Long-distance move to Eindhoven – route, Gemeente and BSN

Guide

Unsere Firma plans your move to Eindhoven from Stromstraße 21 in Berlin-Moabit – with a fixed price after a survey.

A move to Eindhoven takes you to the province of North Brabant, the technology region around TU Eindhoven and the High Tech Campus. Because the Netherlands is in the EU, your household goods need no customs papers. Other rules matter instead: within five days of arrival you register in person with the municipality (Gemeente) and receive your BSN; Dutch health insurance follows after that. We handle packing, transport and furniture assembly and plan the route of around 648 km with the statutory breaks. Your car, pets and the handover of your Berlin flat also belong in the schedule – we tell you what is due and when.

We come from Berlin-Moabit (Stromstraße 21) and drive around 648 km on the A2 into the Ruhr area, via the A42 and A40 to the border at Venlo and then on the Dutch A67 to Eindhoven. By lorry that takes about nine and a half hours including breaks. We quote the fixed price after the survey, including the return trip to Berlin. Everything about moves across the border: International moving. The drive just fits into one day's driving time; with loading and unloading we usually plan two days.

What we handle on your move to Eindhoven

Planned in Berlin, arriving in Brabant

We have no branch in the Netherlands; we come by lorry from Berlin-Moabit. That is why we check access, floor and staircase in Eindhoven in advance – for steep Dutch staircases we plan a furniture lift. We clarify in good time whether an exemption permit from the Gemeente is needed for the centre. We quote the fixed price after a survey or a video appointment; we are liable for your belongings under § 451e HGB at €620 per cubic metre, and additional insurance is available.

Packing service

We pack kitchenware, books and screens so they cannot break and number the boxes for your new home in Eindhoven – packing service.

Office move

For an office move to Eindhoven, we agree a room and label plan in advance so the workstations at the destination are up and running again quickly.

Senior moves

For a senior move to Eindhoven, we discuss beforehand which furniture comes along and set it up again in the new home.

Furniture transport

With our furniture transport to Eindhoven, the sofa, dining table and wardrobe arrive wrapped in blankets and firmly strapped down.
PLANNABLE FROM BERLIN

Our moving services at a glance

Clear agreements and a written fixed price after a survey: that is how we plan every move to Eindhoven. So you keep track of the costs of your move abroad, from the drive across the border to assembly in the new home.

01

Loading time and arrival planned

Departure in Berlin and arrival in Eindhoven are fixed in writing beforehand, so that your landlord, property manager or caretaker is ready with the keys on moving day.
02

Access sorted

We ask about floor, lift, walking distance and parking in advance – whether in Strijp or Woensel – so that enough carriers are scheduled for your move.
03

Parking for the lorry

In the centre of Eindhoven, bollards and an exemption permit from the municipality (Gemeente) control access – we sort this out before moving day so the lorry can stop close to the door.
04

Planned backwards

We plan backwards from move-in day: giving notice on your old flat, packing dates, the parking restriction and the drive then fit precisely with the handover of your new home in Eindhoven.
05

Interim storage possible

If moving out in Berlin and moving in to Eindhoven are not on the same day, we can store your household goods until the handover date.
06

Ready to settle in

Beds and wardrobes are set up on arrival day, the boxes are in the right rooms – and you have time to register with the Gemeente in Eindhoven.
FOR SMALL LOADS

Save with a part load

Small move, small price
With a part load, your belongings travel on a run towards Eindhoven together with other consignments. For small loads this cuts the cost considerably; in return, you get a time window rather than a fixed delivery day. Once you enquire, we will tell you whether a suitable run is currently planned.

Your
move, our craft

Well planned and reliable

Whether you are relocating a complete household, individual pieces of furniture or an office to Eindhoven – we plan the right solution. For private households there is our private move service, across the border too. For companies we plan office moves with fixed time windows. Important for everyone: registering with the Gemeente within five days, the BSN and health insurance, plus access to the centre with its bollards and exemption permit. We tell you which steps are due before and after moving day.

Planning safely and calmly

With a schedule worked backwards from move-in day – notice, parking restriction, packing dates – your private move, senior move or student move to Eindhoven stays manageable, even over the roughly 648 km via the A2 and Venlo.

Furniture, boxes, carrying routes

Packing service, furniture transport and, if needed, a small transport for single items: that way boxes and furniture in Eindhoven go straight into the right rooms, whether in Strijp or Woensel.

Costs, timing and special cases

Costs depend on volume, floor and the roughly 648 km via the A2 and Venlo; for small loads a part load lowers the price. We also plan office moves and company relocations to Eindhoven with fixed time windows and a label plan.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about a long-distance move to Eindhoven

Costs, route, districts, parking restrictions and registration – answered briefly.
No. As the Netherlands is part of the European Union, private household goods need no customs papers when moving to Eindhoven. A customs declaration may only be needed for moves from non-EU countries. An inventory is still useful – for insurance and for checking when unpacking; separate registration rules apply to a car. Questions about registration are answered by the RDW, and about the BPM exemption on moving by the Belastingdienst.

Customs and formalities when moving to the Netherlands

As the Netherlands is a member of the EU, a move to Eindhoven involves no conventional customs formalities for EU citizens, provided the goods are private household effects. Even so, you should keep a detailed inventory, especially for valuable items, vehicles or works of art. When moving from a non-EU country, additional customs papers and a certificate of origin are required, which we clarify for you in advance.

One of the most important formalities in Eindhoven is registering in person (Anmeldung) at the town hall (Gemeentehuis), where you receive a BSN number (citizen service number). You need this number for almost all further dealings with the authorities, such as health insurance, tax matters or opening a bank account. We recommend booking this appointment soon after arrival, as there may be waiting times.

Costs and process of a long-distance move to Eindhoven

The cost of a long-distance move to Eindhoven depends on factors such as volume, distance, floor and any additional services you want, such as packing or assembly. With our transparent fixed price model, you receive a binding cost overview in advance after the survey. For an average two-person household, costs are often between 1,800 and 3,500 euros, depending on the individual scope of services.

The process begins with a free survey or virtual inventory of your belongings, followed by a detailed quote. Once the order is confirmed, we handle packing, loading, transport, unloading and assembly in your new home in Eindhoven. On request, we store your belongings temporarily if the handover of the flat is postponed.

When pricing, we take into account the volume, the distance (from €3.95/km) as well as the floor and lift availability. Registering in Eindhoven: appointment, Inwonersplein and the 5-day deadline

Anyone moving from Germany to Eindhoven must register in person with the Gemeente and book an appointment beforehand. According to the municipality, there are separate appointment pages for people arriving from an EU country and from non-EU countries. All family members who are to be registered must attend, including babies, young children and older people.

  • Deadline: According to the Dutch government (Rijksoverheid), anyone who will live in the Netherlands for more than four months must register in the BRP, within 5 days of arrival.
  • Cost: According to the Gemeente Eindhoven, registration is free. You pay for translations or legalisations of official documents yourself.
  • Contact: +31 40 238 6000 or [email protected]. The municipality's page was last updated at the end of 2022; confirm details by phone.

If you later move within the Netherlands, the municipality says you report the move online with DigiD, by post to Postbus 90150, 5600 RB Eindhoven (BEO department) or in person at the Inwonersplein after booking an appointment. This is free, and according to the municipality processing takes 5 working days.

If you register a car, you should know the rules for residents' parking. According to the municipality, the registration certificate must be in your name, you must be registered in Eindhoven, and depending on the address up to two permits are possible. Applications are made online with DigiD. The vehicle must also meet the emission requirements. Background on the neighbourhoods can be found in the Eindhoven moving guide.

Driving to Eindhoven: driving times, customs and planning from Berlin-Moabit

The drive from our base in Berlin-Moabit to Eindhoven crosses an internal EU border. According to German customs, when travelling within the EU you may bring goods duty-free if they are for personal use. Special rules apply to cigarettes and alcohol, and restrictions apply to certain goods such as medicines or fireworks. Cash of 10,000 euros or more must be declared on request.

The EU driving and rest time rules are decisive for route planning. According to the European Commission, daily driving time is limited to 9 hours and can be extended to 10 hours twice a week. After 4.5 hours at the latest, a break of at least 45 minutes is mandatory; it can be split into 15 and 30 minutes. Daily rest is at least 11 hours. Weekly driving time must not exceed 56 hours, and a maximum of 90 hours is allowed in two weeks.

  • Loading at our base, Stromstraße 21, 10551 Berlin
  • Build breaks and rest periods firmly into the schedule
  • Coordinate the arrival window with your key handover

We only commit to a fixed driving time after the survey, because volume and access determine the plan. Further destinations in the Netherlands can be found in the long-distance moving guide for The Hague or under long-distance moving.

Always one step ahead.
