Commercial move

Commercial move: costs for shops, workshops and warehouses

Estimating the price correctly

Unsere Firma Counter, shelving, machinery and stock: in a commercial move, weight and access determine the price more than the floor area.

A commercial move places special demands on planning and execution, as customers and suppliers should notice as little as possible of the relocation. Our team coordinates the move from dismantling the fittings to reassembling them at the new location – whether a shop, workshop or office move. We plan with fixed time windows so that your business stays closed for as short a time as possible. We are liable for damage to inventory and equipment under the HGB; additional insurance is available on request.

From a small shop to a company relocation with several departments, we adapt our approach to your business. Heavy equipment, shelving systems, refrigerated units or sensitive equipment need their own planning and therefore appear as separate items in the quote. On request we also take care of dismantling and reassembling the fittings, including furniture assembly. This way you know in advance what relocating your business will cost and can concentrate on your customers.

SHORT CLOSURE

How we make the costs of your commercial move predictable

Time windows, weights, clear items

A commercial move is rarely just about desks: counters, shelving, machinery and stock need to be carried, secured and set up again at the new location. We give you the price as a fixed price after a survey, so that you know where you stand beforehand. We are liable for inventory, equipment and files under the German Commercial Code (HGB) (up to €620 per m³); you can protect expensive equipment with additional insurance. We are based in Berlin (Stromstraße 21) and also drive nationwide, with short-notice dates depending on how busy we are.

Packing service

We pack stock, spare parts and small parts labelled by shelf and compartment – so your storeroom is quickly sorted again after the commercial move.

Heavy equipment

Machinery, safes or refrigerated units need pallet trucks, straps and more staff. Their weight is often the biggest difference from a plain office move.

Fittings

We dismantle counters, shelving systems and workbenches and reassemble them at the new location. The more that is screwed together, the larger the assembly item.

Date

A move after closing time or at the weekend can cost more but saves lost turnover – weigh the two against each other for the furniture transport.
COST ITEMS

What determines the price of a commercial move

The costs of a commercial move depend less on the floor area than on what is in it and how heavy it is. You should know these items before you compare quotes.

01

Weight

Machinery, safes, refrigerated counters or metal shelving need special equipment and more helpers. They determine the effort more than the number of boxes.
02

Stock and storeroom

Stock has to be counted, packed and put away again. A clearance sale before the move reduces the volume and therefore the price.
03

Access

Loading ramp or stairs, courtyard or pedestrian zone: how close the lorry can get to your door determines the carrying distances and the length of moving day.
04

Dismantling and reassembly

Shop fittings and shelving systems are often screwed together or fixed to the wall. Dismantling, transport and reassembly are listed separately in the quote.
05

Closure time

Every day of closure costs turnover. A date at the weekend or after closing time shortens the break but often costs more in transport.
06

Re-registration

You notify the trade office of the relocation (§ 14 GewO); on top of that come signs, printed matter and listings. Plan a small item for this.
FOR SMALL LOADS

Part load for individual items and remaining stock

Sharing free load space
A part load saves costs because empty runs are avoided: individual shelves, boxes of stock or equipment travel on a route that is planned anyway. Well suited to small shops, external storerooms and items that follow after the main move – with an agreed collection window, secured cargo and a route that bundles several jobs.

ALL ABOUT THE RELOCATION

What
else is part of a commercial move

Business, staff, authorities

Besides the commercial move, we also handle the private move for owners or employees who move with the business. If the new location is in another region, you will find details on the route and process under Long-distance moves. Besides transport, remember the notification to the trade office (Gewerbeamt), new signs, printed matter and website, and the change of address with customers, suppliers and insurers. We will be happy to advise you on which services make sense to combine for your business.

Owners and team

If the family moves along with the shop, the private move can be planned alongside – as can a student move for trainees or a senior move if parents move nearby.

Fittings and stock

With a packing service for stock, heavy furniture transport for counters and shelving and a small transport for spare parts, the move stays plannable even in narrow back courtyards.

Dates and stages

Whether an office move at the weekend, a company relocation in stages or a public authority move – leftover items follow by part load or furniture taxi once the main move is done.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about the cost of a commercial move

Answers on price, planning, liability, equipment and the trade office.
There is no credible average price, because fittings, weight, stock and access vary greatly from business to business. A small shop with heavy refrigerated units can involve more effort than a larger office. After a survey you receive a fixed price in which all agreed services are listed separately.

How a professional commercial move works

A successful commercial move begins with a detailed on-site inventory, during which we record the scope, special features and individual wishes. We then draw up a specific schedule that takes your business processes into account and minimises downtime. On moving day itself, our staff take care of dismantling, proper packing and the safe transport of all items.

At the new location the furniture is reassembled according to your specifications; connecting and checking the equipment is best done by your IT service provider. On request we also label cables and set up individual departments in a structured way. This way you can get straight to work in your new business premises without losing valuable working time.

These factors affect the costs

The costs of a commercial move are made up of several components: the scope and weight of the fittings, the quantity of stock, the distance between the old and new location and additional services such as furniture assembly or IT dismantling. The accessibility of the premises, for instance narrow stairwells, missing lifts or pedestrian zones, also affects the price.

After a free survey you receive a fixed price that covers all agreed services. In your budget, do not forget the costs surrounding the transport – from re-registering the business to new signs. The commercial move checklist provides a list for this.

Volume, route and access in detail

Besides the volume of your belongings, the distance between the two addresses plays a major role – here we calculate with €4.15/km. The floor, lift and a possible parking restriction zone (Halteverbotszone) are also factored into the price. Additional services such as furniture assembly or a part load round off the quote.
