From
deregistration to the Service Étrangers
An international move involves more than transport: professional packing, dismantling and reassembly of furniture and, in narrow houses, a furniture lift. Customs clearance is not required within the EU; you handle the formalities yourself – deregistering in Berlin, registering in Verviers, car and insurance. For your private move we can also take care of storage and the no-parking zone in Berlin on request.

Belgium is a member of the European Union; for private household goods there is no customs declaration when moving to Verviers. A complete inventory list is still useful – for insurance and for random checks. For pets, a microchip, rabies vaccination and an EU pet passport are required.
After arrival, EU citizens staying longer than three months register with the town's Service Étrangers (Place du Marché 55); according to the town, the documents for the registration certificate (Annexe 19) must be complete from the outset. Appointments are by arrangement only. In Berlin you deregister if you are not keeping a home there.

The zoll.de page on removal goods (Übersiedlungsgut) concerns moves from non-EU countries; for intra-EU questions it refers you to the customs information service.

Route Berlin – Verviers: access, residents' card and bulky waste at the destination
From our depot in Berlin-Moabit we plan loading, the journey and unloading so that the time windows in Berlin and Verviers fit together. In Verviers, municipal parking rules apply, which the town describes on verviers.be:
- Carte de riverain (residents' card): Every resident of a regulated zone can apply for one, with proof of entry in the population register. There are at most four cards per household: the first free of charge, then 50, 100 and 200 euros. It is valid for one year.
- Change of address: If your place of residence changes, the change must be reported to the Cellule stationnement (parking unit); it takes effect no later than two working days after the declaration. The card must be returned to the town.
- Zone bleue: The residents' card is not valid in the blue zones.
Waste when moving: the containers (or the badge) belong to the property. When you change address, the form for changing the container holder must be sent to Intradel so that no incorrect bill is issued. Bulky waste is collected by the organisation RCYCL in Eupen free of charge and by appointment (087 55 48 78), at most 3 m³ per household and collection, up to four times a year, on Mondays or Tuesdays.
