Cost of moving to the Czech Republic: prices & planning

Costs and planning
What a move to the Czech Republic costs and how to plan it
Price before the journey
A move to the Czech Republic is a move to a neighbouring EU country: no customs duties apply to your household goods, and the price depends mainly on volume, route and access. From our depot in Berlin-Moabit it is around 350 road kilometres to Prague and around 560 to Brno (Brünn). The team at Beste Umzug Unternehmen takes care of packing, transport and assembly for your private move. On this page you can see which items belong in a reliable quote, how to compare quotes and how to plan the date step by step.
One of the items that should be clarified before the quote is the toll: for vehicles over 3.5 tonnes, the electronic toll applies in the Czech Republic, not the vignette. Then there are the floor and lift at both addresses, carrying distances, possible no-stopping zones and additional services such as packing. We give you the fixed price after the survey; our liability for your household goods is governed by the German Commercial Code (HGB) (§ 451e: €620 per m³). More about the journey can be found under Long-distance moves.

Fixed price after a survey
Call us on 01625978461 and tell us the destination, floors, lift and the large pieces of furniture. From this we plan the vehicle, team and date for your move to the Czech Republic. The quote lists route, toll, materials and assembly separately – whether for a complete move or a part load.
Offers available individually, depending on effort, scheduling and the scope of services required.

What makes up your price
Four items, one fixed price
We are based in Berlin (Stromstraße 21) and drive throughout Germany and abroad, including to the Czech Republic. Four items determine the price of your move to the Czech Republic: the volume in cubic metres, the route from Moabit, access at both addresses and additional services such as packing or assembly. We show tolls and any no-stopping zones separately in the quote. After the survey you receive a fixed price; our liability for your household goods is governed by the HGB.

Planning
step by step
With a move to the Czech Republic, the schedule counts as well as the price: enquiry and survey, quote, packing day, transport and delivery. For a reliable calculation, the inventory list, the floor and lift at both addresses and the parking options for the lorry are important. Deregistration in Berlin, registration in the Czech Republic and vehicle questions are explained in our article on customs and formalities. This prepares you for every phase of your long-distance move.

Common questions
No customs – what still needs to be done
The Czech Republic has been a member of the European Union since 2004. For a move to the Czech Republic this means: according to German customs, goods for personal use may in principle be taken from another EU country without customs duties, and there is no customs declaration for your household goods. Restrictions, for example on medicines or fireworks, remain in place. Your own inventory list is still useful, for insurance and for loading and unloading.
If you stay longer than three months, as an EU citizen you can apply to the Czech Ministry of the Interior for a registration certificate; in Germany you deregister within two weeks of moving out. Anyone taking their car permanently must register it in the Czech Republic – clarify the exact steps with the authority. Everything about this is in the article Customs and formalities.
Costs and process at a glance
The costs of a move to the Czech Republic are made up of distance, moving volume, packing material and any additional services such as furniture assembly or storage. An average long-distance move from Germany to the Czech Republic costs between 1,200 and 4,500 euros depending on the size of the household. After the survey you receive a fixed price in which route, toll and additional services are listed separately.
The process begins with a free survey or online consultation, followed by an individual quote. We then take care of packing, transport and, on request, the disposal of furniture you no longer need. On the destination day in the Czech Republic we take care of unloading and, on request, assembling the furniture and placing it in the right spot. This keeps your move structured and stress-free.
Starting prices by flat size
Whether a student room or a family house – we have the right price for every move. We move a 1-room flat from €359, a 2-room flat from €609, a 3-room flat from €884 and a 4-room flat from €1,324. For houses and villas there is an individual quote. For long-distance moves we charge from €3.95/km. Arrange a free survey today.
Cost factors for the Czech Republic
Your moving price depends on the volume, the distance (from €3.95/km), the floor and whether there is a lift. A parking restriction zone (Halteverbotszone) can also incur additional costs. If required, we add furniture assembly or a part load.

Destinations with their own page can be found in the locations overview, and notes on long routes under Long-distance moves. There is not always a page for a specific Czech city there.
Czech Republic: tolls, route and other cost factors of a move
What a move to the Czech Republic costs depends on several items that can be clarified before the quote. The route from our depot at Stromstraße 21 in Berlin-Moabit is only one of them. The moving volume in cubic metres, the floor and lift at both addresses, carrying distances, packing, assembly and possible storage all count too.
One cost item on the route is the toll. The Czech portal edalnice.gov.cz specifies an electronic vignette for four-wheeled vehicles with a permissible gross weight of up to 3.5 tonnes, whose price depends on vehicle characteristics. For heavier vehicles, the site refers to the electronic toll portal (myto.gov.cz). A removal lorry is usually above this limit, so ask how the toll is shown in the quote and whether it is already included. We deliberately do not quote an amount here: it depends on the vehicle and the route.
- Volume and inventory: the more precise the list, the more reliable the quote
- Access at both addresses: floor, lift, parking options, narrow access roads
- No-stopping zone at the moving-out and moving-in locations, where necessary and approved locally
- Additional services: packing, furniture assembly, storage
We explain customs and registration formalities separately in the article Moving to the Czech Republic: customs and formalities. General long-distance moving services can be found under Long-distance move.
Planning a move to the Czech Republic: schedule, quote and part load
A move across the border works best if you start planning early. A six-step process has proven itself: enquiry, survey or inventory of the furniture, quote, packing day, transport and delivery. We give you the journey time from our depot in the quote, because it depends on the destination, the load and breaks.
The following details are important for a reliable calculation:
- Moving-out and moving-in dates, plus a preferred period if the flats are handed over at different times
- Inventory list with rooms, bulky items (piano, wardrobes) and special features
- Floor, lift and access at both addresses, including parking options for the lorry
- Desired additional services such as packing or furniture assembly
For small volumes, a part load to the Czech Republic can be worthwhile: your furniture travels with other consignments, but the date is less freely selectable. For a fixed date with a larger household, an exclusive transport is easier to plan. Weekdays and weekends can be booked up differently, so mention your preferred date early.
Always compare quotes on the basis of the services included, not just the total price: are toll, packing material, assembly and insurance listed? How long-distance planning works in general is explained in our article Long-distance move to the Czech Republic: process and tips.
