Planning a Company Move: Step by Step

Moving company Berlin
Planning an office move: seven steps for the whole company
From the decision to the re-registration
When an entire company relocates, planning starts long before the first box. Step 1: if the business normally has more than 20 employees entitled to vote, relocating the whole business counts as an operational change – the works council must be informed in good time and the plans discussed with it (§ 111 BetrVG). Step 2: give notice on the old lease – for commercial premises without their own contractual rule, by the third working day of a quarter at the latest, to take effect at the end of the next quarter (§ 580a BGB). Step 3: inform your staff and clarify commutes and working hours at the new site.
Step 4: a survey by Beste Umzug Unternehmen, followed by a fixed price for furniture, technology and archive. Step 5: apply for a parking restriction zone and order IT connections. Step 6: moving day – department by department for larger companies. Step 7: with the relocation, re-register the business with the trade office (Gewerbeamt) and file the new address with the registry court. Our Office move page describes how we organise moving day; if employees are moving home as well, our Private move service can help.

Step 4: the survey for your office move
Then a fixed price for every area
Call us on 01625978461 or use the contact form. During the survey we go through department by department – workstations, archive, technology, storage – and then give you a fixed price for the entire business relocation.
Quotes available individually based on workload, scheduling and the desired scope of services.

Which of the seven steps we handle
And what stays with management
The works council, the lease, your staff and the register are tasks for management. We take on steps 4 to 6: the survey and fixed price, on request the application for the parking restriction zone, and moving day with dismantling, transport and reassembly. We are based in Berlin (Stromstraße 21) and coordinate the process with one fixed contact person in your company. We are liable for removal goods under the German Commercial Code (§ 451e HGB).

Services that fit
The more people an office move affects, the more important clear responsibilities become. These six rules hold the seven steps together – even if a date shifts or a department finishes later.
Reliable moving service
Safe handling
Clear communication
Structured move planning
Flexible support
Wrapping up properly
Single department? Consider a shared load
If only a small department or a branch office moves in step 6, a shared load may be suitable: furniture and boxes travel on a lorry that is heading in that direction anyway. For this we agree a time window rather than a fixed day – that should fit into your schedule.

Moving
service without compromise
Alongside the seven steps, an office move often involves side projects: storing furniture until the new premises are ready, disposing of old furniture or relocating a warehouse separately. If the company moves to another city, we plan the route as a long-distance move with its own schedule. If employees are also changing their home address, their private move can be scheduled for the same period.

Questions about the seven steps
The typical process of a company move
Every office move begins with a detailed on-site survey in which we record the scope, inventory and special requirements such as IT systems or server rooms. Based on this, we draw up an individual schedule that follows your business operations and minimises downtime.
On moving day our team handles dismantling, transport and reassembly with clearly defined responsibilities. Labelling systems for boxes and furniture ensure that everything is quickly back in its place at the new site.
Costs and influencing factors in the company move
The cost of an office move depends on floor space, storeys, distance and extra services such as furniture assembly or IT dismantling. After the survey you receive a fixed price that lets you set the budget before moving day.
We are liable for removal goods under the German Commercial Code, limited to €620 per cubic metre of loading space (§ 451e HGB); for expensive technology, additional insurance is available on request. If the company reimburses employees for their private move, this can be tax-free up to the amount of deductible work-related expenses (§ 3 Nummer 16 EStG).
Moving costs made transparent
| Type of home | Cost from |
|---|---|
| 1-room flat | €344 |
| 2-room flat | €609 |
| 3-room flat | €915 |
| 4-room flat | €1,324 |
| House/villa | individual quote |
We charge long-distance moves separately from €3.90/km. It is best to clarify details during a free survey.
Why does every move cost a different amount?
Every move is different – what matters is the volume of the household and the distance, from €3.90/km. The floor, a missing lift and a parking restriction zone also affect the price. Extra services such as furniture assembly and a shared load round off the quote.
Tailored moving help
Every move is different – which is why we adapt our services exactly to your wishes.
- Move with assembly: move with assembly for a new living space that is immediately ready for use.
- Clearance: clearance for flat dissolutions and renovations.
- Furniture transport: furniture transport for bulky single items too.
- Part load: part load as a price-conscious option.
- Company move: company move with a clear structure and schedule.
- Home move: home move with a personal contact.
When the company changes city
If the company moves to another city, it registers the change of registered office with the registry court of its previous seat (§ 13h HGB). We plan such moves from Berlin (Stromstraße 21): Long-distance moves and Locations overview.
