Organising a Move with Assembly: Moving Stress-free

Organisation
Moving with assembly: order and roles for a calm moving day
Move stress-free
Stress during a move with assembly rarely comes from too few movers, but from the wrong order: the bed is already taken apart while the wardrobe is still full; the kitchen sits right at the front of the lorry, even though it is needed first in the new flat. If you decide beforehand what is dismantled first, what is loaded last and what is reassembled first, you will have a liveable home in the evening instead of a hallway full of parts.
The rule of thumb is: whatever is needed first in the new flat goes into the lorry last – usually beds, the children's room and the box with the essentials. Large wardrobes and rarely used furniture are taken apart and loaded first. On top of that there are two roles you should fill yourself: one person in the old flat who says what comes along, and one in the new flat who holds the layout plan. What we take on for dismantling and reassembly is on the page move with assembly.

Agree the process together
Fixed price after a survey – with the order for moving day
During the survey we decide which furniture will be taken apart, in which order we dismantle and what stands first in the new flat. We then quote a fixed price for the move with assembly with this list of services. That way you know beforehand how long the day will take and when the new flat will be liveable. Phone: 01625978461.
Quotes available individually based on workload, scheduling and the desired scope of services.

Who does what on moving day
Four tasks, four responsibilities
We are based in Berlin-Moabit (Stromstraße 21) and, for a move with assembly, take care of dismantling, loading, transport and reassembly. To keep the day calm, it should be clear beforehand who makes which decision – that saves follow-up questions and waiting time. Four areas of responsibility have proved their worth: you in the old flat, you or a second person in the new flat, our assembly team and – for the kitchen – a qualified specialist with their own appointment. We are liable for damage to your belongings under § 451e HGB at €620 per cubic metre of cargo space; for expensive furniture, additional insurance makes sense.

Six rules for the order
With these rules, a move with assembly runs so that the most important furniture is standing by the evening and nobody has to sleep in the hallway between parts. They apply to a one-room flat just as much as to a house with a garden.
Full wardrobes last? No
Large and rarely used first
Load beds last
Kitchen with an appointment
Wall fittings at the end
Check before saying goodbye
Have individual pieces of furniture brought later?
Not everything has to move in one day: a cellar cupboard or furniture that will only fit after a renovation can follow later with a shared load – on a tour with other orders, within a time window.

Before,
on the day, afterwards
A move with assembly is organised in three phases: preparation with a layout plan and appointments, moving day with a fixed order, and the check afterwards. How to get the parking restriction outside the building is explained in the guide to the parking restriction zone; how to take individual pieces of furniture apart is covered in the article Dismantling and assembling furniture. If you only need assembly, furniture assembly can help.

Frequent questions
The order for dismantling and loading
We first take apart what takes longest and is needed latest: wall units, guest beds, shelves from the cellar and storeroom. These parts go into the lorry first and stand at the back. Then come the living room and kitchen. Beds and the children's room stay standing until last, so that children have a quiet room until the end – they go into the lorry last and come out first in the new flat.
It is important that wardrobes are empty before moving day and that furniture not coming along is clearly marked. While taking things apart, we collect screws and fittings in labelled bags on the relevant piece of furniture, so that reassembly in the new flat can begin without searching.
The order for reassembly
In the new flat we first set up the beds so that the first night is secured, then wardrobes and the children's room. The kitchen follows as soon as it is clear when the cooker and hob will be connected by a qualified electrician. Wall fittings come at the end, once the furniture is in place and it is clear where to drill.
Finally we walk through all the rooms with you and check doors, drawers and the tip-over protection on tall wardrobes. We put boxes in the rooms written on their labels – unpacking is then done at your leisure.
