737 kilometres, regardless of the direction. We apply for the parking restrictions at both ends.
The route: Ore Mountains, Bohemia, Moravia, Vienna
Loading takes place in Berlin early in the morning. Via the A100 and A113 we reach the A13, which takes us 151 km to Dresden; after a short stretch of the A4, the A17 (44 km) leads through the eastern Ore Mountains to the Czech border. In the Czech Republic we take the D8 to Prague, then the D1 via Jihlava to Brno. From there we head south via Mikulov to the Drasenhofen border crossing. In Lower Austria the Drasenhofen bypass and the B7 lead towards Vienna, where we reach the South-East Tangent A23, Austria's busiest road, via the S1 and S2. Via the South Motorway A2 we drive to the Guntramsdorf junction; the lorry covers the last 28 km on the South-East Motorway A3, which ends at the Eisenstadt junction on the S31. In total it is around 737 km, approx. 11.5 hrs with breaks.
Heavy lorries may drive at a maximum of 80 km/h on German motorways (§ 18 (5) StVO), and after at most 4.5 hours of driving time a 45-minute break is mandatory. Because the whole journey exceeds one driver's shift, two drivers take turns, or we stay overnight and unload the following day. We time the drive through Vienna outside rush hours where possible. On the move from Eisenstadt to Berlin we drive the same route in the opposite direction.
Esterházy, Oberberg, Unterberg: arriving in Eisenstadt
The townscape is shaped by Esterházy Palace, for whose princes Joseph Haydn worked as Kapellmeister from the 1760s; the Oberberg district is home to the Bergkirche and the Haydn Mausoleum, and Unterberg was the Jewish quarter. The historic town centre is partly a pedestrian zone, and the Wulka flows through the south of the town towards Lake Neusiedl. If your new home is near the pedestrian zone, in Kleinhöflein or in St. Georgen with its old wine-tavern courtyards, we check access, stopping place and carrying distances in advance. After moving in you have three days to register with the Magistrat: the registration form (Meldezettel) signed by the person providing your accommodation, and an ID; with ID Austria it can also be done online.
If you later return to Berlin, you deregister in Eisenstadt within three days before or after moving out and register in Berlin at the citizens' office (Bürgeramt) within two weeks. If the new flat on the Spree is still occupied, we store your belongings and deliver on the handover day. We apply for the parking restriction for unloading at the Berlin district office.
Cost range for Eisenstadt
For the move to Burgenland as for the way back to the Spree: you receive a written fixed price, and that is what you pay. These guide prices give a first impression:
| Flat size | Volume | Price from |
|---|---|---|
| 1-room flat | 10–15 m³ | from €350 |
| 2-room flat | 20–25 m³ | from €590 |
| 3-room flat | 30–40 m³ | from €890 |
| 4-room flat | 45–60 m³ | from €1,290 |
| House / villa | from 60 m³ | individual quote |
For the route to the Leitha Mountains (around 737 km) we estimate a guide price from €2,710, in both directions. We list the toll in three countries and the two-driver team or hotel night separately. The price is binding after your free survey.
What influences the price for Eisenstadt
The volume has the biggest impact. On the way to Eisenstadt there are also the roughly 737 kilometres, the toll in Germany, the Czech Republic and Austria, and two drivers or a night. Then there are the floor, the lift and extras such as furniture assembly or a parking restriction zone. For a few items, a part-load is the cheaper choice.
