A move from Berlin to Cottbus often has to do with the transformation of Lusatia: Deutsche Bahn opened an ICE maintenance depot in Cottbus in January 2024, the city is home to the Medical University of Lusatia – Carl Thiem, and BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg has its Cottbus campus here. The Cottbus-Nord opencast mine, closed in 2015, has been flooded to form the Cottbuser Ostsee lake. For us this means: everything from a room in a shared flat for the first semester to a family flat with a cellar, and we plan each load according to its volume.

Around 132 km through the Spreewald: route and process
From Stromstraße 21 in Moabit to Cottbus it is around 132 kilometres. The lorry takes the A100 and A113 to the Schönefeld interchange, drives 62 km on the A13 to the Spreewald interchange and then 31 km on the A15, the Spreewald motorway, to Cottbus. Removal lorries over 3.5 t may drive at most 80 km/h on the motorway (§ 18 para. 5 StVO), so we expect approx. 2 hrs of driving time instead of the shorter car time. A break under EU Regulation 561/2006 is only required after four and a half hours of driving time – so not on this route.
Whether the Cottbus-West, Cottbus-Süd or Cottbus-Ost exit is closest depends on your address. We load in Berlin, drive and unload in Cottbus on the same day; on request we assemble the furniture straight away. You know the fixed price before departure – a jam at the Schönefeld interchange or on the A13 does not change it.
Arriving in Cottbus – or back in Berlin
Cottbus lies on the Spree in Lower Lusatia; its Lower Sorbian name is Chóśebuz. Most people live in the districts of Sandow, Ströbitz, Schmellwitz, Spremberger Vorstadt and Sachsendorf – each with more than 10,000 inhabitants. Then there are Mitte, Madlow, Sielow and Branitz with Prince Pückler's Branitz Park. Whether a residential block with a lift or a house with a garden: we check access, floor and parking space before moving day so that the lorry stands in the right place.
Anyone moving from Cottbus back to Berlin will find a tight housing market, especially in the inner-city districts. In Berlin neighbourhoods a parking restriction zone is almost always part of it – we apply for it at the road traffic authority of the responsible district office.
