Organising an IT Relocation: Moving Stress-free

Friday to Monday
Organising an IT move: the timetable from Friday to Monday
Move stress-free
Most companies want to schedule their IT move so that work can resume on Monday. That works if the weekend is organised as a timetable: on Friday your IT team backs up the data and shuts down the systems, on Saturday everything is packed and transported, and on Sunday your IT team connects and tests. For Monday you need a plan B – such as working from home or a mobile hotspot – in case the line at the new site is not yet working or a device refuses to cooperate. If you settle these points in advance, you can move without a rush.
We are there for the Saturday: we are based in Berlin (Stromstraße 21), pad computers and monitors, pack small parts into labelled boxes, dismantle desks and reassemble them at the destination, and transport everything in the agreed order. We give you the fixed price after the survey; whether a weekend surcharge applies is stated in the quote. If your company is moving to another city, you will find more under long-distance moves.

Four days, four tasks
The weekend timetable
A stress-free IT move has one main task and one person responsible for each day. Your IT team takes on Friday and Sunday – backup, shutting down, connecting, testing. Saturday belongs to the transport: we pad, pack, carry and reassemble the office furniture. We are liable for your belongings under the HGB. Monday begins with a short check at every workstation and a plan B in case anything is missing. We agree this process with you during the survey.
Friday: back up
Saturday: transport
Sunday: connect
Monday: plan B ready
Six rules for a calm move
Stress in an IT move arises when decisions have to be made at the weekend that could have been made earlier. These six rules bring them forward.
One contact person per side
Inform staff early
Let customers know
Check the line in advance
Number the spots
Plan in a buffer
Little technology, a different city?

From
planning to assembly
An IT move usually also includes furniture, files and workstations. If the new premises are not quite ready on the moving weekend, furniture or archive boxes can go into storage temporarily and follow later. Companies often combine the IT move with the classic office move on one date, so that desk and technology are ready at the same time on Monday. Anyone relocating their home office will also find support for the technology with our private move.

Questions about organisation
The process from Friday to Monday
Friday: staff clear their desks, and your IT team creates the last backup, shuts down servers and workstations after close of business and disconnects them. Cables and devices carry the same number as their destination spot. Saturday: we pad and pack the technology, dismantle desks, load in the agreed order and place everything at the numbered spots at the destination.
Sunday: your IT team connects the network, servers and workstations and tests them. In winter, devices should reach room temperature before they are switched on. Monday: a short check at every desk – and the plan B in case the line is still missing.
Costs and time windows at the weekend
The costs of an IT move depend on the number of devices, the floor and lift, the distance and the time window. Whether a weekend date costs more is stated in the quote in advance – we give you the fixed price after the survey.
Weigh this against what a working day without functioning IT costs: for many companies, the weekend is therefore the calmer choice. With a move to another city, the driving time comes on top – then Friday evening may already be the loading day.
