A Practice Move: What to Look Out For

Practice relocation
Practice move: six points to clarify before you book
What to look out for
In a practice move it pays to take a close look at the moving company's quote. Make sure that dismantling, transport, reassembly, the parking restriction zone (Halteverbotszone) and disposal are listed separately and that the price was arrived at after a survey – not from an estimate over the phone. Ask who packs the files, how they are secured in the lorry and who dismantles the equipment. And clarify liability: by law, a moving company is liable under § 451e HGB at €620 per cubic metre of load space.
For expensive treatment units or laboratory equipment this limit is often not enough; in that case additional insurance makes sense, and you should also check your practice contents insurance. The practice's own obligations remain outside the quote: relocating the statutory health insurance practice only with the approval of the admissions committee, and the X-ray notification two weeks before operation starts. How we move businesses is described under office move.

A quote with every item
Fixed price only after the survey
Call us on 01625978461. We survey the practice, record furniture, files and boxes and then give you a fixed price in which each service is listed as a separate item. That way you can compare quotes. The survey is free and non-binding; afterwards you can decide at your leisure.
Quotes available individually based on workload, scheduling and the desired scope of services.

How to check a quote for a practice move
Four questions for any moving company
We are based in Berlin (Stromstraße 21) and, for a practice move, handle furniture, file containers and boxes. Before you hire us or another company, four questions should be answered: what is in the quote, who is liable for what, who packs the files and who takes care of the equipment? We are liable for your goods under § 451e HGB at €620 per cubic metre; additional insurance is available. If you leave these four questions open, the surprise usually only comes on moving day – or when reporting damage.

Six points that are often overlooked
Besides the quote and liability, a practice move has points that only become obvious when it is too late. You should tick off these six before the date. Most of them take just a phone call or a look at the lease.

Closure days

Before
booking, on moving day, afterwards
This guide shows what to look out for in a practice move – before booking, on moving day and afterwards. If you mainly want to compare prices, the article Practice move at a fixed price will help. For the practice owner's own home move there is the private move, and for routes to other cities long-distance moves. The article on typical pitfalls when moving a practice also shows which mistakes most often cost practices time.

Questions: what to look out for in a practice move?
What a good process for a practice move includes
A good process starts with a survey of the old and new premises, recording furniture, filing cabinets, boxes, floor, lift and access. This should be followed by a written quote with all items and a date that fits the approval, the handover and the equipment manufacturers' appointments.
On moving day, files should travel separately and sealed, furniture should be labelled by room number, and equipment should only be dismantled by the manufacturer's service. On arrival, make sure every file container is ticked off on the list before the moving company leaves. It is best to note any visible damage straight away.
Costs and price factors for a practice move
The cost of a practice move depends on the number of rooms, filing cabinets, floor, lift, access and distance. Make sure the fixed price is set after a survey and includes all items: dismantling, transport, reassembly, the parking restriction zone and, if applicable, disposal.
The moving company's price does not usually include the work of the equipment manufacturer, IT provider and expert; these firms invoice separately. Also ask what additional insurance for expensive equipment costs, and only compare quotes if they include the same services.
Moving costs at a glance
Whether a small flat or a large house – we have the right price for every move. For a house or villa we prepare an individual quote, a four-room flat costs from €1,269, a three-room flat from €915, a two-room flat from €579 and a one-room flat just from €349. For long-distance moves we charge from €4.15/km. Arrange your free survey now.
Price factors of a move at a glance
The price of your move depends largely on the volume of your household goods, the distance (from €4.15/km) and the floor and whether there is a lift. A required parking restriction zone can also affect the total cost. Additional services such as furniture assembly or a shared load are charged separately.
