Moving day as a single: schedule first-night box and handover

Singles' guide · Part 7
One day, two flats, one plan
Managing moving day
On the day of a single move, you are the only person who knows both flats. The team carries and drives – you keep track: is the no-parking zone in place, have the meter readings been noted, is the first-night box in your own car or bag? We adapt dates to your working life and discuss the schedule with you in advance. We quote the fixed price after the survey.
A clear schedule saves time: in the morning the van is loaded while you check the empty rooms; then comes the handover of the old flat with a report. At the destination you show the team where the bed and wardrobe go. On request, our private move service under Private move includes dismantling and assembly. For the transport we are liable under the German Commercial Code (HGB). Call us on 01625978461 and receive a non-binding quote.

Agree the moving-day schedule in advance
Clear times, fixed price after a survey
During the survey we agree together when loading takes place, who has which keys and where everything goes at the destination. You then receive the fixed price in writing. Contact us by phone on 01625978461 for a personal consultation.
Offers available individually, depending on effort, scheduling and the scope of services required.

What we take care of on moving day
You direct, we carry
On moving day we take care of carrying, loading, transport and, on request, assembly – you concentrate on meter readings, keys and handover. Fragile items are padded, furniture is secured with blankets and straps. We are based in Berlin (Stromstraße 21) and operate nationwide; whether your destination has its own page, you can see in the locations overview. We are liable for damage under the HGB; additional insurance for valuable items is available on request.

Moving
day step by step
In Part 7 we follow a move for singles through the actual moving day: no-parking zone and meter readings in the morning, the final check of the empty rooms, the handover with a report and the arrival in the new flat. We show what belongs in the first-night box and why the bed is assembled first. Long-distance moves (more under Long-distance moves) also need a clear schedule at both locations.

Frequently asked questions about moving day as a single
Smaller load, shorter moving day
Many singles use the move as an opportunity to take a critical look at their belongings and declutter. A minimalist move not only saves costs for transport and boxes, but also makes the entire packing process considerably easier. Before the move, think carefully about which pieces of furniture and items you really need in your new home.
Items you no longer need can be sold, given away or donated instead of being taken along unnecessarily. This not only reduces the transport volume but also creates space for a genuine fresh start. Our team will gladly advise you on how to make your single move as efficient as possible.
Checklist for moving day
Good preparation is the key to a successful moving day. Draw up a checklist with all important tasks in good time, from re-registering your address and cancelling old contracts to handing over the old flat. Also think of important documents such as your ID card, tenancy agreement and bank statements, which should be to hand.
On moving day itself, it helps to keep a separate box with a first-aid kit, snacks and important utensils to hand. That way you avoid unnecessary stress and keep track even during a hectic move. You will find an hour-by-hour schedule in the article Moving day hour by hour.
What moving day costs
As a first guide: a move from a 1-room flat costs from €365, from a 2-room flat from €584. For a 3-room flat prices start at €915, for a 4-room flat at €1,344. For houses and villas there is no flat rate, but an individual quote. For long-distance moves we charge €4.15 per kilometre. You can plan most accurately with a free survey.
Volume, route, floor: costs in plain terms
How expensive your move will be depends largely on the volume and the distance (from €4.15/km). The floor, lift and parking restriction zone also play a role. For extras such as furniture assembly or a part load we will gladly prepare a separate quote.
