Is the fixed price really binding?

Yes, the fixed price is recorded in writing in the quote and applies to the services described there. It is based on the survey or your inventory list. If considerably more belongings or an extra service are added on moving day, we discuss this with you beforehand – the price of your private move does not change without your consent.

What is included in the fixed price for a private move?

The fixed price usually includes transport, loading and unloading and the staff. Depending on the agreement, packing material, dismantling and reassembly of furniture or a no-parking zone are added. We are liable under the German Commercial Code (HGB) (€620 per m³); additional insurance for valuable items is listed separately in the quote for your private move on request.

How far in advance should I plan my private move?

Ideally, plan your private move at least four to six weeks in advance; a no-parking zone in Berlin needs a few weeks' lead time. For long-distance moves or dates at the end of the month and in the summer holidays, booking even earlier is advisable. That way you secure your preferred date.

Does your company also offer a packing service?

What happens if something is damaged during the move?

For damage during the transport we are liable under the German Commercial Code (HGB), by law up to €620 per cubic metre (§ 451e HGB). Report visible damage no later than the day after delivery and hidden damage within 14 days (§ 451f HGB). For valuable items we recommend additional insurance for your private move .

Can I also book my private move at short notice?

Are there differences between a private move and a long-distance move?

A private move usually means changing flats within the same city or region, while a long-distance move covers greater distances, for example to another federal state or country. The costs of a private move depend on several factors: flat size and volume, distance, floor, lift and the desired scope of service. That way you know in advance what your move costs and can compare quotes item by item.

There is no reliable flat rate for every private move, because volume, floor and route vary widely. A move within the city is usually cheaper than a long-distance move to another region. Additional services such as packing, furniture assembly or storage are listed separately in the quote. Tip: as a household-related service, the labour costs reduce your income tax by 20%.

What you can rely on with a private move

Clearly calculated, carefully carried

A private move is a matter of trust – after all, it concerns your home and your personal belongings. We wrap furniture carefully, protect the stairwell and floors and plan staff and vehicle to suit the flat. We state the price as a fixed price after a survey; for damage we are liable under the German Commercial Code (HGB) (§ 451e: €620 per m³), and additional insurance is available on request. We are based in Berlin (Stromstraße 21) and travel nationwide.

Packing service

Packing yourself saves working time; having it done saves nerves. Both appear as a separate item in the quote – with or without a packing service.

Dismantling and reassembly

We dismantle wardrobes, beds and shelves and reassemble them in the new flat. How much assembly work is needed has a noticeable effect on the price.

Carrying distances

The floor, the lift and the distance from the lorry to the front door decide how many helpers are needed. A no-parking zone shortens the distance during the move.

Invoice for your tax return

You receive an invoice that shows the labour costs. If paid by bank transfer rather than in cash, 20% of them can be deducted from your tax under § 35a EStG.

What the price is made up of

Every private move consists of the same building blocks: amount, carrying distances, route and additional services. Knowing them lets you compare quotes and save where it really makes a difference.

Volume

The more cubic metres of furniture and boxes, the bigger the vehicle and team. Sorting things out beforehand directly reduces the biggest cost block of the move.

Floor and lift

Every floor without a lift adds carrying time – at both addresses. A furniture lift can be worthwhile on high floors.

Route

Within the city, working time is what counts most; over long distances it is the drive. For a long-distance move, the per-kilometre price from the price list applies.

Date

Month-ends, weekends and the summer holidays are in demand. If you move during the week or in the middle of the month, you will find a date more easily.

Extra services

Packing service, assembly, no-parking zone or storage are listed separately in the quote. That way you can see what each service contributes to the total price.

Liability

Statutory liability is €620 per cubic metre. For expensive furniture or art, additional insurance belongs in the calculation.

A small household as a part load

Low volume, flexible date

A part load saves costs because empty runs are avoided: the furniture, boxes and appliances of a small household travel along on a route that is planned anyway. Well suited to single flats, furnished rooms or follow-up deliveries – with an agreed collection window and secured cargo. If you need a fixed day, it is better to book a transport of your own.

There is no reliable average price, because volume, floor, carrying distances and distance vary widely. The starting prices by number of rooms in our price list serve as a guide; a small move within the city is cheaper than an extensive long-distance move. At “Beste Umzug Unternehmen” you receive a fixed price for your private move after the survey.

How the quote for your private move is put together

A private move starts with a free survey or phone consultation, in which we record the volume, floors, access and your wishes. You then receive a quote with a fixed price, in which transport, staff and every additional service are listed separately.

On moving day we pack on request, carry and transport your belongings and reassemble the furniture in the new flat. You only book additional services such as a no-parking zone, assembly or the storage of furniture until the move-in date if you need them.

Saving money and tax on a private move

If you want to save on a private move, plan early and compare quotes item by item – ideally four to six weeks in advance. Boxes you pack yourself and household goods sorted out beforehand noticeably reduce the costs.

Weekday dates are often easier to get than weekends. And: you can deduct 20% of the removal firm's labour costs from your tax as a household-related service (§ 35a EStG, up to €4,000 a year) if you have an invoice and pay by bank transfer. More about our private move services.

Starting prices by number of rooms

We rely on clarity instead of small print. That is why: 1-room moves from €344, 2-room moves from €584, 3-room moves from €889, 4-room moves from €1,344. A house or villa can hardly be priced at a flat rate, which is why you receive an individual quote here. For a long-distance move we charge from €3.80 per kilometre driven. Your exact price is fixed after a free survey.

How is the price of your private move made up?

As a rule: the larger the volume of your household and the greater the distance (from €3.80/km), the higher the price. The floor, the lift and any required no-parking zone are factored in. Additional services such as furniture assembly or a part load complement the quote.
