Planning a move on your own: the six-week schedule

Singles guide · Part 10
Six weeks, one plan, no forgotten deadline
Planning backwards
If you move on your own, there is nobody to remind you of deadlines. A schedule that counts backwards from moving day helps: six weeks before, the moving company is booked and the electricity contract is cancelled; four weeks before, the application for the parking restriction zone is under way; one week before, mail forwarding is booked. Giving notice on the old flat usually comes even earlier – tenants have a notice period of three months. You can find more about our private move under private move.
Our team takes over the part that cannot be postponed: packing, transport and furniture assembly on moving day. We quote the fixed price after the survey so that you can plan early with fixed costs. For the transport we are liable under the German Commercial Code (HGB). We adapt dates to your everyday life; at short notice too, if capacity is available. This leaves you time for deadlines and authorities.

Six weeks before: secure the date
Survey first, fixed price afterwards
The first item in the schedule is the appointment with us. Call on 01625978461 or request a quote online. After the survey you receive the fixed price and can plan all further deadlines around that day. Destinations with their own page can be found in the locations overview.
Offers available individually, depending on effort, scheduling and the scope of services required.

What we take over in your schedule
Moving day is fixed
A schedule stands or falls with moving day. That is why we fix the date and scope early: after the survey you receive the fixed price and know when we are coming. On request, we apply for the parking restriction zone and deliver boxes in advance so that you can pack week by week. We are based in Berlin (Stromstraße 21) and operate nationwide – from a one-room flat to a larger home.

This schedule counts backwards from moving day. It assumes that notice on the old flat has already been given on time – the notice period for tenants is three months (§ 573c BGB).

A
schedule for people moving alone
Part 10 is about the schedule: when do you cancel electricity and internet, when do you apply for the parking restriction zone, when do you book mail forwarding, and by when do you have to register? We count backwards from moving day and give the statutory deadlines. This plan also applies to a long-distance move to another city, only with two authorities for the parking restriction. You can find more about moves between regions under long-distance moves.

Frequently asked questions about the schedule for a single person's move
Decluttering as the first stage
As a single person, you have the chance to use your move as a fresh start and declutter consistently. Plan fixed dates for this in the schedule, ideally three to four weeks before the move – then there is time to sell furniture or book a bulky waste collection. Take a critical look at clothes, books and decorations and only take the essentials with you.
A minimalist approach saves space in the removal van and lowers the costs of your private move. Fewer boxes mean less effort when packing and unpacking, which is a big advantage in the last days before the date. Donate items you no longer need or sell them online to free up budget for the new flat.
The six-week plan for people moving alone
Without family support, well-thought-out time planning is particularly important. Start six weeks before the moving date by booking the moving company and cancelling the electricity contract, followed by the parking restriction, internet, decluttering and packing. A checklist with all the deadlines helps to make sure nothing is forgotten – how to plan backwards is explained in the article Planning a move backwards.
Plan moving day so that there is enough time left for the unexpected. Our team arrives within a fixed time window so that your moving day runs predictably. After moving in, you have two weeks for registration – and energy to settle into your new surroundings.
What a move costs – early in the plan
Transparency is important to us. That is why you will find our guide prices here: 1-room flat from €339, 2-room flat from €579, 3-room flat from €909, 4-room flat from €1,299. For a house or villa you always receive an individual quote tailored to your needs. Long-distance moves are no problem either – here we calculate from €3.90 per kilometre. The calculation is most accurate with a free survey on site.
What counts in the price: volume, distance, floor
The decisive factors for the price are above all volume and distance, the latter calculated from €3.90/km. The floor, a lift and a parking restriction zone also play an important role. We are happy to combine your move with furniture assembly or a shared load.
