Long-distance move Berlin – Kladno: route process & deadlines

From Berlin to Kladno
Long-distance move to Kladno: 347 km via Dresden
Planning from Berlin
A move to Kladno is a long-distance move to another EU country, but a comparatively short one: around 347 km from Berlin via the A13, A4 and A17 into the Czech Republic and on along the D8 towards Prague. By lorry that is about five and a half hours including a break – often manageable in one day for smaller moves. As an EU citizen you do not need a visa, and no customs duty is payable on household goods. For your international move we clarify parking and registration deadlines in advance.
We start in Berlin (Stromstraße 21). In the Czech Republic, vehicles over 3.5 t pay an electronic, distance-based toll; vans up to 3.5 t need an electronic vignette. According to the German Federal Foreign Office, there may currently be checks at the German-Czech border – keep ID documents in the glove compartment. We quote the fixed price after a survey; we also handle the return route from Kladno to Berlin. More in Long-distance move to the Czech Republic.

Moving to Kladno: arrange a survey
347 km, one contact person, one fixed price
For your move to Kladno, one call to 01625978461 is all it takes: we survey your flat by video or on site, ask about the floor and access at the destination and calculate the 347 km route. You then receive a written fixed price in which a parking restriction, assembly or storage are listed as separate items.
Offers available individually, depending on effort, scheduling and the scope of services required.

How your move to Kladno works with us
347 km, one team, one fixed price
Our team sets off from Stromstraße 21 in Berlin – we have no branch in Kladno itself. That is why we plan all the more carefully beforehand: floor, lift, walking distance and parking space, for example for a flat in Rozdělov or a house in Dubí. If you want to park the lorry directly in front of the building, according to gov.cz you need a permit for any use of the road beyond ordinary public use – in Kladno, from the municipal authority. After the survey you receive a fixed price; liability for your belongings is governed by § 451e HGB (€620 per cubic metre). Details on our private move can be found here.

Moving
& transport from one provider
A long-distance move to Kladno is about more than transport: do you need a visa, are there customs charges, when must you register with the foreigners' police and what applies to your car? This guide summarises the route, tolls and registration obligations, and sets out what the Czech Ministry of the Interior, the German Federal Foreign Office and gov.cz say about them. All official steps can be found in our checklist for the Czech Republic.

Common questions
No visa, no customs – but an obligation to register
Like Germany, the Czech Republic is part of the European Union. EU citizens enter with an ID card or passport and need neither a visa nor a residence permit. For household goods and personal belongings there is no customs declaration and no import duty; an inventory list still helps with liability.
If you expect to stay longer than 30 days, register your stay with the foreigners' police within 30 days; if your accommodation provider has done this, it is not necessary. For stays of more than three months you can apply for a registration certificate, but it is not mandatory. In Germany you deregister within two weeks of moving out (§ 17(2) BMG).
Route, driving time and costs to Kladno
From our base in Berlin-Moabit it is around 347 km: via the A13 and A4 to Dresden, the A17 to the border and the Czech D8 towards Prague, with the last few kilometres on country roads. By lorry we reckon on about five and a half hours including a break; we can often manage smaller moves in one day. We do not give flat-rate average prices – you receive the fixed price after the survey, with packing, assembly or storage as separate items.
In the Czech Republic an electronic toll applies to lorries over 3.5 t, and a vignette to vans up to 3.5 t. Locally, a reserved parking space requires a permit from the Kladno municipal authority; we clarify this before moving day.
Your move – these are the costs to expect
Whether a small one-room flat from €365 or a spacious four-room flat from €1,329 – the costs depend on the scope of your move. A two-room flat costs from €615, a three-room flat from €879. For houses and villas we prepare an individual quote, and for long-distance moves we charge from €3.95/km. The quickest way to find out your personal price is a free survey.
How is the price made up?
First, the volume of your belongings counts. Then comes the distance, which is charged from €3.95/km. Finally, the floor, lift and a possible parking restriction zone (Halteverbotszone) play an important role. For additional services we recommend furniture assembly and a part load.

Route Berlin–Kladno: border, lorry toll and traffic rules in the Czech Republic
A long-distance move from Berlin to Kladno crosses the German-Czech border. The German Federal Foreign Office points out that internal border checks are currently taking place at the land border; keep ID documents ready and allow for waiting time. In the Czech Republic, a satellite-based toll is levied on vehicles over 3.5 t on motorways, expressways and marked sections of road. Before use, the vehicle must be registered in the electronic toll system, a deposit paid and the device installed; the devices are issued at Myto.cz customer points. For removal lorries, this is a fixed part of tour planning.
Among the traffic rules, the Federal Foreign Office lists:
- an absolute ban on drink-driving (0.0 per mille),
- dipped headlights or daytime running lights at all times,
- winter tyres mandatory from 1 November to 31 March,
- an electronic motorway vignette for cars up to 3.5 t.
- in accidents involving personal injury or property damage over CZK 200,000, the police must be called.
As regards customs: the exemption for household effects (form 0350) described on zoll.de concerns moves from non-EU countries into the EU. Germany and the Czech Republic are both in the EU, so you should not need this customs procedure here; in special cases, ask the responsible main customs office. Further details on formalities can be found in our guide Moving to Kladno and under International move.
Arriving in Kladno: registering with the foreigners' police and a parking space for the removal van
After arriving in the Czech Republic, separate registration steps apply to EU citizens. According to the Ministry of the Interior of the Czech Republic, EU citizens may enter and stay without a visa or residence permit. If the planned stay exceeds 30 days, there is an obligation to register with the foreigners' police (cizinecká policie). For stays of more than three months, you can also apply to the Ministry of the Interior for a registration certificate (osvědčení o registraci). It is not a prerequisite for residence, but serves as formal confirmation, for example towards authorities or when a birth number is assigned, and is valid for ten years as standard. Different rules apply to family members from non-EU countries.
The second point is the space in front of the building. On the Czech government portal, setting up a reserved parking space is given as an example of special use of a road, which requires a permit from the road authority. For local roads this is the municipal office; for class II and III roads, the office of the municipality with extended powers. The page lists CZK 100 for permits of up to 10 days and CZK 500 for up to six months. Whether a removal van needs such a permit in an individual case, clarify in advance with the responsible office in Kladno.
