Frequently asked questions about moving in Fürth
Fürth's old town has narrow lanes and many historic buildings. We clarify during the survey whether a smaller vehicle and additional carriers are needed. A parking restriction is usually worthwhile so that the removal van can stand right in front of the door and long carrying distances are avoided.
Moving in Fürth: the process between the old town and the river meadows
As Praktik Transport und Umzüge we come from Berlin (Stromstraße 21) and take on moves in the Middle Franconian city by arrangement. Fürth lies directly on the border with Nuremberg, with which it has practically grown together – together with Erlangen, the two form the core of the Nuremberg conurbation. A defining geographical feature is the confluence of the Rednitz and Pegnitz to form the Regnitz north-west of the old town; after its coat of arms, Fürth is also known as the “Cloverleaf City” (Kleeblattstadt). For moves, the riverside location means that bridges and riverside roads help determine the route – we check them in advance.
With us, a move in Fürth follows clearly structured steps: first there is a free survey or digital assessment of your belongings, then we prepare a transparent fixed-price quote. On moving day our team takes care of professional packing, transport and the assembly and dismantling of furniture. Particularly relevant for Fürth is that many residential areas – for example around the baroque old town with its listed town houses – have narrow lanes and few access options for large lorries. We therefore plan the approach routes early, check possible parking restriction zones and coordinate the route with the traffic authority if necessary.
The traffic situation also plays a role: the A73 runs east of Fürth and meets the A3 at the Fürth/Erlangen motorway interchange. We use this infrastructure to organise your move smoothly – whether within Fürth, to Nuremberg or as a long-distance move to other federal states. Whether a private move, senior move or office move: we factor seasonal particularities such as the Michaeliskirchweih in September and October into the scheduling.
From the Südstadt to Vach: districts in Fürth
Fürth is divided into districts with very different character, which is crucial for planning a move in Fürth. The historic town centre lies east and south of the Rednitz and Pegnitz; the old-town quarter includes Gustavstraße, Hornschuchpromenade and Königswarterstraße. In the city centre, apartment buildings from the Gründerzeit and Art Nouveau periods dominate, while the Südstadt has more former workers' apartment buildings – often without a lift.
Vach and Stadeln lie north of the core city; Herboldshof was added from the municipality of Boxdorf in 1972. In Burgfarrnbach there is a neoclassical palace, and the city's highest point is also located there. Poppenreuth lies east of the historic core beyond the Pegnitz, Dambach west of the Südstadt and Unterfarrnbach in the west on the Farrnbach.
| District | Character | Relevance for the move |
|---|---|---|
| Old town/city centre | Historic buildings, pedestrian zone | Narrow streets, parking restriction zone often needed |
| Südstadt | Apartment buildings, dense development | Often no lift, long carrying distances |
| Hardhöhe | Residential area outside the city centre | Check building type and access in advance |
| Vach / Stadeln / Herboldshof | North of the core city | Clarify parking space and vehicle size in advance |
| Burgfarrnbach | Locality with a palace | Clarify access during the survey |
For each of these districts we determine vehicle size, team size and parking plan after the survey so that your move in Fürth runs without unnecessary waiting times.
Moving costs in Fürth: prices & sample calculation
The moving costs in Fürth depend on the size of the flat, floor, distance and required additional services such as packing or furniture assembly. As a guide, we work with fixed starting prices, which we adjust according to the individual effort – for example a missing lift in the Südstadt or narrow access in the old town. As a rule, the earlier you book, the more precisely we can calculate and the more likely it is that preferred dates can be realised in the busy moving period around the start of semester or the end of the month.
| Flat size | Price from | Typical examples |
|---|---|---|
| 1-room flat | €359 | Studio in the city centre, student room |
| 2-room flat | €594 | Period flat in Ronhof or Poppenreuth |
| 3-room flat | €899 | Family flat in Hardhöhe or Dambach |
| Long-distance move | from €4.25/km | Move to Munich, Berlin or abroad |
Additional cost factors may include a required parking restriction zone, a piano transport or an accompanying house clearance when moving out. For students and smaller moves we also offer the inexpensive part load, in which your belongings are carried together with other transports. All prices are transparent guide values – after a short survey or photo documentation, you receive a binding fixed-price quote from us without hidden costs, so that you can budget your move in Fürth reliably.
Parking restriction zone & parking when moving in Fürth
Especially in Fürth's densely built-up old town and in the Südstadt, sufficient parking on moving day is often in short supply. Narrow streets and dense development make manoeuvring large removal vehicles even more difficult. So that your removal van can stand right in front of the door, we set up an official parking restriction zone for you. The City of Fürth's road traffic office is responsible; according to the application form, you should allow about 14 days' lead time, and the signs must be in place four days (96 hours) before the date. We help you with the application and signage.
Our price list states 30 to 100 euros per day for a parking restriction zone, depending on the street section, duration and effort; according to the form, the city's fee for one moving day is 22.50 euros. In very busy areas such as around Gustavstraße and the town hall or near the main station, applying early is particularly important, as delivery traffic and public transport lines also need to be taken into account there. In residential areas such as Vach, Stadeln or Burgfarrnbach a parking restriction is not always necessary; if one is needed, the city's application deadline applies there in the same way.
The following points are particularly relevant for parking when moving in Fürth:
- According to the city, apply about 14 days before the moving date
- Taking market times, Kirchweih dates and roadworks into account
- Coordination with neighbours in very narrow streets
- Alternative stopping areas for listed buildings without direct access
We clarify during the survey which street sections are critical for your address so that waiting times on moving day can be avoided. This saves you stress and unnecessary extra trips when carrying your furniture.
From Fürth via the A73 and A3 – and to Berlin
In addition to moves within the city, we also handle moves from Fürth to other regions of Bavaria and Germany. The A73 runs east of Fürth and meets the A3 at the Fürth/Erlangen motorway interchange. This gives you direct access to neighbouring destinations such as Nuremberg or Erlangen, but also to more distant Bavarian cities such as Regensburg, Ingolstadt, Munich, Würzburg, Bamberg, Passau or Augsburg.
From our base at Stromstraße 21 it is around 456 road kilometres to Berlin, via the A73, the A3 and then the A9 heading north. Towards Frankfurt and Rhine-Main the A3 leads west, towards Regensburg east. According to our price list, we calculate long-distance moves from 4.25 euros per kilometre, depending on moving volume, floor and required staff. We also offer moves from Berlin to Fürth.
For smaller quantities, such as individual pieces of furniture or moving a room in a shared flat, we also offer the part load – your belongings are combined space-efficiently with other transports, which lowers costs especially on long routes. We additionally secure delicate instruments, as with piano transport, with special packaging. Whether a move within Bavaria or right across Germany: we plan the route, intermediate stops and loading order so that your belongings arrive at the destination safely and on time.
Moving services for Fürth at a glance
As a removal company from Berlin, we offer a wide range of services in Fürth, tailored to the city's different living situations. From a young shared flat in the Südstadt to a senior's flat in Burgfarrnbach – we adapt vehicle, team and process to the respective situation.
- Private move – complete household move including packing, transport and furniture assembly
- Office move – office and business moves with minimal downtime
- Senior move – considerate support when moving to a smaller flat or care facility

Especially in districts with listed buildings, such as Fürth's old town, we plan additional carrying help and protective material for narrow staircases and historic door frames. Our aim is to make every move in Fürth as efficient as possible – with clear communication, fixed prices and one contact person from the first enquiry to the last box.
Office and business moves in Fürth
Fürth is a business location with a long tradition and a broad mix of manufacturing, retail and service companies. As part of the Nuremberg Metropolitan Region, the city benefits from good transport links via the A73 and A3 and its proximity to Nuremberg Airport – ideal conditions for companies that depend on logistics and accessibility. An office move in Fürth makes special demands on planning and execution, as business processes should be interrupted as little as possible.
We take care of your complete office move – from dismantling and transporting office furniture and IT equipment to professional reassembly at the new location. We also take special requirements into account, such as sensitive server rooms, file logistics with data protection in mind or the relocation of workshops and storage areas, as found on industrial estates on the outskirts of Fürth.
The following services are part of our office move service in Fürth:
- Dismantling and assembly of office and contract furniture
- Safe transport of IT equipment and servers
- Labelling and inventory for structured reassembly
- Moves possible outside business hours or at weekends
- Setting up parking restriction zones for lorries at busy locations
For companies with several locations in the region – for example headquartered in Fürth with a branch in Nuremberg or Erlangen – we also coordinate parallel moves or branch relocations from a single source. This way we minimise downtime and ensure that your business is quickly fully operational again at the new location.
Student moves in Fürth: process & booking
Fürth itself has two higher education institutions and lies right next to Nuremberg with its universities, including the Nuremberg Institute of Technology (Technische Hochschule Nürnberg). At the main station and at the Fürth Klinikum station there are connections to the Nuremberg underground (U-Bahn) – for many students a reason to live in Fürth.
Our student move in Fürth is tailored specifically to smaller budgets and mostly manageable moving volumes. Typical are moves out of a furnished room or a small 1-room flat, often at the start or end of the semester when many tenancy agreements end. For this we offer fixed flat rates from 359 euros for smaller flats as well as the option of a part load if only a few pieces of furniture and boxes need to be transported.
The process for a student move in Fürth is straightforward with us:
- Short enquiry by phone, email or online form with moving volume and preferred date
- Non-binding fixed-price quote based on your details
- Flexible scheduling, including at short notice at the change of semester
- Transport including boxes, hand trucks and loading material
- Optional small transport via part load for particularly tight budgets
As many students live in buildings without a lift, for example in period buildings in the Südstadt, we plan sufficient staff for staircases. On request we also carry out a short-notice clearance when moving out so that the flat can be handed over to the landlord broom-clean. Booking is possible online or by phone at any time – even for very short-notice moving dates.
Applying for a parking restriction in Fürth: road traffic office and application details
In Fürth the road traffic office, road traffic authority department, is responsible for parking restrictions. The city uses a form „Antrag auf Anordnung verkehrsregelnder Maßnahmen nach § 45 StVO“ (application for traffic control measures under § 45 StVO). It expressly provides for a parking restriction with an exemption permit for parking a removal van (§ 46 StVO).
In the application you state:
- street and house numbers of the location (from/at/opposite),
- start and end and, if applicable, a time restriction, for example Monday to Friday from 7 am to 5 pm,
- the length of the desired zone,
- a responsible person who can also be reached outside working hours.
According to the notes on the form, the application can only be processed if all details are provided. Barrier material that meets the requirements of RSA-21 should be used. You can reach the authority on (0911) 974-2251 or by email at [email protected]; the street address is Schwabacher Straße 170, 90763 Fürth. According to the form, a parking restriction for a move costs 20 euros plus 2.50 euros expenses for one day, and 32.50 euros for two days; the city may send the order together with the invoice.
For moves, the form states a lead time of about 14 days; the traffic signs must be in place four days (96 hours) beforehand. We take the planning off your hands and agree the length and date, see parking restriction zone. More in the guide Moving to Fürth.
Fürth's old town, pedestrian zone and Kirchweih: planning access and re-registration
The City of Fürth describes its pedestrian zone as around 670 metres long; it connects, among other things, the town hall with the Fürther Freiheit and the southern Friedrichstraße. If you live there, you should clarify access for the removal van in advance, because lorries are generally only allowed in pedestrian zones with a permit and at certain times.
The calendar matters especially in autumn: during the Michaelis-Kirchweih, the city points out in its traffic information that access for residents and suppliers to Moststraße, Fürther Freiheit, Hallstraße and Königswarterstraße is only possible with an exemption permit from the road traffic office. Check the city's current information before fixing a moving date during this period.
After moving in, you have to register your residence. Since March 2024 the City of Fürth has offered digital residence registration; it is currently available for single adults without minor children. Afterwards, a short visit to the citizens' office is still necessary to have the address on your ID card updated. In all other cases, registration continues to take place at the citizens' office.
Fürth lies right next to Nuremberg and not far from Erlangen. Information on living locally can be found in the article Living in Fürth, and an overview of all locations on the Bavaria page.
