Calculating the Cost of a Shared Load

Calculating a shared load: volume, route and access in view
Understanding the bill
A shared load is the smart alternative to a complete removal when only a few pieces of furniture or boxes need to be moved. Your belongings use spare capacity on a long-distance move that is already planned, so the costs are split fairly between several customers. You only pay for the load space you actually need, not for a whole lorry. How much load space that is can be worked out quite precisely in cubic metres from a furniture list.
Having us calculate the cost of a shared load is straightforward and transparent, because we work with a fixed price without hidden extra costs. First we determine the exact volume of your belongings in cubic metres and match it against spare capacity on suitable routes. You then receive a binding fixed price, after a survey for larger quantities. We are liable for your belongings under the rules of the German Commercial Code (HGB); small valuables are best carried yourself.

Send your furniture list, get cubic metres and a price
Send us your furniture list or call us on 01625978461. We convert the list into cubic metres, check the route and access at both addresses and give you the fixed price for your shared load – after a survey for larger quantities. If you wish, we will also tell you what a dedicated transport would cost by comparison.

How we price your shared load
Always the same method
We are based in Berlin (Stromstraße 21, Moabit) and price every shared load using the same scheme: volume from the furniture list, route, floors and carrying distance, and the time window you want. This gives a fixed price that you receive in writing before booking. If the volume or access on collection day differs significantly from what was stated, we raise it before loading – not on the invoice.

How we support you
With a shared load, what matters most to us is reliability and a fair price based on the actual volume. That is why we show you openly which items make up the price.

What makes a shared load more or less expensive
The basis for calculating every shared load is the load space your belongings take up. On top of that come the route, the effort at both addresses and how much flexibility you allow on the date. A flat rate per cubic metre therefore tells you little – only the fixed price for your list and route is reliable.

Your
move – fully organised
Alongside the shared load, we offer many other moving services that can be combined to suit you. For a standard home move we recommend our private move with full service from packing to furniture assembly. If you are moving a longer distance, you will find detailed information on our long-distance moves, including route planning and consolidated transport options. You can see which cities and districts have their own pages on our locations page.

Questions about the cost calculation
How are shared load costs calculated?
Calculating the cost of a shared load always starts with determining the exact load volume in cubic metres. The basis is a detailed list of all the furniture and boxes to be moved, ideally with dimensions. The more precise this information, the more accurately the final fixed price can be calculated without any additional charges later.
We then match your volume against long-distance moves already planned on similar routes to find spare transport capacity. The better the route fits existing jobs, the cheaper the price for your shared load. How long this matching takes depends on the route and our current workload.
Which factors affect the price of a shared load?
Besides the pure load volume, the distance, flexibility on the delivery date and access at the start and destination also play an important role in pricing. If you are flexible and accept a wider time window for delivery, you usually benefit from noticeably better terms, because the route can be used more fully.
Special requirements such as furniture assembly, upper-floor flats without a lift or fragile items can also affect shared load costs. We take all these details into account in the quote, so that the agreed fixed price stands on delivery day.
This is what your move really costs
Small flats stay affordable: for a one-room flat you pay from €339, for a two-room flat from €589. Larger households cost correspondingly more – a three-room flat from €879, a four-room flat from €1,309. For houses and villas there is an individual quote, and if you are moving further away, long-distance moves cost from €3.85/km. Get no-obligation advice during a free survey.
The decisive cost factors in the move
- Volume of the household
- Distance (from €3.85/km)
- Floor without a lift
- Need for a parking restriction zone
Extras such as furniture assembly and shared load round off the offer.
