JUST ONE ROOM

Partial move in the shared flat

One goes, the shared flat stays – how the partial move works

Small and tidy

Unsere Firma Partial move from a shared flat: clear out one room, separate shared items, use a part load or storage.

Often it is not the whole shared flat that moves, but just one person: studies finished, a new job, a flat of their own. Then the move is small but tricky – because everything that is shared stays in the flat. We calculate according to the actual volume of that one room – not by gut feeling – and give you a fixed price after the survey. Shared furniture that stays is not counted. You will find more about our services under Private move.

In a partial move, a clean separation is what matters most: what belongs to the person leaving, and what stays for the shared flat? Every box and every piece of furniture gets a name so that nothing wrong ends up in the lorry. Your belongings are covered by liability under the German Commercial Code (HGB) (§ 451e: €620 per m³), and additional insurance is available on request for laptops or instruments. That way the shared flat stays complete after the move-out – and the person leaving has everything with them. If a shared item goes with them against a transfer fee, note it on the list beforehand so that nobody is surprised on moving day.

Request a partial move for one room

Fixed price after a survey

Just call us on 01625978461 or request a quote online for your partial move. We take into account the floor, the size of the room and whether furniture stays in the shared flat. CONSIDERATION FOR THOSE WHO STAY

How we carry out the partial move

One room, little commotion

In a partial move, the others carry on living in the flat – which is why we work quickly and only in the room of the person leaving. Shared rooms stay untouched unless you have agreed otherwise. For a single room, a smaller vehicle or a part load is often enough. We give you the fixed price after the survey; your belongings are covered by liability under the HGB, and additional insurance is available on request. If the new flat is not yet free, storage can bridge the gap. We are based in Berlin (Stromstraße 21) and drive nationwide.

Just the one room

We only clear the room of the person leaving; the shared flat's kitchen, bathroom and living room stay as they are.

Clear labelling

Whatever goes gets a sticker; whatever stays is not touched – so no shared saucepan ends up in a moving box.

Small vehicle

For one room, a smaller van is usually enough, which finds space in the street more easily than a large lorry.

Storage

If the new flat is not yet free, the furniture of the person leaving can be kept temporarily in our storage.
PARTIAL MOVE IN SIX STEPS

How one person moves out without the shared flat suffering

In a partial move from a shared flat, one flatmate moves out and the others stay. These six steps ensure that the person leaving has everything with them, those who stay are hardly disturbed and the shared flat can carry on complete afterwards – with no open questions about the deposit and transfer fee.

01

Separate personal and shared items

A list shows what belongs to the person leaving, what is shared and which items the shared flat buys from them.
02

Agree the date with those who stay

Agree the time with those who stay so that the move-out does not clash with the others' exams or working from home.
03

Keep the volume small

Sell, give away or leave to the shared flat whatever is not coming along – a small move is a cheap move.
04

The right type of transport

One room often fits into a part load or a small vehicle; for just a few items, a furniture taxi is enough.
05

Interim storage

If there is a gap between move-out and move-in, storage bridges the time instead of boxes standing in the shared flat's hallway.
06

Hand over the room

Clean the empty room, hand in the keys against a signature, and record the deposit share and meter readings in writing.
FOR A SINGLE ROOM

Part load for the partial move

One room, shared loading space

For a partial move with few belongings, a part load is often the cheapest solution. Your belongings travel together with other orders on the same route, which noticeably reduces costs – ideal if the date is a little flexible.

PARTIAL MOVE

What
is different about a partial move

Small move, clear boundaries

In a partial move from a shared flat, the transport is small but the coordination is important: what belongs to the person leaving, what stays, and when will the move disturb the others least? Anyone taking only a little often travels more cheaply with a part load – more on this in the article Partial move by part load. If the person leaving is moving to another city, you will find the process and costs under Long-distance moves; if the new flat is not yet free, storage helps.

Separating personal from shared items

A list with the owner and destination of every item prevents the shared toaster from leaving or your own shelf from staying behind during a partial move – and it is also the basis for the quote.

Moving out quickly and quietly

With a packing service for the one room and swift furniture transport, the move-out is often done in a few hours, and the flatmates can carry on with their daily routine almost undisturbed.

The right small solution

For one room, a part load is often enough, and for single items a furniture taxi. If there is a gap between move-out and move-in, storage bridges the time.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions on a partial move from a shared flat

Answers on splitting costs, shared furniture, storage, insurance and handing over the room in a partial move.
In a partial move, the person moving out usually pays, because it is their belongings. If several people move out, splitting by moving volume is usually fairer than by head. We give you the fixed price after the survey; the furniture list from the survey shows who is taking how much. That way there are no misunderstandings within the shared flat from the start.

Who pays for the partial move – and what stays in the shared flat?

In a partial move, it is usually the person moving out who pays – after all, it is their belongings. The trickier question is what goes with them: furniture bought jointly, such as the kitchen table or sofa, often stays in the shared flat, and the person leaving receives a transfer fee for their share. Put this in writing before the moving date is set.

The less goes, the smaller the partial move. We give you the fixed price after the survey – only for the volume that is actually moving out. Shared items that stay are not even included in the plan, and the shared flat does not have to discuss splitting moving costs.

Fitting the partial move into daily life in the shared flat

In a partial move, only one flatmate leaves the flat and the rest stay. For this case, we plan smaller moving appointments that fit into daily life in the shared flat – agreed with those who stay so that the commotion is kept short.

What matters is a clear agreement on the deposit share, the successor and the handover of the room so that the rest of the shared flat can carry on smoothly. If the new flat is not yet ready to move into, the furniture can be kept temporarily in our storage.

What a partial move costs

  • For 1 room, costs start at €349
  • For 2 rooms at €579
  • For 3 rooms at €889
  • For 4 rooms at €1,344
  • For a house or villa we prepare an individual quote
  • For long-distance moves we charge from €4.25/km

What determines the price for a single room

The moving price depends mainly on the volume of your household goods and the distance between your old and new home – the route is charged from €4.25/km. The floor, whether there is a lift and a required no-parking zone also affect the price. Additional services such as furniture assembly or a part load can also influence the final price.
