Planning a Move with Assembly: Step by Step

Step by step
Planning a move with assembly: five steps, one list, one moving day
In five steps
A move with assembly can be broken down into five steps: recording your furniture and measurements, survey and fixed price, setting dates, moving day itself and the final check afterwards. Each step builds on the previous one – if you start with moving day, you notice too late that the wardrobe does not fit into the alcove or the cooker has no connection appointment.
For the first three steps you mainly need time and a folding rule; we take care of step four – dismantling, labelling, transport and reassembly according to your layout plan. Legally, the agreed dismantling and reassembly is one of the removal company's duties (§ 451a HGB), and liability for damage is governed by § 451e HGB. Step five, the final check, is your job again: check, report damage in time, re-register. What we take on is on the page move with assembly.

Step two: request a fixed price
Fixed price after a survey – based on your furniture list
Once step one is done – furniture list and layout plan – arrange a survey. We then quote a fixed price for your move with assembly in which dismantling, transport, reassembly and any wall fittings are listed. Phone: 01625978461.
Quotes available individually based on workload, scheduling and the desired scope of services.

The first four steps at a glance
From the list to reassembly
We are based in Berlin-Moabit (Stromstraße 21) and, for a move with assembly, take care of dismantling, transport and reassembly. The steps before determine how calm moving day will be: the more precise the list, measurements and dates, the less has to be decided on the day itself. We are liable for damage to your belongings under § 451e HGB at €620 per cubic metre of cargo space; for expensive furniture, additional insurance makes sense.
1. Furniture and measurements
2. Survey and price
3. Set the dates
4. Moving day
Step five: after reassembly
When the team leaves, the move with assembly is not quite finished yet. These six points belong to the last step – some with statutory deadlines that are easy to miss.
Walk-through
Visible damage
Have the cooker connected
Re-registering
Hand over the old flat
Keep the invoice
Small move? A shared load as a shortcut
If step one produces only a short list – a wardrobe, a bed, a few boxes – a shared load can be cheaper than a lorry of your own. Your belongings travel on the same tour as other orders; in return there is a time window instead of a fixed appointment.

What
helps at each step
There are in-depth articles on every step of a move with assembly: how individual pieces of furniture are taken apart is shown in Dismantling and assembling furniture; the parking restriction is explained in the guide to the parking restriction zone; deadlines after moving in are summarised in Re-registering after the move. If you only need assembly, book furniture assembly.

Frequent questions
Steps one to three: list, price, dates
It all starts with an inventory. Go through the flat and note every larger piece of furniture: is it coming along, does it need to be taken apart, should it go on the wall? In the new flat, measure alcoves, door widths and the height under sloping ceilings, and draw a layout plan. Even at this stage you often notice that a wardrobe will not fit and is better sold.
With this list comes step two: the survey. We then quote a fixed price in which dismantling, transport, reassembly and wall fittings are listed. In step three you set the dates – moving day, parking restriction outside both buildings, a qualified electrician for the cooker and hob, for gas a registered installation company, and the handover of the old flat. If you rent, allow for the statutory notice period of three months (§ 573c BGB).
Steps four and five: moving day and the final check
On moving day we first dismantle large, rarely used furniture, and beds and the children's room last. Screws and fittings go into labelled bags on the relevant piece of furniture. In the new flat the order is reversed: beds first, then wardrobes, the kitchen as soon as the connection appointment is fixed, wall fittings at the end.
Step five is the final check. Check doors, drawers and tip-over protection with the team. Visible damage must be reported no later than the day after delivery, hidden damage within 14 days (§ 451f HGB). Within two weeks of moving in you register with the registration office (§ 17 BMG); for this you need the landlord confirmation (Wohnungsgeberbestätigung).
Clear prices for your move
We value clear prices: 1 room from €344, 2 rooms from €579, 3 rooms from €894, 4 rooms from €1,299. For a house or a villa there is an individual quote, tailored to your needs. For long-distance moves we charge from €4.15/km. Arrange your free survey now and receive a tailor-made quote.
What goes into the moving price?
The price takes into account the volume, the distance (from €4.15/km), the floor and whether there is a lift. A required parking restriction zone is also taken into account. Additional options such as furniture assembly and a shared load are also possible.
