Moving from Berlin to Düsseldorf (North Rhine-Westphalia) – and back

Moving company Berlin
To the state capital: your move to Düsseldorf
Via Wuppertal to the Rhine
A move from Berlin to Düsseldorf covers around 558 kilometres from our base at Stromstraße 21 in Berlin-Moabit: first a long stretch on the A2, from the Kamener Kreuz south on the A1 and finally on the A46 through Wuppertal and down into the Rhine plain. We dismantle your furniture in Berlin, pack crockery, pictures and electronics for the long drive and reassemble everything in the new flat. We apply for the parking restriction zones at both addresses – in Berlin-Mitte just as in front of your building in Flingern or Pempelfort. That way your move remains a day you can plan.
We are liable for damage under the German Commercial Code (§ 451e HGB: €620 per cubic metre of loading space); for art, antiques or a piano, optional additional insurance is available on request. We set the fixed price after a free survey, on site or by video. For the drive we calculate approx. 8 hrs lorry driving time including the mandatory break; you add dismantling, assembly and packing as needed. Call us on 01625978461 – also for the way from Düsseldorf to Berlin.

Move
planning Berlin ↔ Düsseldorf
What goes with a move of 558 kilometres: packing, dismantling and assembly of furniture and, on request, storage if there are a few days between moving out in Berlin and moving in in Düsseldorf. Over this distance the packing service is particularly worthwhile, because the load spends many hours on the motorway. We dispose of bulky waste beforehand and clean the old flat on request. For high floors without a lift we plan a furniture lift – in Berlin as in Düsseldorf. And anyone taking only a few items saves with a part-load.

FAQ on the long-distance move in both directions
State capital on the Rhine: who moves to Düsseldorf
Düsseldorf is the state capital of North Rhine-Westphalia and has around 620,000 inhabitants. Many move here for a new job – in the state administration, retail or services – others because of family or to study at Heinrich Heine University. Cologne, Duisburg and the Ruhr are close by; the city is also known for its shopping boulevard, the Königsallee. For your move from Berlin to Düsseldorf we take care of all the logistics: parking restriction zone in Berlin, packing, the drive, parking restriction and furniture assembly in Düsseldorf.
The return move from Düsseldorf to Berlin is also common – because of a job in the capital, family or because a project in the Rhineland is ending. As a Berlin company we know the old buildings with rear courtyards and side wings that many returnees move into, and we plan the vehicle size and carrying distances for your new Berlin address. We calculate both directions in the same way.
The route: A2, A1 and finally the A46 through Wuppertal
Our moving team usually starts loading in Berlin early in the morning. From Stromstraße 21 we take the A100, the AVUS (A115) and the Berlin ring road (A10) to the Werder interchange and there join the A2 – past Magdeburg, Hanover and Bielefeld to the Kamener Kreuz. There we switch to the A1 heading south, via the Westhofen interchange to the Wuppertal-Nord interchange. The lorry drives the last kilometres on the A46: right across Wuppertal past the Sonnborn interchange, along Haan, over the Hilden interchange and down out of the Bergisches Land to Düsseldorf. In total it is around 558 kilometres.
Lorries over 3.5 t drive at no more than 80 km/h on the motorway (§ 18 (5) StVO); after four and a half hours of driving time a 45-minute break is mandatory (EU Regulation 561/2006). That gives approx. 8 hrs lorry driving time. Whether loading, the drive and unloading take place in one day with two drivers or spread over two days is decided during the survey. On the return move from Düsseldorf to Berlin we drive the same route back; the fixed price applies regardless of congestion.
Ten districts, two Rhine banks: arriving in Düsseldorf
Düsseldorf is divided into ten boroughs with 50 districts and lies mostly on the right bank of the Rhine. Anyone moving to Oberkassel lives on the left bank – a Rhine crossing is added there, which we factor into the schedule. Whether a flat in Bilk, Flingern, Pempelfort or Derendorf, or a house in the south in Benrath or in the north in Kaiserswerth: we come from Berlin and drive right to your door. We clarify access, floor and stopping place during the survey and apply for the parking restriction zone in advance. Look for your flat early and in parallel with planning the move – the Düsseldorf rent index (Mietspiegel) gives current rent levels.
On a return move to Berlin the destination is often an old building with a narrow staircase, side wing and rear courtyard, from Neukölln to Prenzlauer Berg, or a house in the green in Zehlendorf. Addresses like these are everyday work for us: we plan carrying distances, furniture lift and the parking restriction via the responsible district office in advance so that unloading goes smoothly.
