Long-Distance Move to the Czech Republic: Process & Tips

Berlin – Czech Republic
From Berlin to the Czech Republic: route, tolls and access
Process and tips
A move to the Czech Republic is no voyage around the world for a furniture lorry from Berlin: Prague is around 350 road kilometres away via the A13 and the A17 near Dresden and then on along the D8. Within the EU, no customs declaration is needed for household goods. We are based in Berlin (Stromstraße 21) and take care of packing, transport and assembly right up to your flat in Prague, Brno, Plzeň or any other Czech town. We give you the fixed price after a survey – driving time, tolls and access at the destination are already included.
Above all, you need to plan three things: a date on which both flats are available, a parking space for the lorry at the destination and your own inventory list of your valuable items with photos. Smaller loads can travel as a shared load if a suitable trip towards the Czech Republic is planned; otherwise we calculate a dedicated transport. You can find out more about our services under Private move and Long-distance moves.

Destination address and furniture list – then a fixed price
Call us on 01625978461 and give us your Berlin address, the destination in the Czech Republic, the floors and a list of your furniture. From this we work out the volume, route and driving time and, after a survey, give you a fixed price. Questions about access, parking at the destination or a shared load can be settled in the same conversation.

How we take your household goods to the Czech Republic
One team from Berlin to your door
We are based in Berlin (Stromstraße 21, Moabit) and handle moves to the Czech Republic like any other long-distance move: survey, fixed price, packing, journey, assembly. Customs papers are not needed for household goods within the EU; what matters more is realistic planning of the driving time and a place to stop at the destination. Our liability for your belongings follows the rules of the HGB – how far that goes and whether additional insurance makes sense is something we discuss in advance. Read more about cross-border moves under International move, and find further destinations in the Locations overview.

What matters on the route
With a move abroad, what counts is clear agreements: what goes on the lorry, when it arrives at the destination and who is liable for what if something is damaged. Your own list of valuable items with photos helps more than any blanket promise.
Reliable moving service
Safe handling
Clear communication
Structured move planning
Flexible support

Shared load towards the Czech Republic
For a few pieces of furniture or a small household, a shared load can be cheaper: your belongings travel on a lorry that is heading towards the Czech Republic anyway. Instead of a fixed day, we agree a time window. We will tell you openly whether a suitable trip is currently planned – otherwise we calculate a dedicated transport.

Everything
for your move
There is more to think about around a move to the Czech Republic than the transport: handing over the flat in Berlin, a parking restriction zone (Halteverbotszone) in front of the building you are leaving, access at the destination and the question of what you take in your own car. Within the EU, pets need a pet passport, a microchip and a valid rabies vaccination. Your car comes along without customs, but an electronic vignette is required for Czech motorways. We support you with planning, packing and transport – you can find more information under Private move.

Questions about route, customs and costs
Customs and formalities when moving to the Czech Republic
As the Czech Republic, like Germany, is part of the EU, a private move abroad involves no customs declaration and no inspection of furniture and personal belongings. There are no mandatory documents for household goods; your own inventory list with photos of valuable items is still sensible – for unpacking and in case of damage. If your car comes along, you need the registration papers and, for Czech motorways, an electronic vignette linked to the number plate.
Different rules apply to the furniture lorry: vehicles over 3.5 t pay a distance-based toll in the Czech Republic via an on-board unit, and Prague has entry restrictions for heavy lorries. We clarify both before moving day and include them in the fixed price. You take care of deregistering in Berlin and registering in the Czech Republic yourself; the deadlines are in the FAQ below.
Process and costs of a long-distance move to the Czech Republic
The process of a long-distance move to the Czech Republic begins with a free on-site or video survey of your belongings, after which you receive a fixed-price quote. On moving day we pack and load in Berlin, drive via Dresden and the D8 to the Czech Republic and deliver to your new home. Prague, at around 350 km, can usually be done as a day trip; for Brno at around 560 km or destinations in Moravia, we often plan two days because of driving and rest times.
The costs depend on distance, volume and additional services such as furniture assembly or storage; tolls and driving time are included in the fixed price. For smaller moves, a shared load can be cheaper than a dedicated lorry.
What does a move cost? All prices in detail
Before you plan your move, you should know the approximate costs. Our guide prices: 1-room flat from €339, 2-room flat from €605, 3-room flat from €915 and 4-room flat from €1,329. Larger properties such as a house or villa are calculated individually. For a long-distance move we charge from €3.80/km. For an exact quote we recommend a free survey on site.
Understanding moving prices
Whether a move turns out cheap or more expensive depends on the volume, the distance (from €3.80/km) and the floor. A lift can lower the costs, and a parking restriction zone makes loading and unloading easier. Additional services such as furniture assembly or a shared load round off the offer.
